  1. Guys, seriously? A/F and oxygen sensors are entry level. Anyway, Bank1 refers to the side of the engine that contains cylinder1(in this case, left side, towards front of vehicle). Bank2 refers to the side of the engine that contains cylinder2(in this case, right side, towards rear of vehicle). I got you a section of Lexus repair manual for a 2001 ES300. Otherwise, the code is the same for most models/years. Don't over analyze it, though. This code means you need the sensor. Thanks for the reply. So this is not bank 2, sensor 1: Sorry dude, I got that backwards. Bank2 is towards the front, Bank1 is towards the rear. NP. You wouldn't happen to know the part number for that sensor? I have a bunch of part numbers that lexus gave me; 89467-41040, 89467-41030, 89465-06020, 89465-3. Are they all the same just for different banks/sensors, thus the different numbers? P.S. I sent you a PM Death

  3. I'm sorry to bump an old thread, but I have code 1155 on my 2001 ES coming up. Lexus dealer said it is bank 2, sensor 1, but the mechanic himself was even a little confused on which bank triggers code 1155. The mismatches information discussed here is not comforting. Does anyone know exactly which sensor is the problem with code 1155? If not, then which sensor has the longer cable whereby allowing me to installing it for either bank?
  4. Sorry to bump this up, but were you able to maintain the use of those two small speakers? I've got an aftermarket headunit in where I wired up the front and rear RCA's but It's difficult to tell if mine are playing.
  5. yesi can modify it to work with any pioneer p series headunit which avic n seires are pseries ibus for changer which means there is a blue 10 pin squarish port on the avic brain to plug in a changer. heres pictures of the changer with the pioneer pcb board changed to work on aftermarket pioneer, the headunit under the changer is pioneer pbus just like avic ni n2 n3 d1 d2. the lexus changer was made in japan not third world countries like the new pioneer aftermarket changers which means many years of high end cd music. Sorry to bump this, but can such be done with an Avic X710BT? It's still a pioneer and I'd like to install it in my '01 ES with the stock 6 disc Pioneer changer.
  6. Just wanted to say thanks for this thread. I'm seriously considering different units to install in my '01 ES. This thread has some great information. I'm still daunted by the wiring but it seems that's pretty well covered by these, http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=70-8113 http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=LS2081B I think I've figured out the wiring for audio. The wire harness that comes with the D3 plugs into the 70-8113 which wires into the stock plug. In regards to powering the AVIC, how does that work?
  7. It's getting warmer now and I'm getting my summer list together for what to be on the lookout for at junk yards. One of the first things I'm gonna be looking for are OEM 3rd Gen (2000/2001) ES300 HID Headlight assemblies. I realize the chances of finding these in a junk yard are very unlikely, but if they I do happen to come across them my main question is what should I expect to pay considering the following conditions: * They're from a ten year old car (I'll rub some dirt on them to make them look more dated) * I'll say they're basic, halogen assemblies (I figure it's pretty unlikely they'll be able to tell the difference by quickly looking at them. Also assuming it's a big yard that deals with many vehicles per day of both domestic and foreign and that they won't be too familiar with this gen of ES). * I'll say they're from a Camry (cheaper car = cheaper price for the part rationale. They look similar enough to a Camry headlight assembly.) * I pull the assemblies from the junked ES myself, should save some money there. So taking these mitigating factors into account, whats the cheapest you think I can get away with these HID headlight assemblies?
  8. If anyone does happen to reply or even read this, I did a lot more research on the topic today and came to a more sound conclusion. It seems I should stick with one of the better brands such as Hella, Osram or Philips. I see some pretty high prices for all, but found what seems like a decent price of $270 for a Philips kit at 4300k, which I realized is actually the type I want (looking for a pure white look). Here it is, http://www.hidxenonlights.com/lexus-lexus-...rsion-kit-p-195
  9. Out of curiosity, if you depress the brake pedal, let up on the pedal and then depress the pedal again do the brakes respond differently the second time? Yeah, I tried pumping the brakes a few times and it alleviated the spongy brakes somewhat.
