  1. thank goodness the A/C doesn't seem to be the issue. It does it either when it's off or on...I'm gonna double check the alternator when I get home... thanks for the input
  2. Are your sure you have it threaded properly and it is the correct belt..do hte ribs fit the grooves in the pulleys..? yeah it did it w/ the old belt and the new one, and all ribs seem to line up.
  3. 95 sc400 I'm really confused / frustrated. the car keeps throwin the serp. belt off. I already have replaced the belt...and put a brand new tensioner on. It does it anytime I accelerate semi-hard. I popped the hood and watched it run...you can see the tensioner flexing in kind of a rhythm. all the pulleys can be spun by hand...well except the crank of course. they all seem to spin freely except the alternator is a bit harder to turn. the harmonic balancer could be worn but I don't know how to test it...or how to tell I'm at a loss here...I'm tired of throwin money at parts w/out knowing for sure if it will fix it. Thanks for any input
  4. When I am sitting still it idles kinda rough...also when I am accelerating it hesitates and kinda bucks... I'm guessing its a misfire however I could hear a repeating hiss sound the increases in frequency as the rpms rise. I'm thinking it is either a vaccuum leak or bad plug/coil/wire but if there's any other possibilites please enlighten me...
  5. I just bought a 95 sc400 about an hour ago and have noticed 2 things. there seems to be alot of condensation from the A/C dripping on the exhaust (causing some steam) and out the bottom and a smell of burning...it's not overpowering but it's there. If I remember correctly my ES300 had a similiar smell the first time I drove it. Oh yeah the question part.... Is this normal?
  6. Hey guys...thanks for the input! Alot of your advice on the Beemer realy helped me make my decision...I got full price for my ES (guy didn't haggle at all) I got 4,700 for my 94 w/ 133k on it. So this is what I ended up with...
  7. I backed out...I didn't trust the guy and there was an idiot light for the suspension. I'm checking out an 03 tiburon black on black gt with 35k on it for the same price. The Beemer is my dream car, but the Hyundai (for being a 21 yeard old) is smarter 'cause of the great warranty and stuff. Someday I'll get the 740 (or 750 :-) ) just probably not yet. Thanks guys!
  8. Hey guys - just wondering if anyone has any thoughts for me here. I have a 1994 es300 in mint condition. Everyone who sees it thinks it's a 99. It has 135k on it tan w/ all options. The trade in on it is $3,250. A dealership owned by a friend will give me 4k for it no questions asked - and I am heavily considering a loaded 1998 BMW 740iL with 52000 miles on it for $12,995 with a clean car fax history. Is this a good decision? I don't think I'll have another chance to get that kind of cash for my car...any bad experiences with 7 series anyone? Thanks guys
  9. well, the light was blinking...no shifting problems or anything out of the ordinary. got home turned the car off for about 3 or 4 hours cause I really didn't feel like dealin with it after fightin with Orlando Christmas traffic. So I got back in turned it on and hhaven't seen the light since? I checked my fluid and its about half way between bright red and maroon, and is at the right level. Car drives great (cough cough even at 120+). So was this a fluke thing? is the code still there even though the indicator has stopped flashing? Thanks guys
  10. I'm gonna go get the code tomorrow, but it started blinkin tonight when I was at a stop light (O/D off) The car drives fine...is there some chance that this isn't a serious problem? It's a 94 es with 130k and I had the tranny flushed roughly 15 or 16 k miles ago. I drive 25 miles on the interstate to work everyday...It's my only option car wise...Your thoughts? Thanks
  11. Wanted to get an opinion... My girlfriend has a 00 Solara with cloth interior...We went to a junkyard yesterday and fond a solara with leather interior same color... the passenger and back seat were amazingly like new, but the driver side window i guess was smashed out so the driver seat had been rained on. Do you think rain water would cause significant damage\mold? I got the dude down to 150$ for all 3 seats together...I know for sure if that seat cleans up nicely that's a STEAL. I'm just a little leary of the driver seat having been exposed to the elements....What do ya'll think? Oh btw the Solara and a 94 ES I saw were both in some wicked head on collisions but both cabins were unscathed...these cars are really well built.
  12. does the airflow cog change apply to to the 1mz or just the 3? Mines a 94 es
  13. so I'm on my way to work today...pull up to a stop light and its red and I'm behind a pretty nice SC300...so I'm in my own world lookin at it - and the light turns green...so I let off the brake, and as soon as I hit the accelerator...CLUNK! REVVVVVVV / Grind and car not moving an inch. Now it's sitting at AAMCO and I'm waiting for a horrible horrible call.
  14. Yeah like an Opel Omega or somethin I think...the car rides like a dream and is pretty freakin fast too but repairs are outrageous and often
  15. hey bud u are talkin to the king of this right now...i have a 94 also and just got done replacing the expansion on mine...ive pulled the evap. out about 4 timesin the last month...the first time getting that white plastic ousing out is definitely the hardest...but when u put it back (or when i did) i'd leave the crazy hard screws out cause the housing stays put with like 2 screws holding it... there are a few copper phillips screws all around the bottom half and yes like 2 or 3 in the back up behind it...dont be afraid to yank the stupid thing...personally yelling at it and callin it names b4 pullin on it seemed to work well ;-) the bottom is easier than the top because of one bolt...its up way up in front of the housing but near the black tubing that the air runs out thru to the vents...its black and I took the vent tubing out to ratchet it out. Don't get discouraged the it does come out and the second time you do it you'll be able to get it out in 10 minutes tops...if ya have any questions lemme know...BTW if someone told you the evaporator was bad...it's probably just the 30$ expansion valve attached to it, and your evap is fine...if yours was like mine it slowly started blowing warm and then finally gave up, BUT was fully charged with freon still. (also i'm sure u know but empty the freon b4 u disconnect the evap haha, or else it'll scare the *BLEEP* out of ya!)
