  1. Not a bad idea at all. B)
  2. I use 5W30 in mine (that's what the owners manual suggests, but says 10W30 is OK). Is it regular dino oil or synthetic?
  3. Well I'm a smoker & it dosen't mean anything to me personally........re-shampoo the interior & use a real good leather conditioner. Open the windows & moonroof over night if it's parked in a garage away from prying eyes & use a good dose of Fabreeze auto to spray inside. Look at it this way, at least it wasen't a pipe or cigars! ;) B)
  4. Pearl White, hands down!!! :D
  5. Excellent Lexls! Sounds like your parents got a georgous car. Post pics when you can. B)
  6. Well said & very good points byo! Let's hope so. B)
  7. According to the tire rack website, it does not suggest that size as a possible alternitive. Generally, snow tires are usually slightly smaller (or the same factory size), not larger (even though it's a 'slight' bump us in size). Check with a couple of tire dealers before going ahead with the purchase. Perhaps that's one of the main reasons why you can pick them off so cheap? ;)
  8. I am reserving judgement untill some larger & frankly better pics are available from different angles. I have a feeling that back end is going to be modified to look much better than it does in this small pic. B)
  9. I agree, I would seriously consider switching to synthetic. I suggest Amsoil synthetic & before you switch, use their own engine flush (after you pour it in the engine, let it idle for 20 - 30 minutes, drain the old oil out & put the fresh Amsoil in). I'd go with Amsoil's own oil filters as well. B) http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/asl.aspx (engine oil) http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/aef.aspx (engine flush) http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/sdf.aspx (oil filter) It the best stuff you can use! ;)
  10. http://www.colgancustom.com/ If you contact them they will make one for your es it usually takes 2-4 weeks . ← Nothing available for 00 & 01 models on that site dcfish. :(
  11. Are these the new braile pics? :whistles: ← LMAO!!! :whistles: & it's braille btw (with 2 L's) ;)
  12. its a 1992 :cries: im so worried... i checked the oil and its 1/4 quart too low..... but there didnt seem to be any coolant on it...then again i have no idea since the coolant is brown just like the oil.... im so bummed out.... im gonna try and cruise to a mechanic shop and get a comptression test...... any other suggestions my friends? :) would it be worth it to do an engine swap? can i get a motor from a v6 camry?? ← I would wait until you hear what your mechanic tells you. Sounds like you need a new radiator as well as fixing the head gasket. Don't drive it too far or you might end up causing more damage. :(
  13. Welcome! B) Let us know if the concern you have improves with the tranny maintenance.
  14. How many miles on the ES & what is the tranny service history that you know of? ← About 65K miles. Not sure of the service history, but the fluid looks in great "shape" and the owners manual indicates regular Lexus service until about 50K miles. As soon as the trans warms up the "jerking" goes away. I'm thinking a fluid change would help. ← Well it could only help the tranny, not hurt it. B)
  15. There is not a huge market for an actual bra or front end 'mask' for the ES. I personally have not seen one ......it takes away from the front end. Best bet oif you want to reduce stone chips & the like, is to put a clear film from either 3M or Llumar. The Llumar is the better of the 2. www.llumar.com
  16. I'm courious now.......keep us informed about the 'updated' TSB. B)
  17. I'd just clean the filter & install a new gasket personally. B)
  18. agreed bart. B) I'm just suggesting some basic items to try. ;)
  19. The autozone guy's can hook up a computer scan tool that will get info from the cars computer & get any 'trouble codes' off the car....you will be better able to narrow any problems down that way rather than guessing what the problem might be. How serious is the power steering leak? Make sure you get a bottle of PS fluid in the meantime to keep the components lubricated untill you get it fixed (perhaps try an auto wrecker or salvage yard for a replacement since they are much cheaper than a brand new unit). Your last question is a bit of a strange one.......I won't even speculate at this point until we see pictures of what your talking about. There is another member on this site that had the same car as you.....that member is 'Armyofone'. He would be good person to suggest & recommend specific things about the ES 250. B)
  20. The ES 250 is not a very difficult vehicle to work on (pretty much the same as a Toyota Camry V6 of the years 1987 - 1991) so your BF should be fine with the tune up (spark plugs, plug wires, air filter, fuel filter, PCV valve) & tranny flush. Are all the fluid levels ok in the car? (IE: Engine coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid etc). The oil light might be a defective sensor, but a place like autozone or pep boys might be able to do a 'scan' for free to get a trouble code from the car's computer to tell you exactly why the light is on. B)
  21. I disagree, why replace a perfectly good part with another one? If you can get it out of the tranny to clean it, surely you can clean it & re-install it? :whistles:
  22. Welcome to the club! B) How many miles on your ES? My suggestion would be to take it to your mechanic (if you don't have a good & reliable one, ask your friends & family to recommend one......you mentioned you have someone that can do the work for free......is this person a licenced mechanic that you trust?). By the sounds of it, I think you might need a major tune up & throttle body cleaning. Check the oil level yourself (don't drive it until it's at the proper level as well as the other fluid levels in the car) & it might be as simple as adding a qt or so to get the oil level correct & the light to go off. If the light does not go off, you might have something more serious wrong......have it looked at. A good general thorough inspection (takes about an hour or so) would be my best suggestion to see if anything serious needs attention or will soon need attention. A tranny 'tune up' (fluid change, filter mesh screen cleaning & new tranny pan gasket) sounds like it wouldn't hurt either. I hope this helps & post some pics if you can.
  23. Not a ticket in 3 years? I haven't had ANY since I've been driving (almost 13 years now). Maybe I should put a request on E-bay too! :whistles:
  24. 2 great Lexus Club's (CL & LOC) are more than enough for me, but I wish them the best! B) The Lexusforum.com site doesen't even have a posting on their ES subforum yet.
  25. No other comments good or bad on the pic from anyone?
