  1. I bought my ES 330 last week and wrote to you all about the hesitation upon acceleration problems. I have been consistently reading about this problem on the forum and it has really helped clear some things up. Yesterday, my salesman called and I told him I was dissapointed in the acceleration. I do mostly city driving and am really noticing the hesitation after a red light or bringing the car to a complete stop. He asked me what gear I was driving in, and I responded D. He told me that I should be driving in D4. I don't know much, OK anything, about cars..but in my old ES it was just plain old D. Can anyone explain to me if this is right? Should I be driving in D or D4. I don't want to hurt my engine...so would rather risk looking ditzy by posting this question...I'll blame it on the blonde hair :).
  2. Thanks Everyone for your replies. It really cleared things up for me. Congrats to Rob on the purchase of his new car. I chose the oasis green pearl with cashmere interior. I have always loved the mystic green of the 03-04 models...this is a little darker, but pretty nonetheless.
  3. Hey Everybody! Just got my 2005 ES yesterday and am very excited (but very nervous driving it!) My question is this: Does the way the car drives "improve" after you break it in, or does a Lexus need not to be "broken in". The acceleration and brakes feel awkward compared to my 1994 ES. A friend of mine with a Honda Pilot said that the dealership told her not to exceed 50 miles per hour until the car had about 500 miles on it. Is this a good idea? There is a definite hesitation upon acceleration like everyone with the 2003 models seem to be talking about..I just am not sure if the reason is because it's new. Thanks in advance for your input. Everyone has been so helpful. Thanks- Ashley
  4. Thanks for your help, snow and stevie. I am just going to trade it in this afternoon. I hope they don't come and inspect again. They already did the paperwork and the used car manager already signed off on my trade in. They are giving me a poor price anyway...so they probably won't really care. I appreciate your input.-Ashley
  5. Last night when I was driving in the rain the rubber stripping on my passenger side windshield wiper came off. I had to continue driving with the wipers on for about 20 minutes. Today I noticed that the windshield look scratched. Is there any way possible I can get this off or is the damage permanent? It is pretty faint, however, I am trading in my car on Monday, when my new one arrives. I need to know what I should do..any input would be appreciated. Thanks-
  6. Thanks Mike. I will call the dealership and ask about the price of a kit.
  7. Hi Everyone! I have really enjoyed reading this forum and have gotten lots of useful information. I have just recently purchased a 2005 ES 330, which I am very excited about. It is due to arrive on Friday. My question is this: I had an XM receiver(detachable) and the XM service on my 1994 Lexus. I have removed the receiver, before trading in my car. Does the new radio in the Lexus come XM ready, where all I would have to do is subscribe? Or do I have to get the navigation system to include the xm ready radio. If not, I could just transfer the old receiver into the new lexus. I was just hoping Lexus had caught up with the times and was making radios that came XM ready. I figured if anyone would know, you all certainly would. I appreciate any information you may have!
  8. Thanks. Supposedly the power steering is fine, but who knows at this point. I am just afraid to find out how much a trans. or torque converter cost.
  9. Hi everyone. I just found this site yesterday and have enjoyed reading all of your posts. I own a 1994 es300 with approx 110,000 miles. I have had NO trouble with the car since I bought it in 1998. I have had all the maintenance (including oil changes) at the dealership, since my mom works there and they give me her discount. I recently brought the car in for a humming noise and was told it was the compressor clutch to the AC going out. When they went to fix the clutch they said the whole compressor was bad and and so I got a new one. I changed my belts(all except timing) 2 weeks ago, new front and rear brakes, new tires and battery within last month. These were all optional things I chose for maintenance purposes. Last night when I picked up my car I noticed the humming was not fixed and more pronounced. It hums loudly only when I am at a stop or the car is not in gear yet. Once I hit the accelerator the noise goes away. There is also vibration in my steering wheel when the humming occurs. This morning they told me they think it's the torque converter in the transmission. Can just this part be replaced or do I need a whole new transmission? I was in tears this morning when hearing this because i have just spent about 1200 on the car in the past month. I don't know if it's worth putting more money into, but I am also worried I would get hardly anything if I tried to sell it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
