  1. The bypass hose in a 2003 Lexus ES 300 is part of the vehicle’s cooling system. It plays a crucial role in the circulation of coolant. If your Lexus ES 300 has been either leaking coolant or overheating, you could have a faulty cooling system bypass line1. The bypass hose ensures that the coolant bypasses the radiator and flows directly into the engine, which allows the engine to reach its operating temperature more quickly. This is particularly useful in cold weather, as it helps the vehicle’s heater to warm up more quickly. If the bypass hose is damaged or malfunctioning, it could lead to issues with engine temperature regulation. It’s always recommended to replace a faulty coolant hose with a genuine Lexus part. So if your engine is leaking coolant at a rapid pace, you may not want to drive it to the dealership.
  2. I would call Lexus customer service to verify. I always thought that it was 10 years from original owner's date of purchase.
  3. Our Lexus is 18+ years old and up until two years ago, was used every day. The leather seats are still fine. When I bought a used Mazda Miata, 13 years ago, there was a tear in the driver's fabric seat. The owner told me that it was his fault, since he had something in his back pocket that cause the damage. Perhaps your dealership suspected that a person was the cause of the tear and not simply because the seat was worn thin enough to tear.
  4. I've been adding Chevron Techron at every oil change. It should help to keep the valves clean. So far, no problems.
  5. It doesn't look normal, based upon photos such as this one.
  6. Hello, Allen. So what was the service person's suggestion as to how this omission will be resolved? Perhaps it need to go "up the ladder".
  7. I think you really need to go to an alignment shop that also is very familiar with and can replace suspension components. Our RX400h has a worn-out control arm bushing that may be affecting its alignment.
  8. So there is no coolant in the oil? Does the car smoke all the time?
  9. Are you saying that it TILTS to the right or STEERS to the right?
  10. Neutral doesn't work? I'm not sure why you would want to disable VSC.
  11. Did I mention this?..... I don't like the fact that our governments plan to force us to buy EVs. I wouldn't mind having one, as we already have solar panels and don't pay for electricity, but I think we should be able to choose what we drive (within reason).
  12. Which ones? I like radar cruise and backup alerts to cross traffic.
  13. Being in Southern California, I have to try hard to limit my sun exposure. That's why I bought a Schwinn stationary bike. On alternate days, my wife and I walk. Vitamin C is said to protect skin from UV rays, so I take a 500mg tablet, twice a day. Having an MX5 Miata does expose me to sun, also but my rides are no more than 20 minutes.
  14. I have to ask how you would have tires installed if your car is still in the shop. Did the mechanic already replace the caliper set and the sensor? If not, you will need to wait until he is finished before getting new tires.
  15. Many aluminum wheels are clear-coated after painting or polishing. It is possible to clean them with alcohol and apply a new coat of spray paint, but you may not like the result. Why not ask an auto body shop person what they would charge?
  16. Hello, Jim. Have you considered taking it to a local shop that has good ratings? I would explain the issues you have over the phone before taking your car there. They may not want to mess with it. If so, try somewhere else. I wish you the best of luck.
  17. Hello, Rick. Over the last 20 years or so, purging air from coolant has (for some models) become more involved. Have you reviewed a Service Manual to see what steps are necessary?
  18. I'd have to believe that the programming was not done correctly. Perhaps you can check with a different dealership.
  19. Are there any dash warning lights? You may be able to have an auto parts store check the OBD II port for codes.
  20. You may want to also check other seals for doors and hood. Also, it may be a good idea to check rubber hoses for adequate pliability.
  21. Did you check the transmission fluid level? Was the fluid ever changed?
