  1. Are those Teleios chromed wheels on the LS460. Looks great. Nice comparisons - it's still the LS460 for me! Really? If someone gave you a choice between a free LS460 and a free Bentley...you'd take the LS460? I hardly think so.
  2. Buddy...I have fought against that my entire adult life. Even now that I'm almost 30 I try hard not to have to admit to people how old I am...you can see that instant change in their face when they find out how young I am (they are always shocked because I seem so much older) and they never seem to look at me the same way again. A lot of it is jealousy. You have what they have...or more and you have your youth. They figure that you must somehow have been handed what you have or that somehow your accomplishments aren't completely your own because you're younger. It sucks...get used to it. You've just got to stay firm. Like RX400h said you don't need to file a lawsuit. You simply need to appear before a judge, and I think with your pictures and with a breakdown of the procedure involved in replacing the evaporator coil that shows they specifically remove those specific components that are damaged...I don't see how a judge could not award you the money to purchase the parts to replace...and you can replace them yourself...and the money to have the vinyl components repaired. I showed my wife, who doesn't care at all about cars or the condition of her car, your pictures and she immediately noticed the damage and her exact words were "Thats just unacceptable". I don't see how a judge would look at it any differently. It will be fun. Seriously, I should have been a lawyer because I would ride those SOBs like a donkey until they begged for death ;)
  3. You know what I would try? Go to the hardware store and buy some of that wire that is coated in plastic. It comes in a roll and it will be in the outdoor department. Cut out a peice that will fit in that opening, put some electrical tape around the edges and lodge it into that opening. That won't rust, won't look obtrusive, and should do the trick. Honestly though...the Prius was over-run with mice...now there are mice in the Lexus. The common denominator is where you park your car. I have a Prius that sits outside 24-7 and has for 6 years...no mice. It was parked for almost 2 years in a carport in the woods in front of a shed with mice in it...no mice. I really think you should have a professional animal control company come out and treat that area for mice.
  4. For what its worth the underside looks pretty spotless for much longer than 3 months... Could be a lot of things, they could have spilled oil all over the shield in front and its just dribbling out...
  5. Yeah...I would say don't let the door hit you on the way out. Plenty of reasons why your post may not have been responded to. 1. It may have been a topic that has been discussed a thousand times and people have just said all they wish to say on the topic. Thats why theres a search feature on the site. 2. It may be a topic that nobody has any direct experience with. 3. And this is the most likely IMHO, people had a hard time understanding what it was you were asking. Seriously and this is not meant to be mean, but people are busy and this is leisure time for them. If they have trouble understanding your post...they just ignore it and move on. Thats what I do. This is a site of enthusiasts and it is actually pretty active...throwing a temper tantrum isn't going to provide you with the result that you're looking for. EDIT- I read your threads and...every single one of the topics in your threads has been discussed here before...just do a search. On top of that they are very poorly written and difficult to follow. At one point you're trying to sell your car...or are you not?
  6. Thats just going to create more problems...best to just keep working to make them fix the damage... And yes, they are definately trying to wait you out. Here's what you do, sit there in the waiting room...as long as it takes. Strike up conversations with the other customers. "What kind of Lexus do you have?" "Oh an LS? Those are great, what's it in for?" "Oil change? Awesome. Mines here because they completely ruined the interior when they did a warranty repair and I can't seem to get the dealer to stand behind their work. The manager has had me waiting for 3 hours and this is the third day I've tried to talk to them" "I know! Its terrible...I hope they treat your LS with more respect than they treated my RX".' Stroll into the showroom...do the same thing with the people looking at new cars. Be nice about it, don't be loud. "These are great cars aren't they? Mines here because the dealer ruined the interior when they did warranty work and I've been waiting for three hours for the manager to be available to talk to me, I can't seem to get them to want to stand behind their work". "I know! Its terrible...my parents never had that problem with their Mercedes" See how quick that manager shows up. I'm 100% serious too...thats what I would do.
  7. LMAO!
  8. In my experience rent-to-own simply doesn't work. Here's how a traditional rent-to-own scenario works. You and the owner decide on a sales price right now. There is a unilateral option where you can exercise it and purchase the house. If you elect to purchase it for the option price, the sales price you agreed upon when you signed the lease, the owner must sell it to you. Traditionally there is rent that is paid monthly...then an amount of option money. So if your rent was $1,500 per month (forgive the amounts, everything is more expensive here) then there would be say $500 in option money that is held in an escrow account bringing your total payment to $2,000 per month. At the end of say, 12 months you have built up $6,000 in "option money". If you elect to exercise your option and purchase the house...then the $6k goes towards the house...or closing costs...or whatever. Here's the kicker...if you don't exercise the option...the money belongs to the owner. The reason there is rent and then option money is the seller is paying the debt service and taxes on the house while you're renting...so there needs to be something coming to the owner to cover those costs otherwise he is loosing money. So whats the issue? Well how do you know whether the option price is going to be a fair value for the house 12 months from now? What if it has depreciated? If it has and you elect not to exercize the option...you forefit the money. What if its too low and the house has appreciated over those 12 months? Well then the owner has made a bad deal...thats why the option prices are usually way higher than market value. What if you choose the option and the house doesn't appraise? You could loose the option money if an appraisal clause wasn't in the original agreement. Just wrought with consequences. You're much better off to rent...and continue to save. I refuse to let any of my clients do a rent-to-own scenario...buyers or sellers. Even if the whole rent truly does go towards the house if you buy it in full...you still are choosing to live there instead of free military housing...and if you dont buy the house you loose the $10,800 for the rent you paid over that year.

