  1. The Pilot Sport A/S are good tires.......but compared to other tires, it's very pricy! Russ, have you made a decision on tires?
  2. What colour is the tranny fluid currently & does is smell burnt? Do you have any tranny fluid leaking at all? If you do a complete 100% tranny flush, make sure you have the tranny pan gasket replaced ($15 or there abouts) & have your mechanic clean the filter mesh screen. I will be switching to Amsoil synthetic ATF later this year myself as it's compatable with both Dexron II & III (which if mempry serves is what your 94 requires) & Toyota type IV which my 01 requires. It's fantastic stuff! Have a look at this link: http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/atf.aspx Good Luck & just make sure you re-fill it with the correct level, you will be fine! B)
  3. In addition to the motorvac, are all your tire pressures at the correct psi? They should be around 32 - 34 psi. B) And yes, very short trips are murder on a car, especially the short distance you travel. :( The odd time (every couple weeks) I would suggest to go for a decent highway drive to let the car 'stretch her legs'. B)
  4. Beautiful looking car. ENJOY! B) ;)
  5. Is that a pain in the butt (the plastic clip itself) to replace?
  6. Agreed, $7 - 8k sounds about right. B)
  7. The new MB is a nice looking vehicle however IMO. B)
  8. How many miles on the car apez? Any oil leaks? B)
  9. because they don't have what they are defacing/destroying. :chairshot: could also be how they were raised. some say people like that are a mirror of their parents. Maybe they weren't breast fed or just simply dropped as a baby. I learned the hard way, you really can't have anything nice in today's society. it's a shame. ← I hear ya exdot! These people need a few...... :chairshot: ;)
  10. Amsoil ATF will run cooler than conventional tranny fluid (the number 1 enemy of an automatic transmission is heat!), protects better & stays more fluid in extreme cold temperatures along with extended drain intervals. Have yet to hear any complaints with the shift quality with it. B)
  11. Try a wax & buff. Why can't people leave other peoples things alone!?
  12. I'll send you a PM. B) ;) I'm just courious is all & I appreciate your help. :)
  13. Bill, what is the exact tire size you need? kk, the Assurance Comfortread is a good tire (but not at all a performance tire in the least), but due to the high performance nature of the GS 400, it's not a very popular tire for the GS (I think your the only one I know that has put that tire on a GS).....let me put it this way, my Dad put a set of them on his 1990 Buick Park Ave & I won't even consider them for my ES......the Triple Tread yes, not the comfortread. Just my 2 cents.
  14. Smoking in a car, or house, or anything decreases its value tremendously. But one suggestion though, one place people seem to overlook is the headliner!!! You have to clean it well with both fabreez, and that knit roller (does an amazing job of cleaning, pulls the dirt right out). I still remember the day back in 2000 when my friend bought his 96LS with 58K for 12,800. Best deal of the centery. But if I were you, i'd add a three thousand and get a 98. ← If that's the case, just sell the vehicle to a fellow smoker! :whistles: ;)
  15. Actually you can use Amsoil synthetic ATF......it's compatable with both Toyota type IV & Dexron III & has longer drain intervals ;) B) http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/atf.aspx
  16. Find out what other cars similar to yours are going for both on dealer lots & privately to get a starting point. Make sure everything is in good working order with proof of maintenance records & detail the car inside & out for a good appearance to a potential buyer. Obviously, you will get more selling it privately than trading it in, but it is more of an aggravation with having it taken to a mechanic, getting repairs done & such......weigh both options. B)
  17. Kid ... Hmm ... How bout your 04 ES300? Seems to me that a 1993 ES300 would sell retail for about $4000 low end $7000 high end. I wouldn't get that for mine. That's just what I have to play with. I own this car and could invest enough into it to increase it's worth and have a fine running machine. Since I just bought a new Mazda Tribute I'm not about to go out and buy another new car. I think a 98 ES300 with about 80k might run about $12000. Course i'd probably have to put some maint. $ in that as well. DCG ← DCG, not sure what to advise about the wheel bearing.....what is the price of that part new? To be blunt & honest about your above comments......if you 'invest' some $$$ into your ES, you won't get any additional cash for it if you sell it (if you did were talking MAYBE a couple hundred bucks if that).....a potential buyer would expect most these items to work & be in good condition or they have more 'bargining' power to lower your price if you see what I am trying to say. I would price out the most important items discussed before (including the wheel bearing) & decide whether it's worth keeping & repairing the car, or cut your losses & plan on replacing it with a newer ES. If the repairs & parts run into the thousands, I think the writing might be on the wall IMO. ;) Keep us posted!
  18. lmao cam!! DCG, I would suggest you get the main 'mechanical' items fixed on the car first & the other items that are let's say 'cosmetic' on the back burner for the time being. Focus on the brakes, exhaust & oil leak to start with. Do you have a good, reasonably priced mechanic? if not, ask friends & family to recommend one......The ES is very mechanically similar to the Camry V6 as you know so parts & repairs should not be astronomical. Having trouble with the 'driver side heat switch' you mentioned.......are we talking about the heated seat? Another suggestion for the other items, some of these things can be purchased at an auto salvage yard or auto wreckers such as the windshield, hood shocks, perhaps even the exhaust system, fender & grille etc. IF you have to replace ALL these items brand spanking new, I suggest cutting your losses & finding another car as you will most likely spend more than the car is actually worth in the end considering the year of your ES. f you change the tires from 15 - 17", yes you will need new rims as well & the 17" tires will be much more expensive than the 15".....no matter what type of tire you get. What are the current 'new' tires on the car now? B)
  19. How did you manage to get all that info VMF? Do you work or have friends at car fax? That's impressive! B) ← no i have an unlimited carfax account:) ← Hey, that's cool! B) I'm guessing it dosen't work for Canadian vehicles?
  20. Keep us posted! What kind of coolant did your mechanic put in your ES? Green, Red long life?
  21. Is $55 for the whole 'assembly'? IE new fuel door, ralated parts etc?
  22. How did you manage to get all that info VMF? Do you work or have friends at car fax? That's impressive! B)
  23. Nissan now sells performance parts through their dealer network in North America under the brand "NISMO" which is there performance arm. Try doing a google search & failing that, there is a Nissan site for pretty much every model. www.freshalloy.com Good Luck! B)
  24. Refer to my questions I posted on the other thread you commented on. IF you tell me what exactly you are looking for in a tire, I will be better able to help with a selection. You mentioned the best possible ride.....as in smooth & quiet? It sounds like you need a long mileage tire if you do 500 miles a week. What is the exact tire size you need?
  25. What is the exact tire size you need & for what year & model Lexus? What are you looking for in a tire? smooth ride, longest mileage, good in rain & snow?
