  1. Some waxes you can layer. Cleaner waxes you cant because they remove the wax layer beneath. However, you can usually do 2 coats of a good pure carnuaba like Pinnacle Souveran or S100/P21S. After a couple weeks the wax is probably gone anyway.
  2. It works for us guys LOL, however any stylist will tell a woman that she should use seperate shampoos and conditioners because the combo jobs just dont do it. I use one too lol, however my fiance doesn't.
  3. Since the car is older I really think you should polish with a good hand polish like Klasse All In One (VERY good) or P21S Gloss Enhancing Paintwork Cleanser. I think these products work well by hand and offer a great basis for sealants or wax. Once you've protected the car, just wash it weekly with a gentle carwash soap.
  4. Yes actually, it is possible. If you run a search on the net for "heated seats" you'll find several companies and upholstery shops that will do a conversion for ya.
  5. I can. I know in the issue of my dad, he's on the phone all the time in the car, its how he works. If he had to pull over every time he wanted to make a call, he'd never get anywhere. Cell phone use is hardly as big a problem as everyone seems to say and think it is. Of all accidents, 30% or so are caused by distractions of the driver, onlt 1.5% of them are caused by cell phone use. Hardly the life ending must act now issue the media would lead us to believe it is. My best advice is program those 10 numbers carefully. You cant even make coice activated calls when the car is moving?
  6. I'll have to try that Esmark, I havent found anything I'm really satisfied with for cleaning the nav screen... acf, Not really. Think about it this way, a product that is slave to one purpose always does that purpose better than a product designed to work on several. Like 2 in one shampoo conditioners lol. Since you dont have navigation you can use a good glass cleaner and an MF towel to clean all the glass and the shiny plastic (guage cluster, radio readouts etc) the wood you can clean with just water if you want, but it comes out better with a wood polish or Plexus. And the vinyl dash can be cleaned very well with a spray bottle of Woolite and water dilluted 6:1. That way the only product you have to buy is a glass cleaner...
  7. At least they honored the warranty. And give the car a loving pat on the trunk, it waited until your prospective emplyoyer was gone before it let go ;) Hopefully that'll end your troubles for a while...
  8. Did you clean the MAF sensor?
  9. Any car parts store, or online. Its in a black tube, not a bottle but a tube. Smells good too ;)
  10. Glad to see the Autopia site survived the hacking! I was concerned David would loose a lot of his data.
  11. Yeah but they dont have any specialty lamps in the low beam size. HID lamps are totally different then halogen lamps because there is no filament, no bulb to speak of. The ballast builds a a spark that creates a circuit, which creates the light.
  12. Thats another big thing, is keeping your head up. Its REALLY easy to become discouraged. Its a lot of hard work, its different than working for someone else. Sort of like walking a tightrope without a net...
  13. Actually cloth is preferred in japan, thats why they have cloth seats. its taken Toyota 13 years to figure out that Americans have no interest in a Lexus with cloth seats. The original LS400 had cloth standard...
  14. If you're willing to put in the time, then there's definately a future in it, especially for a woman. I say especially for a woman because of the relative rarity of car saleswomen, most dealerships welcome the diversity. Plus, most men have a hard time asking for things or saying no to a woman, whereas women will do both to a man. So a saleswoman has a destinct advantage when dealing with a male customer.
  15. Thanks!
  16. They're modified, but thats them ;)
  17. Those are good prices on HID kits actually, but Mac's right the H1 wont fit.
  18. I own my own company, we do small time marketing and consult with car dealerships about customer retention. I've never worked for anyone else, and hope I never have to. Basically what you need to make sure you know is what you're getting into, what kind of upfront costs, what paperwork you need to file for the state and federal gov'ts, how you want the company to be structured, sole proprietership, partnership, corporation, LLC. Draw up some good business plans, or have an accountant draw them up for you. And you also have to be motivated by money, if you're not you wont survive. When you work for someone else, you can afford to be motivated by care and compassion because you make the same wage regardless, but on your own, the dollar is your only friend. If its any good advice, my fiance's stepsister was a nurse, and now runs her own nurse staffing company bringing home about $300,000 for 1/2 the time she used to work as a nurse. Good stuff huh?
  19. Thank you VMF! I'd like to add that to the LS FAQ if you dont mind, your whole post here.
  20. Your eyes are bad LOL. ;) Everything forward of the A pillar is all new, all the sheetmetal. I can clearly see it in person and in the pictures. The changes are gentle, its just a refresh but they're unnmistakingly there.
  21. I use a "claybar technique" also and it cost me $19, not $350. Its a waste of money in my opinion. I've talked to several detailers that routinely fix the damage caused by these Ziebart places. It is a paint protection system, its a system designed to protect the paint. And the system has to be re-applied every year, there's no such thing as a paint sealant that lasts forever. You pay them $150 to rewax it every year! Their prices are laughably rediculous, you can get a TOTAL detail inside and out by a great independent detailer for $150 on a Mustang. The car will look better then Ziebart would ever make it look. I do everything you listed top my car 2 times a year, EVERYTHING and then some except I use a different sealant. Costs me maybe $20 in products and my own time. It is however, your money. They're not getting mine though.
  22. I doubt you'll have to fix anything at the car parts store either. Sounds to me like the job for you is a porter, they can work really odd hours. Oh and Alan, I definately know what a Studebaker is ;)
  23. I agree with Steve on both points. Definately take the job! You wanted to learn about cars, thats a great place to do it. Another fun job is working for a dealership as a porter. You get to drive all sorts of cars around, and get the same experience. A lot of the salespeople pick porters that they like and teach them the ropes. Car sales can be a good career, especially for a woman who likes cars. if you're good and put in the hours, you can make $250,000 or so selling luxury cars. I toyed with the idea, but didnt want to work that hard lol. Thats why I started my own business, now others work and I get paid. ;) I dont make $250,000 though lol. At the car shop you'll find all kinds of people to teach you everything they know. Its easier than us on here doing it because they can show you hands on. I bet you'll have a great time, and the money wont be bad for fixing up the Lex. Hell, they could probably help you with a lot of the problems.
  24. It will be better than the bimmer because its FWD. With snow tires it'll take you where you need to go for sure.
  25. In order to get to the heater you'll have to remove the leather cover on the base of the seat, its easy to do... anyone have exact instructions for him?
