  1. The IS 500's performance and horsepower is about the same as that of the LC500, so no, Lexus is not "pulling a Mercedes or BMW" by cranking up the horsepower to 600+. Reliability is far more important than bragging rights. Side fact: There will be only 500 of the IC 500s produced.
  2. The only other thing I could find was someone who had to replace the fuel door actuator motor because it wouldn't pull the pin back all the way.
  3. The RX looks good. I would say that this is a fairly equal swap. It's hard to say for certain, as the condition and complete maintenance history of each is important when determining the market value. But if both were well maintained, you did get a good deal.
  4. 1. How often and for how many miles do you drive the vehicle? 2. How old is the battery? 3. Are both battery terminal clamps tight? (You should not be able to rotate either clamp.)
  5. I know this is a different model but perhaps the solution with work with your vehicle with the correct part number.
  6. "...if the manufacturer has made any updates to the transmission, say using a new friction material, your remanufactured transmission will also be updated. Many remanufactured transmissions are covered by extensive warranties. If something does fail in the future, there’s a good chance that it’ll be covered. This way, you can enjoy peace of mind while driving your Lexus RX 300." I have known this for many years. The thing to remember is that even older transmissions are extremely complicated. There is far less that can go wrong if a factory remanufactured transmission is swapped in.
  7. I'd recommend that you stop by the parts department at your nearest dealership and ask for a copy of the exploded view of this assembly. That should make it easy to access what is missing or broken.
  8. It most likely depends upon the road surface conditions. States that have cold winters tend to have more pot holes unless the specific city is very responsive about patching those pot holes. I've been driving on 40 and 45 series tires for 20 years and have never had a blowout.
  9. Have you reviewed these posts? Cup Holder Door Won't Open Fully - 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h - Lexus Owners Club of North America
  10. Are the battery posts' connections tight? Have you checked for any loose ground connections?
  11. I take our cars to Discount Tire, sit back, have a cup of coffee and relax while the rotation is done for free. I have rotated tires, over the years but not anymore. If you're not getting underneath the car, you don't need the jack stands if the vehicle is on level ground. By the way, the video opened perfectly for me. I have Windows 10 and Edge (the fastest browser of the bunch).
  12. Mike, I certainly agree with that sticker on your cart. 👍
  13. Throughout the years I have had to adjust headlights after lowering my car at the time. My verification process was to take the car out for a drive to judge the changes. If opposing direction car drivers flashed their high beams, I knew I had over-adjusted upward. 😄
  14. Good decision, Brett. I polish our headlight lenses every few years and the lighting is more than adequate as long as the lenses are clear. I've been buying parts from Rock auto for many years now and have nothing but good things to say about them. (a family owned company)
  15. Brett, it looks like HID lights are listed on that page. Do you wish to replace your HIDs because you want brighter lights? Or have your lights failed?
  16. Nice! That looks a bit like a 1957 Chevrolet. There are many here in the US with big engines in them. There is a mechanic on youtube who is installing a Jaguar V12 engine in a 1966 Chevelle Malibu. Engine Reveal! See what crazy engine the CAR WIZARD has selected to put in this '66 Chevelle Malibu - YouTube I watch some of his videos. He is a very good mechanic.
  17. Have you checked here? 2008 LEXUS RX400H 3.3L V6 ELECTRIC/GAS Headlamp Bulb | RockAuto It looks like they're not very expensive.
  18. Did you get someone to jump-start your car? If so, you can take it to an auto parts store so they can charge and test your battery and possible the alternator.
  19. As far as a stereo, you may want to check with Crutchfield: All Car Stereos at Crutchfield They have plenty of choices and excellent installation instructions for many vehicles. The owners/maintenance manual should have all the maintenance schedules. Maybe you can find one on Amazon's site.
  20. Yes, 0-60 MPH is about 4.5 seconds for the Vanderhall, which is close to the BMW i8 at about 4.2 seconds. The best sound from the Vanderhall is what is probably the turbocharger's waste gate. It's like hearing a big rig's air brake at almost the same sound level. You really can't wear a baseball cap; it would fly away at highway speeds, so I bought a World War I open cockpit plane cap that includes a chin strap. Bystanders must've thought I was some former military pilot who longed for the old days. 🙂
  21. I think the main reason why Lexus doesn't offer any vehicles with exotic car power is their reputation for longevity. German manufacturers seem to be in a never-ending competition for highest horsepower but I doubt any can last as long as the typical Lexus vehicle.
