And no, it is not good for the pump to be starved for fuel. I simply would not let the tank get that low.

Carmax just listed one out in Ellicott City the exact combination. I may drive over there tomorrow and take a look at it. Its an '05 with 48,500 miles (little high) for $27k...

Well the 3 series BMW is no bigger than your IS300. The LS430 is a great car for a baby because the rear seat is so roomy. I'm 28 and I'm shopping for an '05 or '06 LS430...

Again though, you can say bad things about the ES sharing the Camry platform...but they sell more Camries than anybody else sells midsized cars, and the ES is their best selling car with annual sales of over 80,000 units. I think the buying public has spoken. I think Mercedes and BMW have some great cars, and I do agree that as far as prestige goes they are a step ahead. However, prestige isn't everything and I'm quite satisfied with the size of my !Removed! and my hairline... I think a lot of these people are not and thats why they talk this way.

I agree with Jim...the harness is certainly not there. Toyota doesn't waste money harnessing their cars for things they don't have like some other manufacturers do. The cars are not even wired for options they COULD have had from the factory, let alone things that weren't even available. No nav harness on non-nav cars. Ask the folks on the Prius board that wire up the Japan-spec EV mode buttons. No wiring harness, and it voids the warranty, and what you are proposing will do the same. Seriously, the only thing on my dad's LS430 thats broken are the foldable mirrors because he always had them set to retract and extend automatically when the car was turned on and off. Now the driver's one no longer works. The reason you had electrical problems with your RX300 was because of all the crap you did to it. Do yourself a favor and don't do it to this car.

Looking For A Bull Bar For My 08 Rx400h
SW03ES replied to cduluk's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
Steve, you are being extremely kind. Yeah...I am... ;) Its not that I dislike it, its just that it doesn't go with the vehicle. The RX is not a "real" SUV, and such adding something like this is kind of like putting a giant wing on a Civic that is FWD that won't even benefit from a wing...or a fake hood scoop...or something like that. The RX...especially the 400h is fairly usless offroad...doesn't have true AWD. If it were a 4 RUnner or something...even a GX470 it would be different. This is kind of poseurish...IMHO. And you're right, young people do tend to like to do stuff like this to their cars. -
*I* would buy the LS430...no question. They are however completely different cars that appeal to a very different driver. Do you want a sporty car or a supremely confortable and smooth highway car?
-
It actually wouldn't surprise me if they had. Have you driven a Ford lately? The line's a gag but its true. The Lincoln MKS I drove for instance felt of higher quality than the ES350. I believe Ford was ranked higher in IQS this year than Toyota, not sure abour 3 & 5 year dependability.

It was worth a shot!

Yeah hell, buy it at Toyota.

Thank you dc! Yeah blake, its the same color but the pictures of the Carmax car are washed out, the pictures of the first car are more realistic to what it looks like in person. Its a smokey brown color, similar to that new Truffle Mica that comes on those Pebble Beach RX's and ES's.

Wait until you see the newer Lexus cars and the covers on them... Its to make a neat and tidy looking engine bay and to reduce noise. If they bother you...remove them. The only person being sarcastic here gabep, dc's response was obviously in jest hence the smilie, no need to insult people. If you post something on an internet forum, be ready to recieve comments and you won't like all the comments you get trust me.

Here's a good looking car: http://www.carmax.com/enUS/view-car/defaul...03-bb9b5fb63a31 Its in Tampa at Carmax, 29k miles, $30k.

Oh I definately want it...but I want to take my time and make sure I find the right car. I plan on having this car for a long time, and since its my first time buying used which I'm a little nervous about its gotta be the right car. I've actually never driven one with the sport suspension, but I doubt it'd be for me. I like my cars as smooth and quiet as possible ;)

