  1. I totally love my 02 ES. The only non-routine service that I have had done in 39,000 miles is: Front Brake TSB: totally covered Replaced faulty O2 sensor: totally covered Replace right front strut assembly: totally covered. yes you get a loaner, and the loaner is a Lexus. the total coverage warranty is 4 yr/50,000 mile (does not include regular servie items). The powertrain warranty is 7 yr/70,000 mile. regular service is what you make it. There is what is suggested by Lexus and there is what has been suggested on this and other web sites. They vary slightly. The best thing about the Lex is that if you are handy with a wrench, most of the regualr service items can be done in your driveway. Keep in mind that the GS is RWD and the ES is FWD. Two totally different cars. I am not sure if the C230 is F- or R- WD. I recently had a BMW 325i for a week........by day 4 I was jonesing for my Lex. I hope this helps. steviej
  2. lxs300, don't be confused with filter 90915-20004. This was the most popular filter from Japan that many members here and on CL raved about and stood in line to get. This filter, however, was for the V8 not the V6. 90915-20004 was also discontinued in Dec. 2003, the replacement filter now is 90915-YZZD3. steviej
  3. A very good question was raised. How will we know each other when we get there? I'll be the one driving a Lexus. OK, seriously. It was suggested on CL that we have name tags in our front window. I am going to print one out on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet (landscape) and have my screen name on it. Put both names if you have a different one on CL or MBWorld, etc. I say we try and get there a little early, say noon, and get the jump and make an LOC corner. If they do it like at Alley Pond Park, they will try to group the cars by models, which is totally cool and makes picture taking very organized. steviej
  4. mburnickas, I stand paritally corrected. I meant to type 3 but I typed 1. Had the 1 in mind from 100,000. Oh well so much for not proof reading. According to Lexus.com the CPO is 3 years from your date of purchase or 100,000 total vehicle miles (whichever comes first). Here is the link: http://www.lexus.com/cpo/index.html mind you this is what is published as of 4/2004. The CPO criteria may have been different when you purchased yours in 2001. Lexus, of course, would have to honor the criteria in place at the time of your purchase for the time stated in your agreement. as for starting wars, not even a thought. This is the proper place for civil discussions and exchange of ideas. steveij
  5. when my light comes on and the "range" indicator reads 0, I have about 1.5 to 2 gallons left in the tank. I figure I got about 50 miles to go until I am dead in the road. steviej. PS. best thing to do, get gas before you see the light.
  6. These are the filters available for the 1MZFE today (that i have used): Toyota/Denso: 90915-YZZD1 (replaces 90915-YZZB9) Mobil 1: M1-102 K&N Gold: HP-1002 steviej
  7. I have to admit, I was skeptical at first, but the Dunlop Sport A2's are turning out to be a sweet tire. steviej
  8. Awesome Philly. There is a whole crew coming from Philly. You will be able to meet many of you locals. I think there is even a caravan in the works from Philly. So far there is potentially over 125 cars planning on being there. This thing is going to be huge. steviej
  9. that's what I was going to say. Cadillac had such a flop with this they dumped it and even swapped out peoples cars. maybe the software mechanical technology have advanced far enought to make this feasable. Time will tell. steviej
  10. Certified Pre-Owned It is the fancy term car manufacturers called "used". All the makers have their coined term for pre-owned. CPOs are through the dealership and have passed a long checklist of function and qualitly checks. The CPO vehicle usually comes with a 1 year or 100,000 total mile warranty. Typical used cars don't have this. If I were to buy a used vehicle, I would most definately go the route of CPO. steviej
  11. I think that is a dealer reset. toyota can do it too.
  12. I think they were Australian. I liked the pidgeon one, but the one with the cat..... I AM NOT AMUSED. neither was my cat, Spot. steviej
  13. lxs300, Hayes has a manual for the 97-01 ES300. It is less than $20.00 on Amazon. mburnickas, nice to see you over here, too. B) steviej

  15. Lexusfreak, take it easy, 2GZ's post is four days previous to yours. The cap lock issue has been covered and 2GZ is cool with it. B) oh yeah, welcome back. :D steviej
  16. welcome to the club Philly!!! check out the thead for the upcoming meet in Edison, NJ. Close to 60 Lexus, 50 BMW and 25 MB should be showing up. This shouldn't be too far from Philly. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=7930& steviej
  17. welcome to the club. steviej
  18. sw, I was not impressed with the SportDesign. Something about the wheels turned me way off. I'm not a fan of wheels color that matches car color. However, the black marble trim is very very nice. I mean real nice! Other than that, it's the same car. nancyd, are you dealing with IRA Lexus in Danvers? Tires with nylon belts will get flat spots if they sit long enough, but are a minute or so of motion, centrifugal force trues the tires right up. Also, ask the dealer to do a wheel alignment. Most new cars are delivered to the dealer without an alignment. Maybe yours didn't get one, or the tech rushed the job......maybe he was backed up. They can also level the steering wheel at the same time. It all comes down to customer satisfaction. Push that at them all the time. Enjoy the ES and maybe I will run into to you at an area meet sometime. steviej
  19. Proudly display LOC stickers in your windows. Make it a point to park near other Lexi. I had an fellow Lexus owner ask me what ClubLexus was when I had those stickers in my window. People will ask. steviej
  20. Please see the first post of this thread. The April 25th Northeast Lexus/MB/BMW meet has been relocated to Roosevelt Park in Edison, NJ. All directions are posted in the first post of this thread. steviej
  21. sw, the 2004s are being shipped with a variety of tires. I was just at the dealership Sat. The 2004 ES had Dunlop 5000's on it but the 2004 ES SportDesign has the Bridgie RE92s. A left over 2003 had Michelins. I must say, I am quite surprised with the Dunlop Sport A2's that I just recently put on. We have had rain every day since last weekend and these tires are awesome in the rain and on dry pavement. Time will tell if they hold true and how long their tread lasts. steviej.
  22. welcome to the club KTS. How far are you from Oregon? you might want to check out this section of LOC: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showforum=18 steviej
  23. check the level when the coolant is cold. It should be between the L and F markings. Only use the type of coolant that you have now....ORANGE (some say RED). Whatever you do, don't add the green stuff to it. You can buy 50/50 premixed Toyota Long Life Coolant at any Toyota or Lexus dealership. Bring the level up in the coolant jug not the radiator. The coolant level in the reservoir will vary with engine temperature. If the level is on or below the L line when cold, add coolant to the jug. Bring the level up to the F line. steviej
  24. jen, also note that the TRAC light and check engine light on together can mean the car has gone into a "safety" mode and may not involve the TRAC system at all. A common cause of this can be the emissions system, the charcol canister to be exact. Get the codes read and see if the warranty will fix it. Also look into any TSBs that may exist, if there is one for the problem that is identified, that may help defray the cost. you can get a list of TSB (technical service bulletins) on www.alldata.com good luck and let us know what the problem was. Have faith in your car, it will treat you right. If there was a perfect car......everyone would be driving it. That would make for a boring world and alot of out of work mechanics. steviej
  25. you fail to mention the year of you 13000 mile ES. If it is a 2002 or 2003 there is a TSB covering the front brakes for vibration. There was a material mismatch and the rotors warp prematurely, especially when subject to lots of highway driving and heat. The noise you describe was one of my symptoms before they did the TSB work. As for the flopping, is it a metal or plastic flopping sound. Have you peeked under the car to see if you can see anything. There is a large plastic shielding just under the front of the car. You say the flopping sound and grinding sound happen all the time, but did they develop simultaneously? steviej
