  1. Thank you for clearing that up... So the IS is luxurious simply because it carries a luxury nameplate and the Prius is not because its a Toyota?
  2. I've been moderating internet car forums for 13 years and I wrote the posting guidelines of this site, so I think I know what construes a personal attack here at the LOC. If you think someone telling you that you are irritating them, or even calling you irritating directly (which he didn't do) is a personal attack I don't know how you cope with adult life. There's a difference between saying someone is being irritating and calling someone a rude name. You know that. I think you are being irritating. Thats not an attack...I'm sure plenty of people here think I am irritating and I don't care...they can tell me that whenever they want. I'm not calling you a name or insulting you. Everyone has to treat everyone else with respect but we don't all have to like one another. I was showing you how what you were saying was coming across to those you were saying it to. The purpose was not to specifically quote your post but to show you the tone that it carried.
  3. This is an old thread but I just found it and wanted to comment. In regards to the bracket, I can't see how someone would expect it to be covered. More than likely it was caused by something hitting the bumper, the bumpers can take a good bit of abuse before they actually show any damage, its possible someone backed into you or something in a parking lot, flexed the bumper and broke the bracket without damaging the bumper. Think about it...how else would it break? Gotta side with the dealer on this one...thats what insurance is for.
  4. Those are the OEM black pearl badges. They look better on light colored cars IMHO
  5. I agree with this 100%...but all dealers are different... I personally would be relieved they DIDN'T wash it...but thats me.
  6. Yeah this is pretty preposterous IMHO. The fact that you have never had a mouse in 40 plus years and do now is indicitive of the fact that...now you've got some mice living around your driveway and you didn't over the previous 40 years. Vehicles are VERY susceptible to damage by rodents. Lots of ducts and unsealed places they can crawl into and plenty of ways they can get into the vehicle. Any vehicle...not just the Lexus. Plus...rodents chew. They can create ways inside the vehicle where there were none before. I agree with Lexus...rid the driveway area of rodents. As for replacing damaged air filters at your expense...why would they pay to replace air filters you allowed to be consumed by rodents? Did the Lexus dealer put the rodents in your car? Infestation by rodents is not a warranty item Some people are incredible.
  7. If you mean the VSC kicked in, flashed the traction light and beeped to indicate it intervened and righted a skid by strategically braking a specific wheel or wheels then I would buy that. But if you're saying the vehicle just applied the brakes and slowed you down because it thought you were turning too fast...that was your imagination too.
  8. So because something wears a luxury nameplate its okay to spend $30,000 on a compact car? And what makes the Lexus IS luxurious when a fully loaded Prius V with ATP is not? Lot of features...I'd consider it pretty luxurious.
  9. Cool, thankya!
  10. I assume you removed your post above and sent it to me...thats not neccisary. Everything can be out in the open here, I'll post your PM and respond to it here... I agreed with nc211 that you were becoming irritating. Saying that someone is starting to become irritating is hardly an attack, it is a very respectful and permissive comment about the way someone's behavior is effecting you. He didn't call you a name...he said you were irritating him. "You are irritating me" is not a personal attack. We're all adults here...if you can't handle that then this forum stuff isn't for you. The issue is not your opinion, its your insistance that you beat those that disagree with you over the head with it while denigrating them as having no taste and being wrong because they don't agree with your viewpoint. Something being "ugly" is not a fact...it is an opinion. Your statement that "everyone" thinks the 5 series is ugly is a gross generalization...one that isn't true but thats beside the point. "I don't personally care for the 5 series, I think its ugly" is a respectfully stated opinion. "The 5 series is ugly and everyone knows it, the only people who drive them do so because they are cheap" is a denigrating and insulting statement and is not appropriate. This is a friendly, community based forum here and tone is very important. Think about that before you word your opinions is all I'm saying. And if you want to have a debate about facts with me...come armed.
