  2. I have LS400 96's and it developed the same problem. I started to work intermidiately when I used the button on the remote and now it doesn't work at all. I can't open the trunk using remote. I was wondering if anyone found out what the problem is?
  3. I am quite disappointed driving in first snow. This is my first winter and I drive LS 96's. Previous owner, I bought the car in the spring 2005, assured me that he put all weather tires and they will be fine in the winter. But car handled horribly in the snow. Even heavy sand bag in the trunk was little help. Does anybody has to buy snow tire for these cars or there are some type of all weather tires that work? Please advise. Ross PS My car does have traction control.
  4. I am not mechanic, but I heard this on the cartalk radio show: http://cartalk.com/content/puzzler/transcr...516/answer.html Bringing a dead Bug back to life TOM: When he opened the hood, he found a pair of coveralls, a spare tire-- and a jack. RAY: He got into the car, and turned the ignition key to the "on" position. There was no point to turn it to "crank," because the battery was what? Dead. He pumped the gas a couple of times, like you would do in one of those old cars to prime the carburetor. He then jacked up one of the rear wheels, which are the wheels that receive power from this engine. He put the transmission in gear; probably -- I’m guessing -- third gear. If you put it in fourth gear the engine would turn too slowly. If you put it in first, it would be too hard to turn the engine. What he simply did was turn that tire that was elevated off the ground by hand with the transmission in gear. He begins to turn the wheel really fast. Once it began to turn, the engine actually started up and ran and that wheel began to turn on its own. The reason the other wheel didn’t turn is because there's a differential, which will only send power to the wheel with the least amount of resistance. Finally, of course, he would get into the car, take it out of gear, get out and lower the jack down, and if he was lucky he would drive to work without stalling.
  5. good deal. I feel better now. thanks. R.
  6. I'm a new owner of ls 96 with 130K. The car produces buzz sounds for 2-3 min. after the engine is turned off. I just notised it today. It seems coming out from the engine, but I am not certain. The sound is rather quite. It comes in equal intervals. It is like there is a cell phone buzzing or vibrating hidden under the hood. I appreciate any theories and possible explanations. Many thanks, R.
  7. How does one change fuel filter on LS 96? I appreciate your help. R.
  8. the car has 128,700 miles. there are no oil leaks. r.
  9. The previous owner used regular deno oil R. I use 5W30 in mine (that's what the owners manual suggests, but says 10W30 is OK). Is it regular dino oil or synthetic? ←

  11. We live in Michigan. Where do you live Humbleto? R. I personally use MOBIL 1 5W30. The 5W30 should get marginally better fuel economy. I also have a 96 LS. HUMBLETO ←
  12. On my new "old" ls 96 all the records show that previous owner used 10W30 engine oil. Is that OK? I thought that correct oil type is 5W30. Please advise. R.
