  1. I mean...change has to happen guys. The competition is always changing and the site needs to be freshened. The software needs to be updated. The lagging will settle down once Steve is done doing all the internal database changes. You'll get used to it, trust me.
  2. Can you post some pictures? I'd like to see the wider tires on the car...
  3. You're not going to run out of oil. The engine holds 6 quarts of oil...if it were leaking to an extent that you could run out of oil...lets just say you would know. Thats 1.5 gallons of oil. Thats a LOT of drips. Are you sure its oil?
  4. Welcome to the club... Is the sensor working? Turn the car on, put the wipers on the auto setting, set the sensitivity to the most sensitive and pour some water over the sensor and see what happens. If nothing happens something is wrong with the sensor. I think you can just disconnect the sensor and they become normal intermittant wipers... The third brake light is very easy to replace, I just did it. Just slide the housing towards the passenger side and it will lift right off. Then unplug the wire and the whole housing will come loose. You twist the socket out, swap out the bulb and thats it. Your year ES doesn't have any LEDs, they are all incandescent bulbs...
  5. Its because a lot of older people buy the ES. Older people like...garish things. Think about canvas tops, gold emblems, whitewalls. Remember those big gold grills you could buy for Cadillacs in the 90s?
  6. I looked at the thread... I never said what happened to you never happened...I said it was a design quirk of the system.
  7. Oh...it should definately be covered.
  8. How long have you been using this wash? I mean...there is just no way an automatic carwash can be 100% safe...unless the car is pre-sprayed and the cloths are cleaned after every car goes through it. Its just not possible...because the dirt from each car is deposited on those cloths and they get dirtier and dirtier and more and more abrasive. I would bet almost anything that you will eventually find scratching. Get a bright light, like pull another car perpendicular to your car and turn on the headlights. I bet the sides, especially the lower cladding about wheel height is scratched all to hell. Thats where the damage is done by an automatic wash, the hood and roof and trunk, higher up on the car where you normally look isn't so much an issue...its down the sides where the cars are really dirty. I've seen cars washed at very expensive boutique washes with state of the art equipment and guys who use all microfiber towels...tunnel washes people pay upwards of $50 per wash to go through. The result? Horrible swirls on the sides. I just don't buy it. Too much experience in the field...
  9. I would imagine so, but get the synopsis of what areas are updated first...the discs are expensive...
  10. I don't think this is so much a problem with the car...as it is the HOLD feature having a design quirk that causes a situation like that under a set of circumstances. Personally? I wouldn't use the HOLD feature myself. You're on a forum of volunteer owners. If you don't like the statements they may or may not make to you...I would suggest you just ignore them...if you want to continue to recieve the community's advice. Just a suggestion.
  11. Just an oil change, but not the 5,000 mile service...
  12. Duh...I don't know what I was thinking... Not my day! You of course are correct...the coverage is 4 years 50k miles.
  13. Sorry for the vulgarity...but that #$@%&*!. I can only imagine how you must feel...you must be beside yourself. I know I would be and I haven't put one ounce as much effort into my car as you have. Thats just...awful. I'm really angry for you... The vinyl peices can be repaired you know that as well as I do, but that plastic center stack peice and the nav screen will have to be replaced, so will the vent surround and the face of the shifter plate. Thats going to be...very very expensive. IMHO thats $5,000 worth of repair there. You are going to have a very hard time dealing with the dealer and getting this done right... I reccomend you sit down with the service manager at the dealer and explain to him how much pride you take in your vehicle, and how hard you have worked to be able to afford such a vehicle. The one time the dealer damaged my car I had a very frank discussion (you know how I am) with the dealer's service manager out in the service waiting room within earshot of all the customers that included the line "I know to you guys this is just some ES and you really don't care about it, but it is something I have worked very hard for and it is very special to me...and when I pay the premium that I pay for Lexus service...I don't think its unreasonable to expect that you guys will treat it with some respect and at least return it to me in the same condition I provided it to you. Do you think thats unreasonable?" and of course he had no choice but to agree that it was perfectly reasonable...and give me whatever I wanted. If that doesn't work I think you should write a letter to the dealer's GM, CC Lexus Corporate, and CC your local Better Business Bureau. Explain in the letter that you take great pride in the appearance of your Lexus and are deeply, deeply upset that the Lexus dealer would violate it and you by returning it to you in that condition. Include these pictures, and include some of the pictures you had taken of the vehicle previously. I know you...like me you will never be satisfied with the car again unless you get these things repaired...stay firm, but calm and professional. Never let up...and never let on that you will be satisfied with anything less than the car being in the SAME condition it was in when you dropped it off.
  14. Problem with tires like that is they are going to get louder and louder as they age. 10,000 miles from now you'll be overwhelmed by the noise I bet...
  15. They are supposed to replace that gasket every time they change the oil as per Lexus specs... When the dealer charges $150 for an oil change...I absolutely would let them know how displeased I am when they cut corners with THAT kind of profit margin.
  16. Oh most definately. The rare times I have had issues like that are when I am traveling is much more rural areas. Around metro DC, and all up and down the mid-atlantic coastline I have never had any problems. Thats why I have a Garmin, for when I'm not in one of our cars that have the Denso systems, loaner cars...when traveling. And it is very useful...but I don't prefer it to the Denso system... When I'm driving my cars...it stays in the house.
  17. Thankya! It slides to the passenger side. Real easy once you do that...
  18. At 46,500 miles the warranty is expired...but just barely... Have you always had maintenance done at the dealer? I bet you can get them to cover it.
  19. Within a few days you'll find puttering around the new site just as easy as the old site...
  20. Plenty of aftermarket systems are much cheaper than optional sound systems in cars and are better. For instance to get the ML system in the ES you have to buy the UL package which is $4,000. You can put an INCREDIBLE sound system in the car aftermarket for far less. But people buy the OEM system... I have personally never had that problem with the Denso systems... I don't have to quantify my opinion to you. Its just that...my opinion as your opinion is yours. I simply don't care what functions the Garmin has that the OEM system does not have...because the OEM system completely fills my needs and I don't like the interface of the Garmin system at all. To me...any additional features are outweighed by how ugly it is. Mine has enough features...and isn't ugly.
  21. Hey guys... My high mount stop lamp is out, got the bulb...just can't seem to figure out how to get to it. Doesn't seem like its possible through the trunk...and the cover on top doesn't seem to want to come off...
  22. I mean...whats 20,000 miles? What does it save you, money now? But its the same money you'll spend in 20,000 miles...only then you're taking a chance. 90,000 miles or 6 years...
  23. MUCH more attractive than the HS...
  24. This has been debated on this forum...and every other forum ad nauseum...and I don't want to get into it on here again it always turns into a flamewar so I am going to close this. One final thought. Yes your car may run okay on 87. Probably even. However...it is nearly a $50,000 automobile and how much more does premium really cost, $.20 a gallon? Lets say you fill up 18 gallons a week...thats $3.60 a week...$14.40 a month. Is it worth spending an extra $14.40 per month to know that you are putting what the manufacturer really reccomends in your $50,000 automobile? Thats a question you will have to answer for yourself.
  25. Battery maintenance on a maintenance free battery? I'm not sure what kind of battery maintenance they would do. The battery is a year old...its fine. As for the brakes, its not impossible that they would need to be replaced at that mileage...did they tell you how much pad life was left? You don't just change brake pads at certain intervals...it depends on how fast they wear... Kinda sounds to me like this dealer might be setting you up to do things that aren't neccesary.
