  1. Congrats on discovering the culprit! 👍
  2. Have you also considered any of these possibilities?
  3. When our battery is getting weak, an illuminated notice appears on the dash, indicating that we must shift into park before shutting off the vehicle (or something to that effect). When I see that, I replace the battery. I've never had to jump it, but I believe the procedure for doing so is in the manual.
  4. Have you searched autotrader.com? You can set it up so that your search is within a selected radius of your location. Here's an example, based upon unlimited miles from my location. Lexus RX 500h for Sale Near Me in San Diego, CA - Autotrader
  5. Hello, Carl. Have you spoken with a Lexus service advisor or customer service representative? 1 (800) 255-3987
  6. You must be in a very rural area to be that far away from a Lexus dealership. There are at least 4 within a 30-mile radius of where I live in CA. But I can certainly understand your concern. One of the advantages of taking your vehicle to a Lexus dealership is the free rental vehicle loaner after the warranty expires. We've taken our Lexus to the local Toyota dealership after the warranty expired, mostly because the service is less expensive. There should not be parasitic draining of the 12V battery, not having to not use the AC, nor having to replace the battery often. My experience with runflat tires from years ago is that they were a bit harsh compared to non-runflat tires. I have two vehicles with no spares (Our RX does have a spare tire.), but each has a tire fix kit and mini-compressor. Over the past 12 years, I've never had to use either. I would talk to a service advisor at more than one Lexus dealership about his or her experience with the issues you mentioned. I find it hard to believe that this is very common.
  7. 1. That depends upon the rotor thickness and whether material needs to be taken off. 2. That would depend upon your part of the country. $450 seems very reasonable if quality parts are used. 3. Take a look here for suggestions. Brakes for 2005 Lexus LS430 (tirerack.com) 4. See above. 5. Yes, that's what I do unless I have the work done by the dealership. Unfortunately, if you select the hardware and they squeal, it's typically on you to rectify. 6. The front brakes always wear out long before the rears do. I'd be surprised if you need all four done.
  8. According to Consumer Reports, the best version of the NX is the hybrid with an overall score of 83 vs. the non-hybrid score of 72. They describe the hybrid as "more refined". They do describe the electronic interior door releases, the unintuitive gear selector, and low center dash vents as "small faults". Fuel mileage of the hybrid is superior at 34 MPG, a 42% increase. Our RX400h cost us $50K (before tax), 19 years ago, so your $50k cost doesn't seem so bad. We get 25 MPG.
  9. Interior Fuse Box Location: 2008 Lexus RX350 3.5L V6 (carcarekiosk.com) This one is in the same generation RX. It doesn't look that hard to access.
  10. Have you checked the water level in your battery? (if it's accessible) If that's okay, how old is the battery? A week battery can cause the ECU to throw weird codes.
