  1. "I recently experienced my first real electrical failure of any kind: the driver's door lock actuator died." Mine did too... but we accidentally fixed it. remove it from the car, open it up and clean the two copper contacts and (hopefully)that fixed mine. with the motor out we tested it direct on the battery and it worked perfect, noticed the blackened contacts, cleaned them and it is still working... good luck
  2. Ed, did you see this?99 Lexus LS400 - $5700 (Terre Haute)
  3. Here in the Dallas Texas area, I bought both of my 99's for 6500. many are asking for more, but I just waited.. my last one a few weeks ago wanted 7900. but he took 6500 cash. the mileage was 141 & 161. on them... I also bought a 2000 for my sister-in-law for 10,000. this was about 9 months ago, but it had only 70k on it.
  4. Landar, good to have you back (not that you were gone) but I mean driving a 400.... again. looks like DC sold you a good one....
  5. NO, but I could look and tell.... there will be a few hidden screws that will have to be removed.
  6. with the door panel off, it should be easy to spot the problem......
  7. Hi Landar...... I just put your old struts on my 99, I used poly bushings, might have been a mistake, I (think)notice it hits things harder now (more firm).. time will tell.. give me a comparison 98LS to a 430 likes and dislikes.. here or pm
  8. 92 ls, 250+ hail damage, salvage title..... opinion.. 1000. if you are in an upper tax bracket, it might be worth more to give it to a charity group to reduce your taxes...
  9. I had already done the tranny. I had no symptoms, but I knew they were bad. I am 76, so my nephew put them in, 3 hours. he said the drivers side was hardest. 150 for all is good. I might go ahead and order a set for my other 99.
  10. I bought my mounts on ebay (eurasia_parts), and have had no problems with them, perfect fit. mine were shot:
  11. local wrecking yard might help, or check craigslist for parts cars.
  12. one of my old 95's was a leaker, and I removed the liner also, and the 3 bolts ..my pump was missing, got one from Sewell,, put it in and it didnt work, took it out, returned it to Sewell for refund, put it back together, carried it to the auto auction and sold it. no more problem..... it was the gray one..
  13. that was for ADDING a key, to reprogram the 98 & up key lock/unlock buttons, use this:
  14. From my 272,500 miles experience driving Lexus LS cars, shock absorbers on LS cars usually last over 200,000 miles. Why do you think your car needs new shocks? Usually other suspension parts on these cars wear out far sooner than the shock absorbers. 110,000 miles is a little early for any suspension parts to need replacing except for strut rod bushings which are usually the first suspension component to fail on a 98-00 LS like I have -- not sure if the 95-97 LS is similarly affected. YEP, 95-97 use the same parts as the 98-2000... just replace your "strut rod bushings" or the whole arm assy.
  15. careful, there is a lot of bad ARNOTT post out there.
  16. do a search..... there is tons of info on these subjects.. that is what this forum is for..
  17. thanks man im going to try this because it happens to all my doors they work and then they don't its weird man i spent all day doing this just getting and then finding out theres no copper contacts on a 95 ls400 that tiny motor is just soidered to wires. YES, motor is soldered in, contacts are on the drive wheel.. we melted the solder and took the motor out and tested it, and it worked, then we saw the blackened copper contacts and cleaned them off, put the motor back in, and it worked, and is still working today. Sorry I didnt make myself more clear.... blow the photo up and you can see the copper contacts.. .
  18. Hi, my newest 99 came with only one master key (remote)and no others, and I worry about things like that. So I bought a transponder key of ebay (carkeysolution) for 12.99 shipped, got it today, went to Sewell and they cut it for free (senior day) and I programed it the first time, using this for 1998-2000:
  19. your right... yhis works. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=54448&st=15

  21. ED... I Got my Rotors and ceramic pads from brake overstock (TRW brand) $90 total for each axle. smooth as satin... You can call them at (888) 441-8808 or e-mail at: brakeoverstock@gmail.com TRW has been around for many years....
  22. ANDY.... now THAT was very interesting, I have filed this info away in my Lexus file.. thanks.
  23. find another mechanic...... it takes FUEL, SPARK, at the proper TIME, with compression, to make an engine run. PERIOD. HE should be able to MAKE sure all are present and if one is missing, find out why???? IF when you ran COMPLETELY hot, you blew a head gasket, your compression could be moving out when the piston is coming up..... my thoughts....curiousB gave you VITAL information.. did you follow thru?
  24. or...... take a different route...
