  1. what are the valuers and limits for each of the tested parts?
  2. if it is anything like the 94 which is a different engine it is right over the water pump not the easiest to get to
  3. the brand i have used is called bullseye about 8 bucks and comes with a plunger to remove any air and push the acrylic into the seams if any not sure where in the states but uap or napa should have it
  4. if it idles fine and smooth then yes my 94 es it about 600 how mahy cars do you own es sc and an ls?
  5. white smoke is coolant i guess it is drippig down into the cylinders you need to have a compression test to see which one it might be but it more than likely is the head gasket leaking which may or may not show on a compression test the rpms will rev high when the car is cold until it has warmed up it is natural for it
  6. it might be because you have a radio theft code meaning if the radio has one in it it will not turn on until the code goes in once the power is off

  8. you can ask you dealer to trade the car for that option that is the only simple procedure other wise it is alot of parts to be removed and replaced to get it like door panels dash rear parcel shelf then i am sure well over 1000 for the parts
  9. i might say the car jsut needs a good alignment are you or was the previous owner heavier than 225 lbs as it may need you to be in the drivers seat while it gets aligned as this will cause the suspension to go down thus changing all the values ,which is a good reason for chamber wear which is what you have
  10. you will have to open up the whole assembly to get the plastic mast out which mean removing it from the trunk also if you retract the broken mast there is still no plastic? you might want to try and use the ant removing procedure to get the inner mast out it it has just disconected from it but you will still need a new mast
  11. first list the year and colour milage modifications how long owned and any of the problems you have had and fixed and if you remember where and how much it cost to fix also the date of any repairs, to get an idea of how long the original parts lasted if you use synthetic fluids or regular as well also timing belt and water pump changes or other maintance service done like getting the shims added in the valve to stop the tapping or broken engine mounts it would also be interesting if you stated the location if not in the side bar and added how much you pay for insurance plus age ( so those of us who are getting hosed by the insurance companies can see) please post once and not reply to any posts to save space on the "oh i have that problem also" replies as this thread will reach way to long and bore members from reading the rest as it looks like conversation of 3 pages if you would like to add anything at a later point i would suggest using the edit button on the right of your post this will give people a good idea of your car and any problems and simple fixes to them if possible if ther is somehting you want to ask a specific member PM them( private message) if it might help other owners put up a new thread listing it thanks and look forward to see what you got 1994 ES 300 dark green with purple and brown pearl all painted one colour instead of 2 tone 198 000 km bought in 96 from a lotus dealer for 28 000 canadian with 72 000 km used to pay 2500 a year when i was under 25 no am 28 and pay 1000 a year this is in the biggest city in Canada with full insurance lexus warrenty had front wheel hub replaced for free has the rear abs sensor fixed for 315 at the same time engine mounts twice wipers would not work properly , would stop when i took off the switch ,didnt' matter the position it would just park in the windsheild,they replaced everything 3 months after the warrenty expired from motors to switces and relays. just to fiind it was the coloum stalk paid to have new optima yellow top battery and terminals plus gwires from batt as they were slightly corroded and brittle 300 95-96 front lower grill to match my new rectangle fogs ( after an accident with a truck tire) changed all fluids to synthetic power steering which is tranny fluid oil always since i have owned it and tranny is but it seems these trannies do not like synthetic as they begin to slip and wear with it changed all the bulbs in the dash and hvac controller had timing belt at lexus for about 800 with parts neon light in trunk so i can see at night since the stupid little one in there is useless 80 replaced weatherstriping on both sides of the doors in 97 ,stillmade no difference for about 200 still have problems with alternator not working at full potential when hot and at idle a grinding noise from my power steering pump pulley( possible bearing) steering wheel cracking lcd on hvac doesn't work unless i push in one corner ( too lazy to find loose connection) brake pedal real spongy ( will get stainless steel brake lines to fix) slight condensation when i power wash the car have to resilicone them after i remove the corner reflectors 3rd brake ligth mount is broken as it will not stay in place ,since it is a pain in the butt to remove and broke 2 clips on it only have 3 led s on the needles out, one for each needle ( i am pretty lucky,since my alternator isn't at full output it lowers its voltage thus keeping the needles from full power and heat ,so as not to fail) am in the process of doing my engine mount in ureathane again ( as i sold mine) to stop it from breaking again and again replaced the hood stuts with camry ones,then realized on of mine wa still good and i just switched sides of having one good and one bad hood strut driver side seat belt does not always stay locked ,have to pull up each time to make sure have a slight drip of a/c oil inside the dash,it has been there since i had the car ,but the a/c still blow real cold all prices are canadian dollars all mods are listed in my signiture so i won't repeat it and waste space
  12. the vsc light should trigger the cel automatically also it is probably a computer or wiring problem as the hubs and abs module are also used by the abs so if it didn't light up then it should be along those lines
  13. yah it happens no worries it is mainly a theft detterent to lock the wheel so even if a theif breaks the key cylinder the wheel will not turn my biggest problem with the lock is once had a key chain of a lexus L that i mistakenly had the key pushed through i inserted it in the cylinder it is easy to get the key in with no play but in order to remove the key it has to be pushed in to release the key chain had taken up all the play and caused me 30 minutes of agrevation to relase it
  14. i agree with steve get oem glass or you will also suffer the awful waveness of cheap glass which has caused some members to feel slightly sick from it i guess you always learn new things as i have seen it fill in smal holes as well didn't think it wuold work but it would be a pain in the !Removed! to do a whole windsheild
  15. well an idiot engineer probably did engineer your beautiful nissan sorry for flaming you but you should atleast try and investigate things before attacking them the reason a toyota lasts so long and trouble free is just because of its stupid engineering the main reason is not only to reduce emissions on a cold car but to let the engine receive it maximum amount of lubrication at start up any 1st year engineering student will tell you that basically the upper part of the engine is very dry at start up as most of the oil has all dripped down to the pan so basically to save 90% of all engine wear (which is at startup) they make the engnie lubricate it self properly as metal on metal is not a very good thing now you know the reasoning to the stupid engineering
  16. actually the bulls eye are made to fill the openeing from the missing glass and it has on other chips of that sort
  17. it does have avariable effort is it stiff all the time or when driving slow or fast
  18. the battery in the key will do nothing for your model or year as the "chip" is only an immoblizer that stops the engine form turning over but lets the key turn anyway i am guessing you needed to turn the wheel left to right to unlock the wheels locking mechanism

