  1. The data is updated I'm sure, it may just be that in your area nothing new was added between v1.1 and v4.1. v4.1 is still 6 years old...
  2. I've never seen an RX400h with black pearl badges. They're kinda...early '00s. Although thats a 400h in that picture...so I guess they have them. It was never in a package, purely a dealer installed thing like the gold badges. The Platinum Edition Lexus vehicles in 2000 had these badges...so did the RX300 Silversport though.
  3. Its DIYable...but I couldn't figure out how to get the assembly back off the lamp so I just let my mechanic do it. The bulbs are really fragile...much moreso than halogen bulbs.
  4. I paid $1800 for mine from the Lexus dealer, but that included new brakes in the front...
  5. In fact I have never heard of someone having the transmission replaced on an LS...period.
  6. You said loaded to loaded, and they are options on the website ;) Honestly though...they do consider that "fun-to-drive". You should go to the Prius forum and look at all the threads about maximizing fuel economy. They are...incredibly serious about it. It doesn't appeal to me, but I think you would be surprised how mainstream the car actually is. I know a *lot* of people that have them and they can buy any vehicle they want...I know people who have traded luxury cars in on them...they aren't as nutty as the people on the web either.
  7. I personally wouldn't put too much stock in such a thing...definately a "read the fine print" situation...
  8. That is great!!! Congratulations! We gotta move you out here to DC and get that big raise now ;) LOL @ RX, always the pragmatist!
  9. Go to honda.com and click on build your Honda. Hondas absolutely do have options, they are just dealer installed options...they have upgrade stereos & CD changers, etc. $30,080. The car starts at $27,710. For example Fun to drive is a relative thing. People who like the Prius LOVE the Prius and they love driving them. They dislike the Civic because its too ordinary. To them the performance it delivers is great fuel economy in a fun to drive and versitile package. Many of them don't want a stuffy luxury car image...they want the image of someone who is tech savy and cares about the environment. And the Prius may not offer YOUR definition of performance and luxury, but it has leather heated seats, navigation, keyless entry and start, laser guided cruise control, lane keep assist, LED headlights, a solar panoramic sunroof...pretty luxurious. What does a BMW 3 series have that is more luxurious...aside from the BMW emblem on the hood? Sport and luxury is important TO YOU. Thats what I want to hear you understand. Just because it doesn't appeal TO YOU doesn't make it stupid. Obviously the Prius appeals to a lot of people...
  10. I still don't understand your point. I said lots of people pay $30,000 for compact cars. The fact that a Lexus IS or a BMW 1 or 3 series is a luxury branded vehicle doesn't change the fact that its a...compact car. People buy luxury cars because they deliver a certain level of performance and driving enjoyment and they project a certain image. People buy the Prius for the same reasons, the type of performance and driving enjoyment and image are different...but the rationale is the same. I would never want a BMW 3 series or a Lexus IS...but that doesn't make people who have different priorities than me stupid for wanting one. $27,000 vs $30,000 is semantics. All Prius' don't cost $30,000...only the fully loaded IV with roof and V packages...most Prius' on the road are like $25,000. Oh and by the way, I just priced out a fully loaded Civic Hybrid...$30,080
  11. I don't really understand your question or the point of what you are getting at? You said that people are silly to spend $30,000 on a compact car. I told you that the Prius is not a compact car, and even so people spend WAY more than $30,000 on other compact cars like the BMW 3 and 1, the Mini Cooper, Lexus IS...you name them. You seem to think thats okay as long as it has a luxury badge on the hood...but somehow its silly to spend $30,000 on a Prius because it doesn't have a luxury nameplate when many many other car models cost $30,000 without a luxury nameplate. I don't understand your point? As for naming compact cars that cost $30,000 and sell well without a luxury nameplate...Honda Civics can cost close to $30k...the Mazda 3 (which is not a sports car...its sporty but a car that competes with the Corolla and Civic)...any manner of Volkswagens...
  12. First thing you want to try is a solution of Woolite & water, 1:5 mixture. If that doesn't work we might have to get more drastic...but try that first and report back...
  13. Um...the Toyota Corolla...the best selling car in the country? The Mazda 3...the Honda Civic...compact cars sell really well.
