  1. Naa Lexus won't replace the windshield. They will sometimes do touchup work for free on a brand new car. I dont know where you live, but here auto insurance companies MUST replace as many windshields as you want and waive the deductible because its a safety item. I just make an appointment, specify OEM glass (which they wont want to do, and they'll try and talk you out of because its much more expensive, but insurance companies cannot force you to use any aftermarket part) take it in, wait 30 minutes and its done, new windshield for free. I know this isn't the case everywhere though.
  2. Yeah sure, in fact thats what most mechanics reccomend on any vehicle with an air suspension when it fails.
  3. I haven't had any problems with mine, and I drive the Beltway a lot. Probably just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
  4. Believe it or not, the Eagle One is a pretty good QD. The Meguiars, both of them, are also good. Right now I'm using a product called "Poorboys Spray and Wipe" and I like it better then all of them conbined. Its not technically a QD, Steve from Poorboys has another product that is a QD that I have not tried. The Spray and Wipe is actually designed to be used to wash the car when it is minorly dirty. I like it because of the extra protection against scratching. I actually carry it in the car. Check out Poorboys Products They're all great, I use the EX sealant, the Trim Restorer for faded black trim. The high gloss tire shine for the tires, and the Spray and Wipe.
  5. Woah, what product were you using?!?! I've never known a leather cleaner that could eat right through the protective coating...
  6. He has an FM modulator, the XM can work with any stereo through that avenue.
  7. The air suspension is HORRIBLE to maintain and replace. Thats why people always tell you to stay away from air suspension models if you're going to keep them for the long term. The standard suspension rides great, and is MUCH more reliable.
  8. I also agree, Turtle Wax is more of a Target product. As for the clay bar, the easiest way is to wash the car, rinse the car, then resoap each panel and use the soap as the lube for the claybar, then rinse and dry. I'm gonna move this to detailing.
  9. Believe it or not, I found the Woolite solution better than Lexol...
  10. I hear conflicting between it being a 2005 and 2006 model, definately not 2004.
  11. Oh and also, no the EXT PWR/SNOW switch does not mean you have the air suspension. This controls the shift points of the transmission. If you have two buttons next to the shifter, one that says HIGH/NORMAL etc then you do indeed have the system.
  12. Hey Matt, I couldnt figure out how to do that.... Did you get my PM?
  13. As I just discovered (thanks to Scottwax on Autopia) Woolite and water makes a fantastic (and CHEAP) leather cleaner, dilluted 6:1.
  14. What you want is a Porter Cable Orbital Polisher.
  15. Believe it or not, a mixture of woolite and water (6:1) does a great job. This is ScottWax's trick on Autopia, works great I've found.
  16. Is this your first Lexus? I find that the brake pedals are a little lighter than other vehicles, you do get 100% used to it though.
  17. $4k if Joe at the gas station does it LOL, its $15,000 easy. Keep in mind the airbags are $1,000 a peice installed.
  18. Hey Stevie, they look great! The only way I found to make the pictures pop onto the post is to link them on a server and use the IMG code. I use www.imagemagician.com I'm not sure why they dont pop up, I'll talk to Matt and Steve about it.
  19. Probably what it was ;) I LOVE the LS. Its probably my favorite car on the road. Its what got me turned on to Lexus, I'll probably never drive anything else. If I'd been comfortable enough that I could handle the $1000+ payments I would have gotten an LS430. Basically what I set out to do was find the best car for around $40,000 that most closely approximated what I love about the LS, the smooth quiet ride, and the feeling of heft and quality. I drove just about everything in this bracket, including the GS3 Lexus and BMW 5 series (too sporty for what I was looking for) and by far the new ES comes remarkably the closest. When they say "Baby LS" they're really not kidding. I considered a CPO 2000 LS, but I have a slight character flaw that makes me want the latest thing, so I wanted to go with a new car. As I've driven the ES more, and become more acquainted with it, I like it more and more. It rides great, not as smooth as the LS, but it feels lighter and more maneuverable. I hope that better tires will close the smoothness gap a little bit, I think they will. Its dead quiet, I think the LS and the ES are just about equal here. As for FWD vs RWD I can safely say that I dont really drive the car in such a way that I notice a difference. The FWD in the ES is very well done with no torque steer. What I miss most about the LS is the power. I also think that the ES tends to fit more into where I am in life now. I'm still a 20something, and I suppose my girlfriend was probably right that the LS tends to look like an older person's car. I argued that the average ES driver is almost as old, but she is right, its a little less "staid". If I had it all to do again, I'd definately get the ES as opposed to saddling myself with the payments on the LS. Next time though, when my business has grown more out of its youth, I'll probably get into an LS.
  20. Wow, thats a great deal! Is that typical in Japan of that model? Here you'd be looking at $7,000-$9,000 US...
  21. In Japan though, its worth just as much as the Windom as our ES300 is here...
  22. Yeah Mike I'd definately love to see some pictures.
  23. Naa, why would it be considered a lie? The Windom and the ES300 are the same car. Plus, Toyota is going to introduce Lexus over there anyways ;)
  24. Is it bad that I really didnt even notice the Porsche's? LOL