  10. Thanks for the replies guys. I think I should mention that I did thoroughly inspect the car and it is MINT. 1 owner, 65k miles, rear seats look like they have never been sat in. Tires and brakes are brand new as well. Everything functions flawlessly and it looks like it was very well taken care of. Before this I had a 93 Cadillac Seville. There were many issue's with it, most of which I fixed by visiting either VIP or the salvage yard, so I am familar with issue's that arise with age and condition. I knew what to look at on this car when I bought it, far from going in blind, and I came to the sound conclusion this ES was a sure win. I spoke with sales manager and it happens to be that his son graduated from the same college as that I attend, and that there won't be an issue when I bring in the car to have the brakes bled and the spongy pedal checked on. I won't be able to have the car brought in for about a week, but I will post back with the results. Thanks for the help.
  11. i've researched the installation process and it seems like something I could complete in an hour or so. I guess my question now is which of the many kits ranging from $100 to upwards of $250 are the best to go with and also whether or not I should get new headlight housings. I'm thinking of going with 8000k HID's if that helps.
  12. Thanks for the reply. So what should I be expecting them to do, bleed the brakes to remove the air and dirty fluid from the system and replace it with clean fluid and as a result significantly reduce the spongy pedal?
  13. Just picked up a fantastic, low milage 2001 ES300. Everything is fantastic on the car, with one major concern. The brakes on the car are very spongy and it takes more depression of the pedal than I would have expected to stop the car at a normal distance and pace. I don't think my observation is subjective either, other people I've had try the brakes agree that they are very spongy and require considerable depression to result in slowing down of the car. Is this just the way this generation or year of ES300's were built, or does it sound like something is wrong here? I have a 60 day 100% parts and labor garruntee so if you think somethings wrong I wanna move on this right away and get it taken care of. Much thanks
  14. I imagine this is a somewhat common topic. I just got a 2001 ES300 in incredible condition and absolutely love the car...but the headlights suck compared to our 2003 ES300's Xenon headlights. I looked around and have seen some kits to convert to xenon headlights but I'm not sure which is quality and will work well on my car. Can someone recommend a good xenon conversion kit for this purpose on a 2001 ES300, if possible one that they have personally used and can atest to? Please provide me with any information you can in this process of upgrading, including bulb brands and whatever accessories I'll need to do the conversion, and also a ballpark idea of what I should expect to be spending. It also seems from reading around that I should get new lightbulb housings as the halogen ones don't work well with the HID xenon headlights. How should I go about this? Basically, if someone could explain what to purchase and the process involved in installing the lights I'd be much appreciated. Much Thanks
  15. Sorry to have not posted back sooner, been busying with end of semester papers and five finals. Anyhow, your posts have NOT been in vain. I have found a very nice ES300 and am going to take a serious look at it in person this Saturday. Low mileage, one owner, all options minus a CD changer. I'm pretty excited to say the least. Which brings me to my next and really preemptive question; It seems from the listing that the car is wired for the 6 disc CD changer which was optional on the 97-01 ES300, but on this particular vehicle is was not installed although the dash has the buttons for CD functions. Doing just a bit of simple research it seems that it was a Pioneer unit that was installed in the glove box for that generation. If the car is indeed lacking one I would like to install the unit. Is it a simple job whereby I just "plug and play" plus a few screws, or is it more complicated? I guess I also need to find out whether the car was fitted for the base Pioneer or the upgraded Nakamachi unit. I'd also like to put in an automatic garage door opener unit, the type that is fitted for the car, a Homelink model is the correct one I believe. I looked all over online but can't find a single one, which I find to be unbelievable. Could someone point me towards one, otherwise I'd need to sift through junk yards. Lastly, I want to direct wire my radar detector. On my current Cadillac I spliced and soldered into the power line for the garage door opener, which provided adequate power supply and a good location for the detector (up near the rear view mirror). On these Lexus's, whats the best source to tap into, garage door opener, sunroof etc. and how difficult is it going to be pulling down the padding up there to get at the wires (would hate to split or crack the molding on it right away)? Much thanks. I will report back Saturday.