  14. When I go back to reread this thread more and more examples just keep popping out at me... nc211 says this: You say this: And you aren't being rude? Thats a laugh. Let me lay it out for you. The way in which you responded to the above posts was rude, whether you think it was or if it was intended to be that way or not. It was belittling and offensive...obviously it wasn't just me that felt that way. You need to think about how your words come across before you post them. In no way can a personal attack come out of using the word "irritating". If a 5 year old can say it on a playground...you can say it here. A 5 year old isn't going to get a time out for calling his friend irritating on the playground. He would for calling him an a$$hole. Saying that someone is irritating you is a very healthy, valid & respectful way to express frustration about how someone's actions are affecting you. No one has called you names. Saying you are irritating is not calling you a name. This is a friendly forum, and if you cannot respond to people's opinions and voice your own opinions in a friendly and respectful manner you won't be welcome to post here anymore. Those are facts...not opinions. Again...I make the rules. Don't like the rules? Plenty of other forums on the internet. Thread closed.
  15. Was your foot on the brakes at the time? Probably what you experienced was the VSC kicking in and applying braking to specific wheels because the computer sensed that the vehicle was about to enter a skid or had already entered a skid. It happens very quickly. I suppose that the computer applying braking may make the pedal feel softer which would give the feeling that the vehicle had depressed the pedal on its own... However, when you enter a turn and you are not in a skid or about to go into a skid the system will not just depress the brakes.
  16. Definately trans fluid... I would personally think its just a breakdown of the transmission gaskets more than the flush you had done. Had it happened right after the flush I'd feel differently...
  17. Except for the current Chris Bangle design 5 series, it is one of the ugliest BMW ever made. They are so ugly that no one wants them and with the redeign coming out next year, the dealers are practically giving them away. You get get a 2 year old 5 series for under $30000. You don't see how this exchange can be insulting to me? I say that I really like the current 5 series and you come in and say "In fact its ugly, the ugliest BMW ever made, and its so ugly that no one wants them. The 3 series wagon is one ugly car, go check out the A4 advant, its a much better wagon. And how about this? nc has said that he has decided he wants a BMW 3 series wagon. You respond with "Wow that 3 series wagon is one ugly car! Look at the Audi A4 Avant...its much better than that crap you like" That is incredibly rude...and I think nc was being very respectful when all he said to you was that you were beginning to irritate him. You don't see the issue here yet when someone tells you that you are irritating them you cry about a personal attack? Dish it out and can't take it much?
  18. LOL...thats cold...
  19. LOL RX I would love to see nothing more than you make a killing in this thing ;) Thats just the thing though...where is the public safety benefit? How does having the President of Toyota get totally humiliated in public by a bunch of self righteous chest thumping politicians who don't even know what they are talking about benefit the public safety? In fact all it does is cost us taxpayers a bunch of money so the committee members can be seen on TV being "tough". Free campaigning.
  20. Actually my ES didn't cost $15,000 more than a top of the like Camry, it is more like $5,000. So in your opinion spending $30,000 on a compact car is okay as long as it has a luxury nameplate? Plenty of cars are more than $30,000 and don't have luxury nameplates that sell VERY well.
  21. Not going to take it seriously? I'm the Forums Manager and I am telling you that according to the LOC's Rules of Conduct nc211 committed no wrong towards you. There's nothing to discuss. Calling someone an a$$hole and saying that someone is beginning to irritate you are two totally different things. "You are an a$$hole" would be a personal attack. "You are starting to irritate me" is not a personal attack, nor is it an insulting, derrogatory, or even a slightly rude thing to say in the least. It is simply a fact, you were irritating him and he told you that. Not an issue at all.
  22. Seriously...wasting your breath is right. They've been producing this navigation system with the lockout for 12 years...they're not going to stop now. I still very rarely feel irritated about the lockout. I simply enter my destinations before I leave...and very rarely have the need to type in destinations when driving. I use the system 2-3 times a day every day too...I think its a situation where a little pre-planning can fix the issue. Lexus isn't the only company that has such a lockout either...
  23. You sure it was a transmission fluid leak or a rear main seal leak? That said...tranny flushes are kind of a nono IMHO.
  24. 99% its the tires. Have them balanced again...and if that doesn't solve the issue they may need to be replaced.
  25. Like nc I personally think these congressional hearings are a laughing stock. What possible benefit is there to anyone to have the president of a company sit there and be berated all day by a bunch of holier than thou congresspeople? Its such an exercise in American !Removed! waving its kind of disgusting IMHO. Like if any of them were the president of Toyota anything would have been different. In fact most of them couldn't even run a small company let alone one as big as Toyota.
