  1. This might give us a clue as to his whereabouts: Maybe he's found that woman and has forgotten about us ... ;) I remember him describing a reluctance to bounce his bones down the road on a stiff suspension with low profile tires ... maybe he's found a better way to bounce his bones! :whistles: Happy B-day Ralph and enjoy whatever it is you're doing!
  2. I think you need a sign at the back telling everyone that "I'M HERE!", otherwise they just might not see you? You know things come in threes? So I'd be looking for the next one for a while. Here's an idea, go out and do #3 yourself to get it over with. This way you can plan it, make it minor and minimize the damage! :P Years ago, those rear mounted spares stopped me from getting either the Rav4 or the CRV. Can get banged easily anywhere, in a parking lot, stopped at a light, in line for a coffee, etc. Betcha there's only few marks on the F150. I'd be thankful that your two incidents are only minor fender benders, so I'd say you're lucky after all.
  3. Yeah, thats what I kept telling myself when I was trying to get the reservoir off. I come very close to poking a hole in the screen. That reservoir was a PITB to get off.... if I had of had hands as small as cats paws, it would have been OK. I honestly dont know if I will be able to get it back on. Sad thing is I dont think the screen was clogged. I think the pump is shot, but puzzles me that it dont growl or make a noise. "If I didn't have bad luck ..... " Murphy's become your buddy! :chairshot: Don't be pokin' no holes and git yurself sum bettr flashlites n toolz (sorry bout that - some leftover spelling probs from the last post - hard to change back - omg, might be stuck in here! :P ... Nah, everythings ok now, just tooka big breath and the sky turned blue). Good pics anyway, except for the last one ... looks kinda depressing. Look at it this way, you have the makings for another tutorial! We're going to have to start calling you "the Professor"! Just curious, have you pressure tested the system? Btw, if your hands are too big, you can always presoak them in some icewater to shrink them a bit! :whistles: ... of course they might work a bit slower! In that case, just drink the icewater instead, it'll keep you cool while you're working. ;)
  4. Me thinks my man "mo betta" Ro be want'n more MUSCLE CAR than Lexus car. Think'n NASCAR. Think'n Impala SS, Pontiac Catalina 2+2 w 400+cid, Ford Galaxie w 390+cid, Dodge Coronet R/T, Olds 442, Ford Torino GT, or a Grand National, like this one: Btw, here's some interesting reading, a comparison of a 1969 Buick GS 400 vs. 2000 Lexus GS 400: http://www.musclecarclub.com/musclecars/ge...mparison4.shtml This one is especially insightfull and very useful for anyone who's undecided about what kind of car to buy: http://www.musclecarclub.com/musclecars/ge...mparison1.shtml :P So Ro, we be heer, wait'n on yor pix! Make'm gud n make'm pleny!
  5. But seriously, yo my man "mo betta" Ro, around here, talk is cheap. They're not going to let up, especially if you post up a bit different from everyone else. You give attitude, you'll get it back for sure! Sometimes it's better to just introduce yourself, then start your build and update the club on your progress. As they say, "Proof is in the pudding"! You want to shut'm up and put'm in their place, don't bother responding to these posts with words, do it with pics! Pics of how you're actually doing what you said you were planning to! You show the club that you're serious and start discussing the technical aspects of an engine swap, etc, and you'll definitely get members here offering you good advice and help with your project! Mentioning is a good start. You already got a beer out of the deal! :P
  6. Actions speak louder than words. You can say "i'm not cocky" all day long but when it came to it...the "cockyness" showed itself... Could it be true? Me thinks we need to hear from Ro!
  7. Time to bring this thread back to life ...
  8. IS ANYONE OUT THERE????? Nice to see someone interested in starting a new build! Good choice to pass on the nos. Everything you would want to know and more ... http://www.clublexus.com/forums/performanc...maintenance-33/ ... keep us updated on your project.
  9. Hey Ro, get yo "mo betta" !Removed! into a canyon cruiser like this one ... that'll make those pesky hondas run for the hills!
