  1. There seem to be plenty of newer GS models (all types) (2010-2018). Throughout the US, there are 13 pages of them in Autotrader. (29 shown on the first page)
  2. Did you check autotrader.com? I believe they are rear wheel drive and many folks in the snow belt stick with front or all-wheel drive. I really like the 2013+ GS450h. It gets very good fuel mileage and is faster than the GS350. I'm sure they are out there, though. They are rated highly by Consumer Reports for reliability.
  3. Yes, allowing an engine intake to pull in any petroleum-based liquid is not good for the cat.
  4. Mike - funny story: When I was about 12 years old and playing baseball in the Sandy Koufax league, our coach Don would give some of us a ride home every so often. Before we got into his car for the first time he warned us to never touch the 2x4 behind his (driver's) seat. One day while he was driving, we started goofing around and laughing when the kid sitting behind Don accidentally kicked the stick. Don, a hefty-stature guy suddenly was looking at the car roof as his car drifted alarmingly from side to side. Thankfully there was no subsequent accident. We all thought it was funny but Don surely didn't and boy did we get a verbal blasting! 😄
  5. You're welcome, Chih (scchen). Your RX is one year newer than my RX so I would guess that your hood support struts will need to be replaced, soon if they haven't already. Best regards, Dave
  6. Did your mechanic change the catalytic converter or did someone else do this? I think you should make sure that the mechanic knows exactly what was done, recently. If there was no black smoke before the change, then some type of change most likely was done.
  7. Sorry about that. Maybe further searching with more relevant descriptions would help?
  8. The replies to this post may be helpful. Cup Holder Door Won't Open Fully - 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h - Lexus Owners Club of North America
  9. This info is from Herbie in the United Kingdom forum: Here is the link to the original posted battery drain issue: RX400h 12V battery drain overnight - RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club - Lexus Owners Club
  10. I recall my daughter telling me about a classmate who had a 4.2 GPA and was near the top of her class in an excellent high school in our area. This girl was accepted into and subsequently attended University of California, Berkely. Her first semester GPA was 2.4, simply because the "bar" was raised. The same holds true for automobiles and Consumer Reports. Their "bar" is raised periodically as it should be, in my opinion. I noticed that Scotty implied that the CR testers are not mechanics so advised a viewer to not go by CR's ratings. This is nonsense because CR analyzes survey data from tens of thousands of actual owners of the vehicles. When I bought my first new car, a 2001 Corvette, I did see that their reliability rating was very poor, so I knew what I was getting into. Really, we've benefitted so much over the years because of the many recommendations and warnings from CR. I would not think of not getting their magazine every month. It is worth every penny.
  11. I've been getting Consumer Reports magazine for over 35 years. I knew that if any car company could get the first hybrid SUV right, the first time it would be Lexus/Toyota. And right I was. Ours is now 16 years old and still doing great! Side fact: Consumer Reports magazine has recently listed the top three most reliable car companies as: 1. Mazda 2. Toyota 3. Lexus I guess that's why our other two vehicles are Mazdas!👍
  12. Our tires wore out a bit prematurely so when I brought it in, the service advisor gave us new tires at half off and an alignment. If there's a problem they can't fix they should communicate with Toyota/Lexus. I believe this is the Lexus customer service number: 1 (800) 255-3987 Have you called them yet?
  13. According to rockauto.com, KYB struts offer "original ride quality". They cost $72 or $79 each, depending on whether you have 2WD or all wheel drive. I had KYB shocks in an older Mazda and the ride was very good. It's hard to believe that a small shop would charge $1900 for labor. You may want to inquire at a different shop. 2009 LEXUS RX350 3.5L V6 Strut | RockAuto
  14. I buy my battery at Costco. And you are correct in that it is not normal for any vehicle to need to be driven every 2-3 days. I would've had the dealership keep the vehicle for a few days so they could see for themselves that the vehicle will not start. They should provide you with a free loaner vehicle.
  15. If the owner is retired, it'd be best if he or she took the vehicle out for a 15 mile+ spin at least every week. That's what we do. Vehicles with lots of electronics do not take well to sitting for long periods of time.
  16. Check to see if there are any maintenance records for oil and engine oil, filter, and cabin air filter replacements.
  17. Take a look at this reply by Lenore: Manually Closing A Sunroof - 99 - 03 Lexus RX300 - Lexus Owners Club of North America Have you tried it?
  18. That's a great idea! If they are made of polyethylene or polypropylene, you can pour some acetone or cleaning alcohol in one if doing touchup cleaning. I use small cups to clean out glass eye droppers that I use to add dyes to my castings. These type of plastics are very chemical resistant so they can be helpful in may ways.
  19. My gut feeling is that not many Lexus owners will do this, themselves but if this post gets enough "hits" I'll pin it so that it can be easily found. Thanks, Chris for the link and writeup. Dave
  20. I think that buying a different type of battery is not really fixing the problem. I buy the Costco battery every 5 years or so and have not had any excessive drain issues. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, take a look at this web page by Popular Mechanics: Dead Car Battery- How to Test a Car Battery (popularmechanics.com) If you are not, you should consider taking your vehicle to an Auto Electric shop, as I mentioned above. Good luck!
  21. My wife has a Samsung S10 and it works perfectly with our Lexus.
  22. Mike have you thought about having the dealership investigate this?
  23. I believe you have to run each window down and up using the control at each window, not from the driver's seat. The moon roof may require the same. It's been a while since I changed the battery but you do need to relearn the windows.
  24. Did you take it in to the dealership to have them check it out? Your vehicle should be able to sit for 2 weeks. I'm hoping they didn't tell you otherwise. There could be a light that is not turning off if it is not LED.
  25. It may be obvious if you've had this vehicle for awhile but the fob's remote button will not work unless you first unlock the doors with the door button. There are also certain conditions in order for the interior button to open the hatch, also.
