Buying A Car Out Of State. How It Works
Toysrme replied to Lexdiamonds's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Ya it was only like $300-400 from Texas to Alabama. That's like an 8-10 hour drive, it's not exactly short. I just met the guy on an interstate off-ramp where there was like a clearing, he got the truck off while I signed some papers with his woman. I gave it a quick once over & signed off there wasn't any shipping damage. That was it. -
5"-6" Any descent pad is going to wrap around the hook & loop plate. AFA pads, I like 5 & 6" pads. I use 6" pads more. It's not really gonna matter either way. Oh... Don't get the "finger" pads. They suck. Grab 2-3 yellow/orange pads to cut with & just some light pad to wax with. & a handful of microfiber bonnets to buff with. Say two per application you wanna do on the car.

I still don't understand if there is a problem, or what the problem is. The powersteering system is modulated via vacuum via the IAC, and IM vacuum sorces. It shouldn't need to build pressure at all. I don't get what he's talking about.
-
Check for vacuum leaks, check the o2 sensor itself, check fuel pressure & injectors. In that order.

It's front wheel drive physics. To get a better turn-in & rotation, a quick jab of the brakes the instant you initiate the wheel movement helps break it and rorate it. If you buy a rear sway bar, instead of giving the brakes a jab, you flick the wheel quickly and give a good bit of gas. Ooooor if you're really setup right, just flick the wheel quickly.

Cold marks are never accurate. Always go by the hot marks.

Yes they do ship cars in from everywhere. Both new & used car dealers do this. Just have the car shipped. There are a bunch of companies that will wait until they get a full semi truck load of cars, then drive around delivering them to the same general area. That's how we got the F150. -
Werd. Toyota has been using KYB exculsively on many car lines (Like the Camry platform) for mroe than a decade. Hell even the major front engine mount is a KYB strut. Nothing wrong with aftermarket replacements, but you got ripped if he sold it to you as OEM. Toyota = KYB
-
Yes, the ES 350 / Gen 6 Camry will be out sometime. We still dont' know when... But sometime. Hang out a year & pay 2/3 the original price for one coming off a lease. I doubt the dealers will have any left at the end of the year 2 buy.

No kidding LoL! Read the o2 sensors & see if it's sending 2 much fuel & check the plugs. Maybe incomplete combustion?
-
EGR richens the mixture. When you take it away, if anything they lean out under low throttle/light load. That's crazy! Wierd truck.

Anytime. ;) Stainless steel ones are pretty tho! :D

Ya. You can cut a 1" square of panty hose, pull the front crancase breather off the valve cover, fold the panty hose over twice, put it around the barb & put the hose back on & clamp it. Same fot the PCV valve. Accomplishes the same thing, costs nothing, is maintenance free. It's a waste of time. It's not the PCV, or open front breather that create a problem, it's the GD EGR. It's a waste of money to spend anything on a catch can N/A. You really need to be FI & having 3x the blowby before you'll need to even think about oil consumption out the two crackcase breathers. Toyota shields the underside of the PCV & Breather pick-ups & they are routed from the middle area of the valve covers. The only oil that get's splashed up there is if you're running hard 'cause the cam intermesh gears are really slinging it around. You can do it, but I wouldn't waste the money on it. If you don't have emessions, block your EGR, off & fool the EGR sensor with a resistor. Then clean the UIAC & everything by hand & seafoam the intake to clean out the combustion chambers. It'll stay clean then.

Don't be afraid to run farther. It's an 18.49 gallon tank. Find the time to sit down & clean the throttlebody & such. Ya, you just diluted the gas. Run it up to 375-380 & fill it so you don't leave as much crap in there.

The best exhaust.... is no exhaust. Unless it's having to make it's way throguh a turbine.

Synthetic rules all comers. Just look at R/C engines that are extremely hi-po methanol engine's turning 10-15-20-35,000 rpm of highly advanced construction with 15-25:1 CR's. Dino, and caster oils simply don't provide the lubrication even basic synthetic oils do. Engine life in both ABC, and 4-stroke engines is much longer on synthetic anything than dino, or caster based oils. Engine performance is also raised.

The media is geared towards being supremely biased, while the population in general is highly ignorant, and refuses to learn, or look at multiple sides to any subject in question. The media sucks !Removed!.

I don't know. Best I can tell you is download the FSM, & check how the fuel tank, fill neck, and EVAP system on your car works. You are getting gas at different stations right? I've encountered a lot of pumps that will do that & need servicing, or whatever.
-
Search EGR valve. Front of the upper intake air chamber, right after the throttlebody. Go download the 1994 Camry repair manual.

Ya same thing happened with mine. Long story short s*x, ex-girlfriend, struck a nerve", foot through radio knob. I just threw mine in the junkyard. For what they cost to repair you can get aftermarket headunits that are 3-4x better.

S ok, Factory Service Manual. I think somebody stickied it. (Thanks whoever LoL!)

OLT (Brian, a super-mod on ClubLexus) does good work. Why don't you contact him? PM him on ClubLexus, email him, or chat with him. He's easy to get in touch with.

dj77 download the '98 FSM I posted. SteveyG download the '93 FSM I posted. One screw goes up & down, one screw goes left & right. No, silverstars will not put enough light on the road for you to need to point them down below the spcification. You shouldn't be hitting more than about halfway up the average trunk. That does not mean your headlights are aligned & not blinding people right now, or that your headlights are low, or off center. At 20' the beam cut-off should be the same height off the ground as the headlights.

Wow, CC'd black. I wonder how bad it shows flaws? That was always the reason nobody ever use to do it. I gave my grandfather some NXT. For a fairly easy to find store bought wax, I thought it was pretty good. I really liked the lubricity of the soap more than anything else. Very good for store bought. They have an '04 Taurus. It was a brown/gold/green metal flake. I honestly didn't like how NXT looked on it, so I just wash it with dishwashing soap to strip any waxes, then Klasse AIO+2*SG. I do that about every 6-9 months, and he washesh it every other-third week. I can tell when he washesh it every 2 weeks, 'cause the klasse will still bead water fairly well after 6 months. Now that I've run out of Clearkote wash, and 2 gallons of blue coral. Good old blue coral... Been around for decades, still costs a dollar a gallon ROTFLMAO! I'm thinking about buying some NXT soap for myself. I don't really feel like buying more sonus wash. Sonus makes a hella good washing shampoo too. The guy up the street uses it on his vette after I introduced him to Autopia. It'd use it, but I don't wanna pay for it lol! Clearkote is great stuff tho. The guy formulated everything himself, then spent years riding around the soutwest (Texas) selling it. How cool is that LoL! Vanilla Moose is the best glaze I've ever used. Carnauba Moose is the best Carbauba I've ever used. You can even get a descent use with it in full sun! WTF!? I apply it by hand & take it of with a MF bonnet on my PC tho. Still... No other carnauba can do that. Quikshine is a good QD spray. Comes by the gallon. Everything else is just so-so.