  11. Thats just not happening up here...the cars definately sell... I've decided I am definately going to pick up an LS in the middle of all of this...I just have to wait for the right one and the right price. Do me a favor down there smooth, keep an eye out for a 2005 or 2006 (preferably an '06) LS430 with nav in white, the cypress green, or that medium bronze color... I can always fly down there and stay with you for a week or so when I pick it up ;)
  12. Actually it isn't a compact car, its a midsized car with interior volume that is pretty close to that of a Camry. Its a pretty versitile vehicle with the hatch and the fold down seats, and the 2010 model is a lot more comfortable and fun to drive than our 04 (which I personally don't care for) People spend more than $30k on compact cars all the time...the BMW3...the Cadillac CTS....the Audi A4...the Lexus IS...all much smaller inside than the Prius.
  13. I have to agree. G Man, your opinions are fine and you are entitled to them, but you have to be respectful of the opinions of others. Denigrating people's viewpoints such as saying things like "Some people like that ugly 5 series, most of them are bargain basement leasers" when others obviously have a differing viewpoint isn't fair.
  14. Unfortunately...car dealers are all independently owned...same is true of Lexus...same is true of BMW...Mercedes...on and on. The quality of the dealer has a large part to do with how the dealership is run. So if you want to buy a make of vehicle that ensures you what you define as great dealer service...its not going to happen. I actually don't see the issue here at all. You paid $13 for the service of having the dealership drive to your house, pick up your car, and leave a car for your use. Thats a deal IMHO. Whether you needed the car or not it makes absolutely no sense for them to commit two employees to picking up your vehicle. The service advisor is simply an employee of the dealer...she is simply following the policies of the dealer. They charge for gas on their loaners...my dealer does too. If I don't want to pay for their gas...I drop my own car off and don't get a loaner.
  15. I can point you to some up in Gaithersburg...
  16. Call Lexus of Rockville...
  17. Nice! Glad it worked out with the key, as long as its the black head thats the master key...
  18. I'm sure it would be, and I'm not saying that there isn't an issue here...what I'm wondering is what is truly the extent of the issue. Nobody has ever looked at anybody else's memos. Again though...you are escalating the issue. People on the Prius chat forums have gone as far as using accelerometers to mesure the "braking effect" (they're a "special" bunch over there), its a feel issue not an interruption in actual braking. That feel issue is a product of the electronig braking system found in their hybrid vehicles...and has been addressed with no loss of life. As for letting up on the gas...again I'm not saying there isn't an issue...but were talking about a very rare set of circumstances and a very small percentage of cars that have displayed this issue. They've got a brake override retrofit on the ground...gas pedals and floormats have been recalled.
  19. Obviously the balance of buyers disagree...the nav cars sell much faster than the non nav cars too. I personally really like the Lexus system, lockout or not. In fact our Prius has the override since we've never upgraded the maps and I've never bothered to use it. I wouldn't even consider a car without nav.
  20. I see LOTS of them on the road around here. Apparently people here like them. Something being "ugly" is not a fact. People have different tastes and opinions, I quite like the 5 series.
  21. They're not going to work... Does the key you have have a black head or a grey head? If its the grey head its the valet key and its going to be hard to program new master keys... I'd keep the 2000 and give her one of the 97s ;)
  22. Oh yeah it definately sits lower, part of making the whole line "sportier". I also like the fact that you sit up high in the LS430...
  23. I like the fact that when you see it you know its an LS mainly...The 460 is a beautiful car but you can easily mistake it from a distance for any number of cars...an ES350...even a Camry from a distance and at certain angles. Its part of the new L-Finesse "cohesion"...but when you see an 04-06 (I think the 01-03 is pretty ungainly looking) you instantly know its an LS...I like the chrome trim around the beltline. Qualitywise there are some material quality differences between the two... I do really like the interior of the 460 though.
  24. Its not the ideal time because of everything going on with Toyota. I'd keep it. You know its funny, like I said I'm shopping for the "right" 05 or 06 LS430. I was looking at how cheap the LS460s have gotten and I was thinking "Hey, I should spend a little more and just get a 460" but then I kind of realized...I actually prefer the 430!
  25. Yeah and if you aren't careful you can get to a point where the vehicle really looks like a characature of itself, things like wheels with red lips...etc...I think are best suited to Honda Civics...