Es330 2005 Air Conditioning Problem
SW03ES replied to carlexes330's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
You don't have all the facts, and niether do I. Niether one of us can say for certain who is at fault, but he's said several things that lead me to believe he is... The dealer did the only thing they can do to find a leak...recharged the system with the dye! What else were they supposed to do? I find it very hard to believe that they would have told him that they had infused the system with a dye and not said anything about needing to look at the car to see if they could find the dye anywhere. By his own admission he is an engineer...I'm not an engineer and when someone tells me they put a dye in something to look for leaks...it occurs to me that someone has to...look for the leaks. More of a break...they split the repair 50/50 on an out of warranty car with a loopy customer, what more do you want? Like I said before, the issue with it not cooling properly now is totally seperate. If it were within 5k miles I'd agree with you Lenore, but with 20,000 miles seperating the two visits its not for sure the same problem. Who knows what could have happened to the system over 20,000 miles...it could have developed another leak... -
Now PETA is complaining....lol no joke they really are. They are sending him a tool where he can trap a bug and release it outside so he doesn't have to continue "slaughtering" (their word) flies, and they want a formal apology.

Es330 2005 Air Conditioning Problem
SW03ES replied to carlexes330's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
If you purchased a 2005 car in August of 2006 it was not new...even though the car was purchased in August of 2006 that doesn't change the fact that it was manufactured in 2005...or even 2004 depending on how early in the model year it was built. The car existed and was presumably operated before you bought it. I can't believe a new 05 would still be on a dealer's lot in August of '06 when the '07s were coming out. The car is 4-5 years old...thats a fact. Look on the drivers doorjamb, it will show the manufacturing month and year of the car. Why do you think that they put dye in the system at 34k miles if nobody was ever going to look for the dye. Like you said you apparently are an engineer...would that make sense to you? Had you had the dealer look at the car after they put the dye in you're right, it would have been taken care of in one swoop. But YOU didn't. The dealer can't make you bring the car in. You are not without culpability here. My feeling is that they did indeed suggest you come back in to have the dye looked at, or maybe they figured you would be in for your next service in 5k miles and didn't come back until 49k miles, or something like that. Your A/C was working just fine so you didn't bother to take the car back in to have the dye looked at, and the freon evaporated again and it destroyed the condenser. I think their offer to pay for the repair 50/50 is more than fair. Now if its not operating properly now after the repair thats a different issue, take it back and I bet they will make it right. Its a car and it needs maintenance and it has a warranty period just like anything else. They did what they told you was a temporary repair at 35k miles and you neglected to follow up on that repair to have them look for the dye and the condensor failed after another 20k miles. Your fault. The dealer services hundreds of cars, you have to stay on top of maintaining your vehicle yourself. If you want to file lawsuits and waste your time thats your business, but at some point you have to take responsibility for your own actions. The car is out of warranty...you could have purchased an extended warranty if you wanted to. You keep saying "elite dealership" like that means something. It means their customers have rated them highly, thats all. Same techs...same cars. Better service maybe. Also leads me to believe that this is more your fault than theirs. -
Yet in your other thread in the ES forums you tell people to buy a BMW or a Mercedes...

02 Es Braking Issue (downshifting)
SW03ES replied to michaelmetcalf's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Mine has never done anything like that. The transmission in general is a little clunky at times, but nothing like the issue you're describing. Mine has been reflashed twice, go ahead and have it reflashed and see if it helps but I doubt thats the issue... -
Es330 2005 Air Conditioning Problem
SW03ES replied to carlexes330's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Well first of all, your car is not 2.5 years old, its 4 years old. 2005-2009 is 4 years. If it was 2.5 years old then its 2007...which obviously it is not. Did you ever take the car back to the dealer to have them look for the dye? I don't know what else they could have done if you never brought the car back to them to look for the dye. If the freon is low, theres a leak somewhere and they obviously knew that because they added the dye...they recharged the system and it worked fine for another 20,000 miles, until obviously the freon evaporated again and that burned out the evaporator coil. You say you took the car back at 49k miles and had them do a "thorough check", well that that point any dye would be gone. You needed to take the car back a week or so later to look for the dye. They did intervene to assist you...they split the cost with you 50/50... Well...if they told you that the repair was around $2,000 and that you would have to pay the $1400 labor cost, how much did you think the parts were? $2,000-$1400=$600. Sounds like their estimate was pretty accurate. What did you "later" find out?
