  1. Probably just for the thrill of stealing them...
  2. I fully agree lol
  3. Well in part because of VBDenny's glowing reviews and what I've read over at Autopia I'm going to be trying some Collinite 476s Detergent Proof wax sometime after Thanksgiving in preperation for the winter. What VB uses is the Insulator Wax, the 476s is a paste wax that is about twice as durable and is specifically designed to withstand detergents used in automatic carwashes, which I use touchfree highpressure washes in the winter. It should last me 3 good months. I'm going to add another coat or two of the Poorboys EX, then apply a coat or two of the Collinite. Depending on the final look of the Collinite I may or may not top it with P21S wax, we'll have to see.
  4. The font of the numerals is different.
  5. They're terrible in the snow lol
  6. Unfortunately it looks like this is the case...
  7. Wow wanda, thats so great! Thanks so much for the offer! All we can do is take it as a learning experience and try to make lemonade out of the whole thing...
  8. Well guys, we had a big server !Removed! and as a result, we may have perminantly lost some information. We're still looking to restore everything, but at least for now this is where we're at. If your account doesn't exist, just re-register with the same name. If and when they retrieve our information the new account will just be replaced with the old one. We're really sorry for any inconvenience and the loss of information. So, lets get more down. If you have a detailing question just pop on here and those of us in the know will get it answered for you. The detailing store is still open we just haven't replaced the banner ads yet. We're concentrating on restoring the information and setting up the boards as they were. You can access the store at www.lexuscarcare.com
  9. You hear the rattle only when its cold?
  10. Well the shake is probably just a misbalanced wheel. I would have them all balanced and rotated. The seat is pretty common and can be repaired by tightening. My suggestion is take it to Lexus since you're going to go there and get the service history anyways and just let them tighten everything up.
  11. We're still working on restoring the database to where it was as of yesterday, so it still possible we'll keep our fingers crossed. If that happens Craig the new account that you created here would be deleted and replaced with your old one. We'll keep you posted...
  12. Mine runs right abour 2300...
  13. Hey everyone, just wanted to post and say that I fixed by bumper damage from where that guy backed into me myself! I washed it today, looked at the damage and decided that I'd hit it with my buffer, a yellow cutting pad and some Dual Action Cleaner Polish (DACP) which is a good bit more abrasive than a swirl remover. The product is a diminishing abrasive, so as you work it in at high speed it breaks down and becomes a powder, then you just wipe it off. The car was still somewhat wet in the cracks and the buzzing of the buffer made it drip, keeping the product wet and not allowing it to fully break down, so if I hit it again after its fully dry it should do an even better job. Result, two small (one 1/4 inch and one 1 inch) spots where it needs paint, but all other damage such as buffing or such was gone. I filled in the spots with my touchup pen, then let it dry and hit the area again with the dacp, it looks almost perfect. I ordered a clearcoat pen from Audiovisuals for the final touches. I dont think I'll even need the body shop now. I moved the appointment to next Monday because of the Hurricane anyway, I'll work on it more and see!
  14. Yeah you vould always swap the cluster for one in a junkyard, but you'd have to somehow change the calibration too... By cluster we mean the whole guage pod.
  15. LOL, thats so those of us that wish to be kind to certain members that have issues with foul language have an outlet.
  16. If its the motor too I agree with sk, its a good price.
  17. As a matter of fact, you're in my area you can go to my guy, PM me and I'll give you the contact info.
  18. I wouldn't reccomend having Sears do it, thats like having Jiffy Lube do it. But an independent mechanic, sure.
  19. I wouldn't because of the silicone...
  20. Yes, you shouldn't wax in the sun, it creates streaking. You can remove that streaking with a quick detailer spray. As for towels, good Microfiber towels wont leave lint, and they wont scratch either. A waffle weave MF towel will hold almost a gallon of water... Check out www.pakshak.com
  21. Pure carnuaba wax only lasts a few weeks, waxes with additives (like a lot of OTC stuff) doesnt have as good a shine, but it lasts longer.
  22. I believe it for sure. So ccf, basically you paid them $1650 for that expresso and the use of an ES300 for a couple days. If I were you, I'd *BLEEP* my pants right where I sit lol. I wish I had the money to just throw away into the wind... A independent import mechanic would have carged you $400 for that job, and probably would have had you out in a day. While I agree, the free loaner is nice, and I do let them do services when I know I'm going to need to leave the car and take a loaner, but for an oil change where I'm just going to sit there anyway? I've got a quick lube place up the road that uses Mobil 1 synthetic oil and a Mobil 1 filter and charges me $30, they have Krispy Creme doughnuts and coffee. I dont even like Espresso... vs paying Lexus $70 for a dino oil change (no synthetic) and having it take three times as long just so I can cruise the gift shop? Nope, I work too hard for my living to do that.
  23. I'd think you could get it for less than that...
  24. Well, the GS and the LS are really two very different cars. The LS is much smoother quieter, and a good bit bigger while the GS is throatier and sportier. I personally prefer the LS, but the GS is sportier if thats what you like. Also, the GS will be revamped in 2005, so you'll only have a new model for a year, and right now Lexus has seriosuly slowed the production of the GS, and GS430s are hard to find. The 04 LS is a refresh and it'll be the new car until at least 2006 if not 2007. I say go with the LS430. We just looked at one in depth for my dad, and its a beauty for sure.
  25. You can get everything at www.premiumautocare.com. Well, it depends on what the current condition of your paint is. Klasse AIO is better at removing oxidation and cleaning the paint, while P21S GEPC is better at adding oils to the paint, better for near new condition paint. Personally,. I'd give the Klasse AIO a try. As for the P21S Wax, on your color I would bother topping the Poorboys, you're not going to see much of a difference, and you'll save youself the $30.
