  2. Unless the point was that a bad thing happening to us gives us carte blanche to wage war against anyone we want, even if they had no involvement in the bad thing that happened to us then he didn't miss the point at all. Ok, one last time. You managed to miss the point as well. The assumption you make is that Bush knowingly lied about the information received from the CIA that he used to justify the invasion of Iraq. The information Bush had at the time indicated the threat originated in Iraq. It is not a matter of what the media feeds us now or even what the evidence is now. Iraq was not invaded the next day. The information at the time was analyzed and actions taken based on that analysis. An innocuous "bad thing" as you offhandedly describe a serious attack on this country is ludicrous. "Carte Blanche to wage war against anyone we want..." is a simplistic overstatement that is beneath your intellect. Hindsight is inappropriate and is the basis for your post. As is the hindsight that the atomic bomb should not have been used on Japan to end WWII. It is the nature of history for it to be rewritten as events unfold and the prejudice of the time influences the authors.
  3. How soon one forgets 9/11/01. That sneak attack had the same gravity as the attack on Pearl Harbor. Surely you wouldn't expect FDR or Bush to simply ignore the events. Neither of those presidents "started" a war. Why would you say I forgot about 9/11, I just mention it on my last post. As far as I know Iraq is not responsible for 9/11. Bush W start a war, Obama is now trying to shift the attention back to Afghanistan to revenge 9/11. Obviously you missed the point. No reason to continue this engagement.

  5. But it took an event like 9/11 for Bush to make a speech with actual content that people would actually listen to, by the way, I think Obama would have given a much better speech in that situation. If you take away that Bush speech and compare the state of the union address between Bush and Obama, one can easily see the difference in mental capacity between the two. Mental capacity or oratory capacity. Off-the-cuff remarks versus teleprompter stimulation of words written by staff. Reagan was a master at communication even as he struggled with Alzheimer's. Don't be fooled by sweet talk.
  6. [\quote name=RX in NC' date='Jan 4 2010, 05:48 AM' post='397453] This vehicle has a timing belt, not a chain. Big, big difference in terms of longevity and being built to last. A chain is always better.... What you're hearing is indeed valve noise. Annoying as hell, but normal.... This is what I was thinking of (taken from an article on the 2010 RX 350 which is the wrong year for the OP): "The highly compact, all-aluminum, chain-driven double overhead camshaft, 24 valve, 3,456cc V6 petrol engine features Dual VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) - an optimized variable intake and exhaust valve timing system- to achieve the perfect balance of high performance with low fuel consumption and emissions."
  7. Some on this site have mentioned the timing chain as a source of this kind of noise. Does the noise go away or become significantly reduced after the car is completely warmed up? Does it go away or change when revved?
  8. The ECM is designed to detune the car in the case of lower octane gas. It should not knock or cause engine damage. However, don't expect to have the same power. It could be a surprise when passing or merging onto the freeway. You'll probably still be able to out-drag a Yugo but watch out for the Volt. :P
  9. Consumer Reports will give you a full list of everything you are looking for. It costs about $20 and you have to be a subscriber. Edmunds.com is another source.

  11. I will look behind the trim panel. Only the all wheel drive is available with TO this year and mine is a front wheel drive. I have the correct convertor box, just don't know where to put it! Was going to pay the dealer until they told me they weren't sure where it goes either so thought I would try it myself instead of paying the $90hr shop fee. Thanks for the info. Try another dealer for the install if you can. Without the tow option package the install is a nightmare according to others on this site. Don't know personally. The other issue is the greatly reduced tow capacity for non-TO vehicles. From what you list as being towed it shouldn't be a problem but don't be tempted to push it.
  12. If it is like the 08 RX try this post: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=39543
  13. Got my notice in the mail last week. Limited Service Campaign (LSC) 9LH. For RX 350s with the V6(2GR-FE) engine with Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence (VVT-1) oil hose replacement. Good until March 31, 2013.
  14. The consensus is that slotted is good, drilled is for racing - not for street. Had slotted and they didn't seem to make any difference except for looks. Do a search for more opinions.
  15. It is very difficult to diagnose where a noise originates in a moving vehicle. Do a search of this site using "noise" and you will soon agree.
  16. Could you elaborate on the rattling noise? I have a rattle when I go over bumps, but it sounds like it's coming from the passenger side somewhere (almost like the rear passenger side). I removed the tonneau cover completely to no avail. It's driving me crazy! Thanks Try securing the clips that hold the luggage cover near the rear door. Lock them into place. It is a well known issue and the dealer even mentioned it when I bought my RX.
  17. What about when the tires are rotated? Does the sensor then sense the distance from the sensor to the tire to decide which tire is low? How about the spare which is usually between the two rear tires? It would seem that the sensor would have to be able to sense radio waves within a couple of inches if the sending unit is inside the tire.
  18. If you restarted after driving a while the tires may have heated up enough to raise the pressue beyond the light's trigger point. Colder weather will reduce the pressue enough for the light to go on. The tires should be checked monthly anyway. The TPMS can be reset to whatever you like. Do a search for posts on the procedure. Don't forget to check the spare since it is monitored as well.
  19. For question #1, I'd recommend a Consumers' Report print out for around $20. The report lists everything available, the MSRP, and the invoice price. That amount of knowledge puts you in a strong position. Also, remember that invoice price already includes a hidden 5% dealer profit. For the other questions, I defer to those with deeper knowledge.
  20. That has been my experience as well. Goes on easy, wipes to a gloss easy, lasts a looong time if Ice car wash is used. Did I mention it was easy? That fact alone make it more likely to be used often and keeps the car consistently looking better. Others are willing to put in hours to make their car's finish look nice and more power to them.
  21. Hmmm... One of your posts lauded the Ice car wash. Has something changed?
  22. I like it. Bought it at Costco for cheap. Have been using it for a couple of years. Get ready for the negative feedback from other members. Do a search and you'll find it discussed in other threads. I tried searching the form but I kept getting this message even when I typed "Turtle Wax Ice"........The error returned was: One or all of your search keywords were below 4 characters or you searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please go back and increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords. Ok well I'm sorry some words are not allowed? So now I just tried "turtle" and it worked. Who knew? Yes, the search enging on LOC is not the best. Or at least not the most cooperative and intuitive. It can be a pain at times. For instance "oil" is always a topic of interest but it fails the 4 charictar barrier. There are several others: "key", "car", "RX", etc. come immediately to mind.
