  1. Hi, I also have a 99 and I just set my seats. If you want to set them both what I did was put the key at the "on" position and put it in park. I set one seat by pushing the set button then the seat 1 button. After it beeped I started the car then I turned it off, opened the door then closed the door and put key back in the "on" postition and did the same thing for set button #2. Now I don't think you have to do all this but I tried it how the book said and it wasn't working so I did it this way and vwa-la it worked.
  2. My airbag light was on and to reset it they had to fix an open circuit that was causing the airbag light to go on. It cost about $67.00. Hope yours is either nothing or something very simple like mine was.
  3. If you get the satellite radio do you have to get a certain compatable radio? Also do you have to pay a monthly fee? What is the average fee? I'm anxious to see how you like it. Have fun with your new toy :)
  4. I'm thinking about ordering the complete wood grain package and a steering wheel cover that has half wood half leather. Mine has some wood grain but I like how it looks with the whole radio unity having wood. Do you know where I can find the name of the color of wood Lexus has in it already? Thank you so much.
  5. Your car is soooo pretty, looks like mine :D except I don't have the creases on the hood. Mine is a '99. I love the white on grey. Thanks for sharing your pic. I'll post a pic of mine later. Where did you buy your car from? I got mine from Killeen, TX. About the CD changer, I'm wondering since you have the in-dash CD player if you won't have a CD changer???? I have the CD changer but no in dash CD player just a tape deck.
  6. Ok took it to the Lexus dealer and your right, the TRAC light comes on because it is right next to the warning indicator light. The dealership I bought the car from (not a lexus dealer BTW) is going to reimburse me for the key remote tranmitter, a spare key getting made, the open circuit for the air bag system, the deductable for having to use the extended warranty on this newest problem. If I didn't have the extended warranty I would have to pay almost $500.00 so I'm glad I got it now. I'm glad the dealer is stepping up to the plate and paying me back for these things which come close to $400.00. They advertised the car has NO mechanical problems what so ever and close to perfect. I understand I bought it and all but I had my first problem with the car only a week after I got it and the dealer only giving me 1 key and everytime I opened my car door the alarm would sound is not right at all. I told the manager from the dealership which I bought it from that I haven't even received the registration yet and the car has been to the shop 3 times already! Thanks again everyone. My car gets out of the shop tomorrow and I can't wait. I hope this is it for at least a while now.
  7. I guess you guys are right. It just that I thought a Lexus would be perfect, at least mine anyways, lol. And it's just scary to think...what next? The warranty does not cover anything to do with airbags and also they don't cover any diagnostic checks, that is why I had to pay for it. Same with the traction stuff. I read over the warranty and it dosen't say anything about covering traction control. I think it is the traction control because that light and the "warning indicator" symbol light came on and and stayed on at the same time. The warranty also states that it will not cover anything that isn't writtin in the "covered" part. I am still trying to find out what the factory warranty will cover, so far just the drive train and corrosion. I have my homework cut out for me Monday. PEP BOYS? They can hook it up and check the codes? I bet they are cheaper then Toyota and Lexus. I have my 60k service due soon is it better to take to Lexus for that or would Toyota do fine? Thanks again.
  8. Ok recap. I bought a BEAUTIFUL 99 Lexus ES300 about 1 month ago. It currently has 59k miles on it. Well a week after I got it the airbag light flashed, got it checked out it was only an open circuit wire and was fixed for $67 and no more problems with that. Well tonight while I was driving the "TRAC OFF" and the warning indicator light came on (they are right next to each other) at the same time. SO I pulled over and put the TRAC control to off and drove a little and the lights were still on then pulled over put the TRAC control back on and still both lights stayed on. I don't know whether to be mad or just cry. I love this car but these things are not supposed to be happening, I mean it's a Lexus! My Mom has a 96 and NEVER has 1 light ever came on and she has over 100k miles on it. I know I can't sell a "lemon" so if I do fix it then I'll def. sell it then. I'm afraid to see what will happen next. After I fix it what should I sell it for? When I bought the car I bought a full extended warranty also for 3 years. UGH!!!!!
  9. I just got my paprework from the insurance compsny and where it states the description of my car and VIN # it states "LEXUS/ES300/COAH" what is th COAH? My first thought was yeah hoo Coach but it can't be. Does anyone know what it is?
  10. I went to the Toyota dealer today and they said they would try to find out why my air bag light is blinking, that would cost $48.95. So far so good since Lexus dealership was charging $98.00 for the same thing. So anyways they found the problem, it is an "open circuit". To reconnect the wires it would be an additional $68.00 but they said if they fix it they won't charge me the diagnostic fee. So I basically got a $116.95 job done for $68 plus tax. :D Now I have to go to the actual dealership to get a spare key made. Thanks again for everyone's input on my previous post. B)
  11. Thank you. I have an appointment at the "stealership" (that was funny branshew) next week to get the air bags looked at and a master key made. Thanks everyone for your replies. :)
  12. The valet key????? UGH! Can I buy one of those blank master keys from e-bay or no? If not, no biggee but I always look at e-bay first, lol. 60% off, lucky you, I want your friend!
  13. VBdenny, I'll be calling Lexus tomrrow to check it out, won't hurt, right? But I highly doubt it and I do know the kia has the 100k warranty. My hubby is from Virginia and has lots of family in Virginia Beach. We vacation there every summer, I love it but the beach seems to be getting more dirty every summer. Oh and by the way my hubby would love your Cutlass, so if you ever want to sell, just let me know, lol. ;)
  14. Lol Senna, cut the Coaches up...ouch! ;) I never thought that someone may have took the airbags out. :( How could I find out? I guess I'll be going to a Toyota dealership today to see if they have lower prices for just "looking".
  15. Hi! Thanks for the replies. I live in San Antonio. I would love to find somewhere I can take my car and know I am not getting ripped off. B) Impulse buy...hmmm....well I have always wanted a Lexus and I did look around here and there for the past 6 months for a good deal. Buying a used car, no matter what kind of car, I know if I wait a bit longer I may get the same car somewhere else but for less money and that's what I did. For the longest time all I saw were 99's having over 70k miles and priced around $16,900 and up. So when I saw this one I went down there, test drove it, had a mechanic look over it fairly quickly and was on my way back home with my dream car. Impulse...maybe it was. But I still do not think I should get screwed. The Coach edition sounds soooo nice. OK I'm jealous now, lol.
