  1. then what the best way to upgrade?? Should I modify the speaker box to fit a larger size speaker like a 5" or bigger?
  2. I'm in Denver through Monday so I am not going anywhere soon. How is the weather in KC? That bad?? Anyway what all is involved with changing the speakers? Is it really a huge deal? Does it really make a big difference if you replace all four versus just the fronts? BTW I usually go to either the one in Olathe or the one on Metcalf depending on what else I am doing. I live half way between them both. O and I like the new avatar.
  3. I just got a best buy gift card and was thinking about getting some new door speakers. I would probably just get a pair for the front. My question is how much difference in sound quality do you think I would get? I have one of the higher end Sony Xplode head unit in there, I don't now if that is relevant. Best buy only has a couple of options for 4" speakers so which do you guys think is best? What should I look for in a good door speaker? Also, is there much modification needed to the wiring for an aftermarket speaker? 4. that was my guess too. If there is no dipstick it has to be a 2004.
  5. thats what I thought. I need a small door trim piece. I guess next time I see a first gen in a parking lot I wont have that need anymore.
  6. I believe Lexus and their infinant wisdom decied to make the antenna adjust to the strenth of the radio station. So its normal behavior.
  7. If thats the case than I would put that car up for auction. It's really REALLY rare to see a 1994 LS430 not to mention the ultra low milage. JK If its a 94 check out lexls. If its a LS430 good luck. The tranny is supposedly sealed for life. There should be a drain and filler plug on the tranny though. The filter I cant say for sure about.
  8. That still seems like an unreasonably high price. Ship it to me and I'll repair it for $150. I'll warranty it for two years and I'll even send you instructions on how to remove the cluster. In fact here you go http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/electrical/...entcluster.html
  9. Aawww come on just wing it. You cant do too much damage. JUST KIDDING try to find some one to help or if you do do it on your own take your time. best place for OEM parts is www.parts.com best place for plugs and wires sparkplugs.com cheapest place for non OE parts autozone, advance auto, or O'reilly auto. all have websites you can check out too. what you feel should be OEM and what you feel can be not excessevily overpriced and over rated is up to you and only you. I have heard mixed reviews about Bosch platinum plugs, but if you already have them I wouldn't worry. The most recomended for these cars are iridium plugs either Bosch or NGK work great. BTW you can quote multiple people in one post by simply clicking the quote button in the bottom right of all the posts you want to quote and then click the add reply button.
  10. Problem is fixed!! To the tune of a new TB and water pump. I got the tensioners replaced too as well as the distributer caps and rotors. The noise and leak was coming from the water pump and the coolant inlet housing had a leak too. It feels great to have it fixed and no longer have to worry when my TB was going to go. It had 97K miles on it so it was a bit over due.
  11. you might want to add plug wires to your tune up list. Check out lexls.com and click on tutorials they have info on all the proceedures you mention. The code you got from the CEL should tell you which o2 sensor is hanivg problems. you can check that out on lexls as well. Good luck
  12. Much less smoke on start up. The only function they have on the steering is when you turn full lock. They kick in the idle up vale which raises the engine rpm by about 200 to make it feel easier to turn. Mine are plugged and I don't notice much difference at all.
  13. Remove the two vaccum lines I circled in red. (ignore the two things in the black X's I got this pic off lexls) Then cap the lines themselves and the little plastic tubes they were connected to. Thats about it. Search for power steering threads there is a lot of great info all ready on here. there was recently a three or four page thread on power steering issues. Club Lexus also has "The first gen power steering bible" thread.
  14. Is this real??? What year LS parts, what color, how many miles, condition?
  15. Since its not the low oil level light, but the red one near the tach, you should be able to pull a code. Hopefully the code(s) will show what the problem sensor is. Check lexls.com for how to pull the codes. If you cant figure out what a code means, try googleing it, or asking on here.
  16. do you have both vaccum lines removed and capped? There are two comming off the PS pump. One goes to the center of the intake manifold the other goes to the air intake chamber. The black air box connecting the MAF sensor to the throttle body.
  17. I believe when I called Mikado they quoted me around $400. I have seen places on ebay where they can repair them for less than half that cost with a warrentee. My total repair cost was around $50 because I did most of the work my self. Look around for the best prices and deals. BTW 90-94 all have this same problem. The capacitors should all be very similar. If you can, try to ask who ever repairs your cluster which ones they replace. That would be a big help.
  18. I just took it to my local shop. It continued to loose coolant along the way, but it didn't over heat because it was only about 2 miles away. It ran nice and strong the whole from start up untill I turned it off. They are taking a look at the water pump and that is my main suspect too. There isnt any excessive exhaust smoke. No codes or lights either. No coolent warning light which made me upset when I found out there was no coolent left in the block, radiator, or resivour. What triggers that light to come on anyway?
  19. I really hope not, I really like their car, although you are probably right. I just want that hummer team to leave. They are so annoying
  20. do you mean just compression pressure test the cylinders?
