  1. For Lexus, the engine identification number location varies by model. For example, for models like ES 250, ES 300, and GS 300 (96-03), the code is on the front left side of the engine block. For models like ES 330 and GS 300 (04-06), the code is on the engine block. You may be able to find our where yours is by speaking with the dealership parts department person. As far as I know, the VIN is not stamped or tagged on the engine.
  2. Hi, Denise. Most likely those are from pebble damage, which is common to pretty much every vehicle. Our RX has more than a few. It happens more often when the vehicle is driven on the highway for many miles. The likely scenario is that someone did not adequately remove any residual wax/dirt before applying the touchup paint. You can have a detailing shop fill the chip voids in a more professional manner. Or you can leave them, as-is if they don't bother you too much.
  3. Do an internet search for "OEM Lexus parts". Thos sites allow you to enter your VIN number and then search by part description.
  4. Or perhaps a clogged nozzle.
  5. Do you mean outside of a dealership?
  6. There was a recall notice sent to original owners approximately 10-14 years ago. I believe this notice stated that the cutoff for free replacement was at the 10-year mark. The original owner of your RX may have missed or ignored the notice. That would mean that the offer of free replacement expired after 2019 or so. Ours was replaced, back then and has never had any softening or cracking issues, since.
  7. Have you taken a good look at the headlight cable connector? Is it getting 12V?
  8. There are code readers that state in their literature that they work with all Toyota/Lexus vehicles made after 1997. Here's one that looks like it does it all: Amazon.com: OBD2 Scanner, All System Diagnostic Scan Tool for Toyota Lexus Scion Car Scanner Transmission ABS EPB Code Reader with Reset TPMS Bi-Directional, etc 31+ Functions, for Corolla Tacoma 4Runner Camry : Automotive The good ones tend to cost much more than the $20 ones that may or may not work. Now you may be able to rent one from your local auto parts store.
  9. Hello, Ed. I believe the written instructions are contained within, but review all posts.
  10. Have you considered taking your vehicle to an Auto-Electric shop for a second opinion? $1495 for a switch replacement looks to be far too much.
  11. Have you tried an auto scrapyard? Some will ship parts.
  12. Have you looked at crutchfield.com? They have loads of information about many different vehicles' audio systems and components.
  13. Low transmission fluid level or a faulty transmission valve body can be culprits. Also consider having your battery load-tested. Low battery voltage can result in strange issues.
  14. You may have accidentally touched the child switch on the driver's door.
  15. Hello, Jim. There are some on this forum that have over 200,000 and even 250,000 miles on them. Ours has approximately 135,000 miles on it and has been bulletproof. Always make sure that the recommended maintenance has been done. You can find the requirements on the internet if not in this forum. Also try to verify that the rear floor in front of the back seats has not been used for long-term storage of anything that could block the air intake vents at the bottom of the seats. Doing so can reduce the life of the hybrid batteries. Good luck!
  16. They should, as the diameter, width, and offset of various wheel selections for the two vehicles are very similar. If you could try one in front and one in rear, just to verify that there are no interference issues, that would be ideal.
  17. You can have a mobile auto locksmith do it. However, they are NOT inexpensive. I paid $500 to get a key and fob for my MX5.
  18. An auto-cycle trickle charger is designed for use when a vehicle will not be started for extended lengths of time. If you are keeping your RX in your garage, the solar panel that is part of the Sunway charger may not be effective unless you place it outside. If you can plug in a battery tender in your garage where you keep the RX, this is a very popular choice of tender: Deltran Battery Tender Plus 12V 1.25A Automatic Battery Charger # 021-0128 G3 799793028536 | eBay
  19. Hello, John. I'm not sure what the piece with the holes in it is, but likely your mechanic is correct.
  20. Greetings, Mitch. Did you hear the sounds right after the component installations? Did you try using a mechanic's stethoscope underneath your GX with someone pushing down on the bumper or fender? Did you do the installations, yourself?
  21. Could a drain be backed up from previous rain?
  22. Yes, it'd be great to have a Miata in your stable, also.😉
  23. John, you must be in Europe? I was touring France and Italy in August and saw many tiny cars. It was amazing that the tour bus driver could maneuver around the narrow streets.
  24. Would you be able to take your vehicle to a different dealership? Our dash was replaced (no charge) after 9 or 10 years. Perhaps what you see is not common to many RX350s. Don't give up. Can you attach a photo of it?
  25. Okay, this website includes some auto stereo troubleshooting tips. Common Reasons For Car Speaker Not Working On One Side: Tips On Fixing It (audiocurious.com)