  11. Find an insurance adjuster and ask them...or just go onto other car forums and search for "mice". You'll see issues with every make and model of car. Or just Google "mice in cars" Why is it that you just now have mice problems with your vehicles, maybe the only time you came across a location where there were a lot of mice happened to be when you had your RX? Maybe there was a neighborhood cat that kept mice away...until it died or moved away? I've owned Lexus vehicles for 12 years...parked in carports, outside, and in a garage. In areas where we had mice outside...and never one time did I ever have a mouse in any of them. I did have a mouse one time at a location where the Lexus and Prius were subsequently parked...and we had mice...and a mouse ate through the gas tank on a VW. Never a mouse inside the Lexus or the Prius though. Its one of those fluke things. You talk about a location where you think they are getting in...but are they really getting in there? If that were blocked would they get in anywhere else? Remember...a mouse ate through a gas tank one time on a car I had...if they want in...they're going to get in. Why not just put mesh there yourself? Seems like less work than "spraying" for them every night. Maybe you need to have a pest control company treat the area where you park your RX for mice?
  12. Follow the link he posted...
  13. I sell houses, I don't build them but again read what I said. Mice make their own openings. Thats not an issue limited to Lexus. Rodent damage is very common in all cars...ask an insurance adjuster.
  14. I'm in the housing business and I can tell you with authority...nothing is rodent proof. A house cannot be made rodent proof because rodents claw and chew their way into places they want to get to. If there is no hole...they will make a hole. Same is true of a car, there might be a space thats half an inch big, a rodent gets at it knawing on it and its big enough for them to enter. This can be under the car, under the hood...in places you don't see. Nothing a carmaker can do about that. Maybe the rodent came in when a door or window was left open in the garage...maybe for 5 minutes. They're fast.
  15. What you have are very common, its caused by improper washing and/or improper buffing. The good news is it absolutely can be corrected. What you have to decide is are you willing to invest some time and money into trying to fix them yourself or do you want to pay a professional detailer to do it?
  16. When mice get into your house, do you complain to your home builder? Mice are very destructive, and they can get into just about whereever they want to get to. Lexus won't do anything to repair damage by rodents...nor should they. Thats like asking Lexus to fix the damage done when a tree falls on your car.
  17. Stay on them buddy, remember. Just flat out refuse to accept their response unless it is that they are going to repair all of the damage they did to your vehicle. If it doesn't go well with the manager...let him know that you will be seeing him in court. Again...calmly and rationally...but matter of factly. Does anyone have a breakdown of the proceedure involved in replacing the evaporator core? That would be pretty damning, if the proceedure specifically references removing the parts that were damaged...
  18. I can tell...yeah they look nice...
  19. It doesn't look quite as odd in that picture... I agree! People get hot under the collar a lot of times when they hear negative reactions...kudos to you for being a good sport...
  20. As said above you do not have the UL package. the MSRP on your car new was about $41,000.
  21. I believe thats "annoy" not "enoy"
  22. I wouldn't neccesarily do that either...a home over time is a great investment but its not a short term investment. If you buy a home and then sell it 10+ years down the line you're going to be really happy you did. But if you buy one and sell it 3 years down the line...thats going to suck. If I were you I would determine if I were going to be in the house for 5+ years, and buy it with nothing down. Keep the cash invested and growing, write the interest off.
  23. My question too is do points transfer from NV to IL? I got a ticket going 75 in a 55 in PA (same thing, it was a 65, went to a 55 for an instant and back to a 65...he got me in the 55 and pulled me out of a line of cars...no doubt because of the Lexus and ther MD plates). I called my insurance agent and he said the points would not transfer to my MD record so it would not effect my rates. It never did and my driving record is still clean 2 years after pleading guilty and paying the fine. Those speediing ticket lawyers suck...and that whole situation sucks...
  24. Hey man...thats great! But do not pay cash for the house IMHO. You as a veteran have an incredible thing at your disposal...a VA loan. Many people think that once you use your VA loan (I think this is what nc thinks) its gone forever but thats not true. Once you pay it off, be it by selling the house and doing that or just by paying it off, you can use it again...over and over again for your whole life. Terms are great, 0% down. No reason to tie up all your cash. FHA loans are assumable in theory, but the buyer still has to be approved for the loan. Plus lets say you buy a house for $150,000 and you get a $100,000 FHA loan on it. Well, when you sell it lets say its worth $175,000. You would have to find a buyer who has $75,000 plus closing costs to assume it, or you'd have to depend on subordinate financing being available again at the time which is 100% is not now. So assumable in theory... But I agree with nc, be sure you're going to be there 5 years before you buy otherwise you should rent. It is nuts here in DC...I am literally so busy I don't have time to even think...
  25. Speak to the manager, take the pictures with you. Have the car spotlessly clean when you go...wear a suit. Let the manager know, politely and calmly but FIRMLY that under no circumstances will you allow them not to accept responsibility for the damage they did to your vehicle. You entrusted it to them...and they let you down and you pay too much for service there to accept that. Tell them you want very much to continue to have a relationship with them and bring them your vehicle for service, you understand mistakes happen but you insist that they take responsibility for what they did and cover the repairs. If he just dismisses you out of hand (your age will not help you here) then let him know that you will see him in court. Then follow that up with a letter to Lexus, CC the dealer and the local BBB. CC a local news station...everybody loves tearing Toyota and Lexus a new one right now. I really feel for you...if I lived closer I would go with you...
