  1. NEVER! Until now. I bought the car in January, 2004 and changed the oil the next day. It was Mobil 1 5w30, [my dad took it to the mechanic]. That was before I encounter LOC, I didn't knew a bit about cars back then, [according to my records, last owners used 5w30 also]. Now, right now is my summer break so I get up late in the day. My dad noticed oil underneath the car[on the garage floor, thats its crib] and took it to the mechanic early in the day. I looked at the bill and it said Castrol Motor Oil 20W50. First of all, I want it to be Mobile 1 and 5w30. So, I called him and he said he has old trucks and cars with more than 200k miles and thats what he uses. So, thats why he put that in. It is not sythetic neither, he said the advantage of using sythetic is that you can go over your oil changing miles [couple of hunderd] and don't hurt the engine. I changed it after driving 1,200 miles and will be in the future. So, he said you change it frequently so, you don't need to use sythetic. I only drove the car about 5 miles after the change of 20w50. Now for the real stuff: Is it going to hurt the engine? Is it going to go back to normal after I change it back to 5w30 in the next oil interval? Should I ask him to change it again? Because it is his fault! You think that will make him mad?:whistles: He has done work on our other cars and does a good job for less $. I don't think he is an idiot but I guess he just thought that he has to think for my Dad, since my dad doesn't know crap about Lexus or any other car for that matter!!!!!

  3. Here's how you would go about cleaning them: http://www.cureline.net/lex/howtos/howto_h...ht_cleaning.htm At the end of the post where it mentiones how to make the lights clear by heating them; it says, that you are better off buying clear lights from ebay or somewhere else rather than doing it yourself.
  4. I wouldn't neither. Credit: Pics from the pinned topic in LS forums.
  5. Give the Lexus dealers the VIN # and they will tell you whats the original color of the car. I think you can just call them and get the answer.
  6. Yes. I have driven other Legends too. And, they are the same as mine. I have also driven a 1996 RL [136k miles] with more miles than my Legend[120k miles]. You are right, they do have a much softer ride and are bigger. That evening I went to test drive the LS, let me tell you; the LS [146k miles] just blew me away comparing it to the RL, which I drove that afternoon in the city & highway with jackrabit accerlation. LS had just about the same ride quality as the RL[don't know about faster, because I didn't floor it]. But without any doubt, RL is an excellent car [since it has a Legend to back it up]. Without the Legend the RL would have been history in my eyes just as Legend did after 95'.
  7. I was about to say. Great way to protect your car in that harsh weather.
  8. Even better!!!! If its in the same condition as the green one.
  9. I'm not sure if ride quality is related to handling. But, my Acura has the best handling of all but the worst/harsh ride I have ever felt. And, the camry the best ride quality ever but handling is crap, in sharp corners, it feels like the car is about to tip over. And the LS is in between these 2 about the ride quality and handling.
  10. Great for you and your Lex. What tires did you put on? And, where did you purchase the ball joint? Was it a DIYer?
  11. Yeah, when I first saw a Gen.1 LS400 from the back, I thought the the car must have been painted or something, that they don't have the LS400 emblem on. I believe they have the glue on them already. All, I know is that if you take them off; they wouldn't hurt the paint. What color emblems does it have on it?
  12. I like it, how it ends up and begins with a sharp point. I don't have that on my LS I just have a crease in the metal. How did you go about doing it. I have seen some Gen. I with it. I saw a black 91' LS with silver stripes to match the silver window tint.
  13. Yup. This is my car: [no LS400 emblem] I heard people say, that Lexus didn't want you to know "LS400" as "LS400" rather than just Lexus, I believe. The LS400 emblem first came out in 1995. If you would like, you can stick one on there. They are sold all over the place. I want to put one on too.
  14. Your welcome, there are also a lot of Wald's body kits in the pinned topic of LS forum's.

  16. Thanks VMF, The Civic looks very nice in black. It can go up to 150mph with 1.7L engine!!!!! A little more bigger wheels and tires would make the pic perfect. Sorry to hear about the Legend. Its a shame that Honda stopped making them after 95'. RL is good but not the same.
  17. This is what just happened to my LS400 at 147k: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=9818& And, the Transmission Pan Gasket is leaking too. But the mechanic said it is not too much that you have to replace it right now. "Unless you have a lot of $$$ to spare."
  18. I have never driven a AWD. The FWD Acura Legend has a bit of better handling then the RWD LS400. But, I don't want to say that FWD is better in handling than RWD based on just one observation.
  19. The wheels masters would be "Mr. Sypher" or "JPI" here. PM them first. BTW: Thats a very fine car and wheels.
  20. Unless you're trying to pull these bodykits off:

  22. LexusSC300: 1. Did you pull carfax on it yet? 2. What is the private party and retail sales "Kelly Blue Book value" www.kellybluebook.com 3. What about maintance records? Doesn't have to be maintaned by a Lexus dealer! Can someone tell us what the 120k service is? And, if it necessory! [in few sentences] :)
  23. Man, screw that. At the meeting, I would demand to get my car checked by the Lexus dealer or "Else." Maybe, there is something else broken or messed up also; that you never thought of..... One of my friends just purchased a 93' GS300 [without the CD] the radio plays all the speakers perfectly but when he plays a Cassette the driver's side speaker sound is lowered then all the other speakers. He tried cleaning the head of the head unit. So, he takes it to Circuit City; at first the manager tells him that he has to leave so he will look at it tomorrow [in the afternoon] and tells him that there is something wrong with the head unit; so, he drives down there again; then they tell him that there could be something wrong with the head unit or the amp. DAH. Aren't they supppose to fix the problem by: "providing customer service and/or introducing new technology." So, he just left.
  24. mitchbl: What colors are you thinking of using, anyways??
  25. Thats great that everything turned out perfectly and you got to know the cars original price. B)
