  1. So far now I have had the the rear sway bar links replaced which did not help so they put the original one back on no charge. Took to the Lexus and they had to hook up microphones under my RX and determined it was the shocks. My KYB shocks which were replaced at just over 42000 miles were still under warranty. I paid Lexus $179 diagnostic fee and took the RX back to the shop that replaced them the first time free of charge. My wife says she does not near the noise anymore. I just wonder why shocks that should last 50,000 are bad first time 42,000 and now 11,000.
  2. Doesn’t the car need to be running to make any sounds from numbers 1, 3,and 4 that you listed? I can stand on the bumper, bounce and hear the sound. I can even push th on the bumper with my weight and rear it. if not the rear sway bar and end or the shocks which have been checked. What else could cause a popping sound?
  3. I have had the timing chain cover replaced and had it back to rhe dealer because they didn’t tighten everything. I will probably take it back again. Have to pull out the paper work. The sound travels back to the rear? thanks for the ideas.
  4. I’m trying again to find out the problem I am still having. Previously posted in 2023. My 2014 RX350 with less than 59000 miles. I have a popping sound driving on normal residential streets at under 30 mph. It is different than the road seam tire noise. Don’t hear at speeds over 45. It is hard to tell if rear right or left side. I can reproduce the sound if I stand on the bumper and push up and down. Not as loud as when I am driving but can still hear it. Do not hear when going over big bumps. I do not hear going in reverse as someone asked. I have had it to a very reputable shop that has been in business for 45 years with a 4.7 star rating 2.7K reviews. I have taken other cars there. They are very honest. They replaced the sway bar and ends. Checked the shocks and tightened what ever they could. Nothing they did helped. In the end they put my old parts back on and didn’t charge me anything. I have also rotated the tires. My friend who is very good with cars crawled underneath with his Stethoscope as I bounced the vehicle and couldn’t tell where the sound is coming from. Anyone else had the same issue or ideas on what it might be. I am getting close to taking it to a dealership.

  6. The shop tried tightening different things to the extent of removing and replacing my license plate frame. Checked my rear shocks as well.
  7. The kit is the end links. Didn’t fix my problem. The noise is worst when driving slow in residential streets. The road expansion joints and other small bumps. Almost constant popping. it is not the tire noise which I know that sound.
  8. When driving from startup to parking especially on residential roads. when on the highway don’t notice as much. I have looked under the vehicle and amazed at how much is covered. just went for a drive and p hear it more when going slow thru our neighborhood.
  9. They installed new sway bar kits, removed the shock and checked it out. Even removed the license plate cover then put it back on. Still the popping clunking sound. since nothing they did stopped the noise they put the old sway bar parts and didn’t charge me anything. Any ideas of what the noise could be? I can stand on the bumper move my body up and down and hear the noise.
  10. My 2014 RX350 with 58000 miles is in the shop having the rear sway bar kits replaced because I had a clunking sound in the right rear. Anyone else heard of needing rear end sway bars kits replaced?
  11. I never thought about a Toyota dealer, thanks. I had a list of gaskets a page long such as valve cover gaskets, etc. They replaced the water pump since the work exposed the water pump. Did an alinement as well. A friend of mine after driving thinks it is the ABS. It pops when applying the brakes and then again after releasing and taking off. Could be as simple as not bleeding the brakes enough.
  12. My 2014 RX350 with 48850 miles just had to have the timing chain cover replaced. It was leaking oil. Had the Lexus dealer do the repairs because the local garage didn’t want to take on the task. Dealer had it for 3 days at the cost $5600. It is quite the project from what I have looked up. I got it back and I now started to hear a popping sound that seems to be on the front drivers side. I hear it when I first start up and when turning left at slow speeds. Some times when going over small bumps. What do you think it could be? Could it have started due to the work I had done? Should I take it back to the dealer or my local garage.
