I liked the previous Mazda 3 hatch too. I've always wanted one hatch in the family. Its a must for things like this IMHO.

I never said what he did was my cup of tea, I just said that he was regarded by everyone who met him and came across on his show to me as being a genuine & gracious family man. If you've never seen any of the things I've mentioned how can you say one way or the other? Well...I personally can't imagine being glad something is off the air because someone is dead...whether I liked whatever the particular thing was or not. Not my cup of tea you're right. Just because we may not find value in what someone does for a living doesn't mean its okay to mock them after their death...JMHO. He was a pitchman, thats what pitchmen do. Obviously it was effective or he wouldn't have been as successful as he was. If you watched him on his show, and listened to any of the people who had interviewed him you'd see that he was definately a class act. Always time for an interview, didn't take himself too seriously, always self-depricating and a good sense of humor. Good family-man. Nothing to be ashamed of or to mock there.

I wouldn't put two tires of any different tread pattern on the same axle...whether they are very similar or not...you have no idea what the differences in sidewall construction are, weight, rolling resistance...bad idea IMHO.

Actually the buttons on the 06-07 wheel are not momentary switches, they are rocker switches just like on your RX... My gut reaction would be the airbags would work. However...the only way to know for sure, and to be sure the bags and the inflation system aren't specific for each vehicle, the driver placement, and the cabin, is to leave the OEM one in there...

The LS has a much longer and flatter hood. The hood on the ES is too sloped ;)

Yeah he had advanced heart disease and didn't even know it...hits close to home heart disease runs rampent in my family. My dad and both his brothers, their mother and father, I have a cousin who had open heart surgery at 21. I'm okay...but not for long I'm betting. Its incredible that can happen, but it does. When my dad had his bypass surgery 15 years ago he had a lot of chest pain before which is what sent him to the hospital. Well when they did the cath they found that he had a 90% occlusion in a three-way intersection of arteries they call the "Widowmaker" because it causes no pain, discomfort, or symptoms...just death by massive cardiac arrest. He had another blockage in an unimportant ancillary artery that was causing the pain and had it not been for that he'd be dead. In fact that blockage in the intersection was so dangerous he had a coronary being wheeled into the operating room the next day...had he still been in pre-op...he'd be dead. He was 51... Scary...you think about these things presenting symptoms beforehand and it being a ongoing care situation but all to often its not. So...go to the cardiologist.

It was a heart attack...he had advanced coronary artery disease and didn't have any symptoms... Yeah...not funny to me either...but everybody reacts to these things in different ways. If it were that guy who hocks the sham-wow and has prostitutes bite off his tongue it might be funny...but Billy Mays was a class act.

I've never driven an RL... Not much rides like a Lexus, even the ES... You're spoiled for life now!

The Prius makes a bunch of weird noises too...there are definately hybrid-specific noises...

Should work, don't see why not. Not so sure about the radio controls... One thing to think about, the vinyl on the airbag cover has a very different texture on the ES350 than you have on your RX. It wouldn't look right IMHO...

Did everybody else hear this too? Billy Mays of Oxi-Clean fame was found dead this morning by his wife in his home. He was on a plane yesterday that hard-landed in Tampa causing the front landing gear to fail, he was hit on the head by falling luggage but wasn't seriously hurt. A local Fox station interviewed him after the landing and he seemed tired, but fine (had just returned from being on the road for 2 weeks). He complained to his wife before he went to bed that night about not feeling right...and never woke up. They don't know for sure that the bump on the head was the cause, but it sounds and awful lot like Natasha Richardson after her slight head bump dying the next day. I bet when they do the autopsy tomorrow they find a similar story. Really sad, I always liked his infomercials and I had been watching some of his "Pitchman" show on Discovery and enjoyed it. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy and his informercials are a family operation. I'm sure he'll be missed by many... Tough week in the entertainment industry sheesh... Watching that interview with him less than 24 hours before his death is incredible to me, one minute you're fine and then the next thats it...
