A Bit Of A Problem W/ My 1997 Es300
SKperformance replied to akiraxtc's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
The shock assembly clunks and the sway bar creaks over bumps. The bushing can need replacing depending on what is making the noise it can even be a worn shock or the sway usually needs to be lubed at the bushings . -
It can mean the rad cap needs replacing or there is air in the system. It is prettty normal to move up and down. If it overflows or drains out then you have a problem.

From the tread pattern they look like kuhmo 712's ,to me they are pure junk and not worth a red cent. they don;t handle an the side walls buldge. They are only good for the sake of getting a set of rubber to run bettween the road and the rim,and have ZERO performance or reliability worth. I wouldn;t even use them for a tire swing.

Looking For Atlezza Type Tail Lights Rx300
SKperformance replied to superk13's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
You already have altezza's ,(meaning round red) you might be able to upgrade to the 00-03 look which have a darker chrome. There are no clear tails like the new rx 330. -
A Bit Of A Problem W/ My 1997 Es300
SKperformance replied to akiraxtc's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Thanks for the vote of confidence wub ,either that or i always have an opinion .lmao ;) :o The stink is mold buy the can of bacteria killer and spray it on the passenger side cowl to remove the bacteria ,it is best wehn it is hot outside and done atleast 3 tiems in a week to make sure you get it all. The cv makes a constant clicking sound when the wheel is turned all the way in one diection and driven slowly. If it is more of a single noise or clunk then it might be a ball joint popping out from play but not the cv. If you have a cv replaced for $60 then 100% it is not a proper repair. It is done using a speed boot .Basically a split boot is put in place over the inner or outer cv and then a adhesive bonding agent is added to make the unit one whole thing to keep the grease in. Then clamps are put on the ends .If the repair takes less than and hour it is a split bootTo replace a boot properly like i did 2 months ago on my ES i had to remove the wheel ,disconnect the end links on the sway bar, remove a splash sheild, brake caliper and rotor, disconnect the tie rod ,undo the axle boltand cotter, unscrew one main bolt, remove a c clip. then slide the shaft out. Then to remove the boots and replace you need to undo 6 bolts on the inner cv,undo 2 c clips, clean grease undo clamps on both ends of axle, slide off joint then boot, then outer boot . Then fill with new grease and reverse this whole procedure. I would gladly pay someone $60 bucks to do mine but i would never use a split boot. I didn;t buy a lexus to fit hyundai standard of quality repairs on it. Never mind an axles is int eth huindreds of dollar range to replace and only save the last 20 minutes of boot replacement. Hope this makes it a bit easier to understand the reason why it costs so much. -
Gs 300 Problem With Egr Valve/modulator
SKperformance replied to StevenWI's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
Depending on wether the egr is having excessive or insufficent flow i wouldn;t bother with it if it is excessive as this will reduce emissions and save you gas. When mine is stuck open i get 550-600 km a tank when it works normally i barely get 450-500 km a tank. the distributer is normal for wearing parts,What did they say is wrong with it? -
92 Es Driver's Seat Height
SKperformance replied to dropspace's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
With the sunroof option the height is reduced by almost 2 inches. The best way is to buy a sport seat( they recling compared to a race seat that is fixed). This way you can have a bracket to lower the seat or raise it to a specific height. You probably do not want to go through the trouble of all that . You can try and remove some padding by taking it to an automotive upolster to remake the lower pad and lenghten it to fit you more comfortable. It is tough as there are heaters in the seat and the motors on the base. -
NO problem latoilette , 245 would rub no matter the offset either inside or outside. The front it would fit but the rears would have trouble and tehy can't be rolled as there is not enough lip on the rear quater to move out befor the fold in the sheet metal for the door jam. You can cut or grind the inside of the fender lining out to make it possible but then you have to play with offsets to get it right. The eibach and stock shocks are your best bet for a firmer drive without any harshness. It is useless to look at a pic as they are 1 inch for the drop and they show nothing in difference except in the back. The fronts always look the same in height. Depending on how old the shocks you have you might want to get new oem ones when changint the springs.

$1000 is a more reasonable range for the tranny with 60 000 100 000 miles. $400 -600 (150 000 and up miles )would be for a tranny that would last a year and would be better to rebuild first.
-
the title says 97 es 300
-
20's on the mcv-10 will fit but not drive as they will rub all over not matter the offset.

The ml is a better performing truck hands down. But it reliability of late for the Ml is horendous with problems. If you don;t mind having to go to the dealer to get repairs often then get the ML.Otherwise the LX is a proven platform for reliability and a supple ride.

Time To Change The Oil On The Gs4
SKperformance replied to SUPRAboy80's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
From all the parts listings almost every toyota/lexus i have seen use the exact same filter .So you can get them at a toyota dealer.I only use oem filters everytime,i also buyu them in bulk to save some time and cash. I think most owners have synthetic and love it ,as i do also. -
You have no pictures to show the damage so it is completly impossible to guess what real damage is done. Have you gone to a body shop where they will have to pul the frame back to get an estimate? As there is no way any diy can paint and pull a frame straight in there garage?
-
Sway bars do not give you a stiff suspension ,they elimate roll. There are no adjustable shocks from kyb in this application. 245 tires will not fit. The bar helps tremndously on the mcv 10 chasiss especially. The 90-96 300zx is know to have extremly bad suspension that wears out the bushings easily.
-
It isn;t hidden it is supposed to be on the left side of the trunk.
-
;) I think i did mention the whiteline and the suspension possibilities. But basically what do you want comfort ,look or performance? If you want comfort then stick with the stock shocks with eibach pro kit springs ,they have a marginal difference and little drop. looks then you would need to change the springs and shocks for reduced travel. Performance then tokicko shocks are harsh but more performace oriented then you can pick and choose your springs to a desired height. Sway bars are a waste if you don't have added traction from a rim and tire setup to handle the added traction or else you will slide off the road when wet in a turn.

Blinker Prob. I Can't Figure It Out
SKperformance replied to Latoilette's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
you will only be able to know by tracing it back throught the wires. Have you reinstalled the old lights to see if it stopped. Each side signal is on its own cuicit the hazard just runs on it own relay. -
It depends on if you drive the car alot before you unscrew the cap. If so then it will cause a large mount of vacume as you have such a large tank not taken up with air inside . It might also be a bad gas cap. You sure are creating a whole lot of questions on the lx side of things. No problem though as it does just everyone talking. ;)
-
Personally it is just better to buy new ones as painting them will just flake off really easy. Make sure you get a toyota style one as the oem rims have a funny edge that only toyota uses.
-
There is a bit of a fuel difference but the biggest ting is if you floor the car it downshifts and holds the gears anyway so it is useless really .Also the trannies are not the best so having it change gears in a higher rpm is more likely to wear it faster.
-
The toyota filters are pretty big and tehy don't have to be changed much because theere is a silt filter in the base of the tank which stops most particles from destroying the pump .So only very small things get to the pump or filter.Which is why it takes so long if ever to get clogged. I changed mine once, it was a complete waste of time, once i opened it up iit was as clean as a new one after 4 years of use.
