  3. Now what is a good meet thread without some motor shots.
  4. Did someone say LUNCH!!!! The best part of lunch was the 5 trays of Tiramisu.
  5. Note to self: get your fat balding head out of the reflection next time. However, the Altezza tag and the eyebrows make this IS. Interesting combo, SC430 wheels on a GS.......I like it. The ulimate LS.
  6. Hard to believe but this front lip was fabricated, painted and displayed in under 24 hours. Amazing.
  7. a soccer mom in her minivan wanted in on the pictures and the fun. This picture doesn't due the color justice, but it has to be one of the nicest colors lexus has come up with. Parchment Pearl. This GS is just too too nice. One word says it all.
  8. Ross Dock was a bit of an adventure to find, but once there, it couldn't have been better. It is right on the banks of the Hudson in Fort Lee NJ at the base of the George Washington Bridge. We called the rock hill, " little Mt. Rushmore".
  9. lexusk8's ES up front and mine hiding in the back. lexusk8 is sporting 2002+ ES wheels on his perfectly shined black 01 ES.
  10. hey, I am learning everday, too. Alan, I removed the ES forum post that you spoke of. steviej

Click on that box and you should be able to delete posts that you made. If that doesn't work, then contact a moderator. steviej
  12. have you read the owners manual? :whistles: I am sure this is covered in there. steviej
  13. sport, keep in mind that TRAC and VSC are two different things. Only the TRAC has the specific cancelation button. I am not sure if VSC still works regardless of TRAC being on or off. steviej
  14. Jill, try some more windex on the areas adjacent to the ultra-clean area. See if you can't blend that area in. Another thought is that the leather may just be extremely dried out due to the windex. Try a quality leather moisteriser on that area. I'm grabbin at straws here. steviej
  15. slate, look in the owners manual. They usually give you the jack points. On my ES there is a frame cross-member just in front of the engine that has a rounded "bulb", this is where the floor jack goes. I usually jack it high enought to get 2 jack stands under the car for safety. The jack stands go under the frame rails just behind the front tires. The GS should/may be similar. here are some pictures to help. I hope this helps. steviej
  16. MNJack, Lexusfreak was referring to the actual record of what was done to the car in the past. When buying a car it is wise to inquire and see proof that the proper maintenance was performed. I would shy away from a car that has 110,000 miles on it from an owner that changed the oil and filter "whenever" as opposed to the identical car from an owner that religiously changed the oil and filter every 5,000 miles. Do you see where he and I are coming from. Your point is well taken about major services coming up, but simply stated, a view at the maint. history of a car can tell you alot about the car and how it was treated. steviej
  17. Your salesman is mis-informed. The ES330 has a five speed tranny. 4 (or D4 as you say) allows the tranny to shift up through first gear to fourth gear and does not allow the tranny to go into overdrive. D (no 4) allows shifting into overdrive. Your pre-2002 ES300 had a four speed tranny.....D was the overdrive position, so your shift lever had P, R, N, D, 3, 2, 1 In either shift position the car will shift up through first, second, third and fourth the same from a standing start. The salesman is just skirting the subject. The manual actually states using 4 instead of D when going uphills and when there is a prolonged load on the car. You will not hurt the car, you will only hurt your gas mileage by using 4 instead of D. I just put it in D and let it go at that. you can avoid most severe hesitations by not putting the pedal to the metal. Rapid acceleration can be achieved at 3/4 throttle with minimal hesitation. It takes time and trial and error to get aquainted with this method. My first insticnt was to stomp it, even from a red light. steviej
  18. ;) you're welcome.
  19. why are you driving the Sherman Pass at 90mph in the first place. If you turn the TRAC control off, you will may achieve the feel you seek. Think twice about this. steviej
  20. Look into the Continental ContiExtreme Contacts. steviej
  21. depends on what you want done. There is the Lexus schedule of what the stealership will do for "their" 30,000 check up and then you can decide what you really want. I splurged for this but did the oil and filter myself. It includes all fluid (coolant, ps, brake, oil&filter, tranny/diff) replacement. (I will do my own tranny drain & fills from now on as well). They also rotate the tires and check a few bolts. not to mention a wash and vacuum. If you use Lexus of Norwood, have it done on a Sat and eat all the buffet. In regards to doing it yourself, just keep a log and all your purchase receipts. You don't have to do this at the dealer either. Toyota can do it for less and there are plenty of qualified and competant independent shops in MA that can do what is required. Where are you in MA, I can give you the names of a few. In regards to synlube, I must ask you, hosestly.....do you really thing going 150,000 miles without an oil change is good? Does this stuff meet or beat SAE standards? steviej
  22. valve cover gaskets and rear/main seals, have it checked for sludge, check color of tranny fluid. steviej
  23. do a search on PCV valve, there was a thread about a year or a year and a half ago that had pictures. steviej
  24. have you checked the level of the fluid? the first thing that came to my mind was a tranny mount or motor mount went. steviej
  25. 9 smiley faces show up as "a box with a red X and the word smile". This may be cause I am still cheap on still on dial-up. These 9 smiley faces used to be there before the upgrade so I do not think it is my dial-up. can be have instuctions on the + quote vs. the " reply. so far I'm getting by. Lastly, when the gallery comes back can we have a separte section for Club Event and Meet pictures? Since they will be a gamish of models, I don't want to split up the pics to the separate model secitons. steviej