  20. that is odd i would ask them why they don't think it has a warrenty and also are you saying the lexus bumper to bumper is done and the drivetrain one is stil godd or that noen of them are any good anymore and you havea reseller of warrenties? my 94 es had 5 year warr until 99 oct with 110 000 km
  21. it was just a thought which i am know for oddities to try only reson that i figured it might work is that there is the acrylic in the bulls eye windsheild chip damage restorer which fills the hole with acrylic to create a perfect clear finish once dried as the light is no longer being bounced around the edges of the chip anymore as it is now filled i also noticed when doing this to cars that the areas around the chi also got much smotther as well which is where my odd idea comes from maybe it might work with another product but if you did the whole windsheild it might end up getting wavy to say the least

  23. first question do you need a warrenty for a 97 no, these cars have very littel problems if any do the computers go down no, i have never heard of any lexus neednig to change an ecu yet you did not mention is it a lexus dealer you got the car from with that kind of mileage i am guessing it definatly is not a lpov is there any warrenty on the car if you do not take it and who services the car for a repair if needed also what stupid clauses are int eh contract as in where and when for oil changes and other disclaimers that null and void the contract for 1600 from some company i wouldn't spend it 1600 with lexus then maybe but it is not really needed
  24. weird my insurance company said it had an active alarm meinnig i had to do something to get it armed i even said i have another alarm and they said it made no difference then i asked about passive and tehy said that an active alarm saves me more
  25. i woul say it is easier to see all of the belt but you don't have to if you don't want to make sure also the panel in fornt of the belt has just a few clips or plugs so just pull it away from the pilar and it pops off