  10. To answer your question, some swear you can't fix a faulty injector or get any sort of performance change from an injector service. Others swear the opposite. Personally I think you can condition the injectors to prevent them from failing, but as 007 mentions, if they're seriously blocked or rusted, replacement is the only cure. In Canada, premium fuel doesn't contain ethanol. Top tier premium also contains detergent additives which eliminates the need for using injector cleaners. A lot of members here have used seafoam. Do a search and read up to decide for yourself if it's something you want to do. Amsoil makes a cleaner. So does Redline, Chevron Techron and others. How effective they are you will have to research for yourself again. Careful with the old "miracle in a bottle". Often it's more like "Trouble in a bottle"! An injector prob could be as simple as some bad rubber o-rings which are cheap. Injectors, however, are expensive to replace. As for testing, if you had a scope you could check the duty cycle. There are also fuel injector testers that blink when the injector cycles. Parts shops might have them. Don't know how well they work though. Believe it or not you can take a long screwdriver and hold it up against the injector. You can actually feel it pulsating or vibrating as it opens and closes. If you put your ear up to the end of the screwdriver you can also hear it. You can also do this to listen to your valves (old mechanic's trick). You can get your injectors tested for less than $8 ea at a good shop, don't know how much your dealer would charge. You could also get your injectors ultrasonically cleaned, balanced/blueprinted so that all of your injectors are flowing at the same rate with new pintle caps, o-rings and filter baskets at about ~$16/injector. That's a lot cheaper than new injectors. Again, evaluate whether your injectors need this service or would benefit from it before spending your money. Here's a link to one shop that does this service: http://witchhunter.com/. Not sure of their prices.
  11. Still lookin' great....except for that left rear wheel!! :P I love your dog too; she's beautiful! Yep, and the headlamp washers too. Yeah, it was on there while I was getting a flat repaired ... didn't want to wait, so I just dropped it off to pick up later. Funny thing about the washers ... never use them, don't drive it in the winter or through construction sites. Once in a while I'll give them a shot to keep the lines clean, but that's it. Btw, don't know if the nozzles are heated or just the fluid, but I know somethings heated because of the steam I see when I've used them in cold weather. As for Chelsea, she's got just the greatest disposition and thinks everyone is a friend. We're lucky to have her. As for racing an LS, not me, but I did have ideas of converting the Volvo by raising her, putting on skid plates and mudders so I could take her into the dirt. lol. Decided if I want to go back to flattening tree stumps, I'll get myself a dirt bike instead.
  12. Thanks Alan Not sure if you're referring to Chelsea, but just in case you are, she's bred on English lines. They call her color "pale cream". Here are a couple more pics of my sweety:
  13. Even without Trac Control, if you're riding snow tires, you should be able to feather the throttle enough to prevent spinning and sliding. I would make sure your front brakes aren't dragging. It doesn't take much to affect your traction in the snow. I think he implied that he does not have snow tires. I don't know, she did say "They are snow tires." So maybe I'm just not understanding her correctly.
  14. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't 0 = nothing? So if it's either one or the other, then the option is ...? Haven't heard of this one before ... losing an engine because it doesn't start ..... ? Just a thought, but maybe start over and give us some history of how you got to this state and what tests you've done since experiencing your probs. You've got members here willing to help you, but not really given enough comprehensive details! Start over, go slow and describe as much and as best as you can.

  16. Unfortunately, this lead has gone cold and the person is not even returning phone calls after a few days and leaving a voicemail... lame. Well there goes your broker's fee! :P
  17. I hear ya, but I think you'd do better bang'n w the hondas in an IS. Check out the IS section and in particular some of smooth1's mod threads.
  18. Congrats on the new ride! That's the SC I was looking for! lol. Nice work all around. Always good to see a well planned build! Too bad about the screen res but nice touch with the apple tv! Good to see that kind of attention to detail. Good post. Enjoy! I know you will.
  19. Agreed. Make sure there are no leaks, especially if the calipers were bled. Also check the lines to the calipers for cracks/bulges/leaks. They might have been stressed during service.
  20. Was just on there. The diags are back. Guess we'll just have to keep tabs on this situation. Maybe download any diags you might need while they're available!
  21. Welcome to the club jaycin! I think 007 is onto a possibility with the ecu and cold start system. Staying with this thought, I'm thinking the cold start injector might be on too long and flooding the engine. This could be as a result of a malfunctioning injector switch or timer in the ecu. Another possibility is your injectors may have become somewhat restricted when cold, causing a lean out condition during warmup and thus your idling probs during the open loop phase. Once warmed up, they operate normally. You could also have similar symptoms with an overly rich condition where the injectors have developed a poor spray pattern and aren't atomzing the fuel correctly, causing the fuel not to burn properly. Pulling a plug as 007 suggests could reveal if this condition might be present. You could also pull an injector and bench flow test it.
  22. All the time, 'lurch' is slightly lessened when engine warm, as it's at ~800 RPM vs. ~1600. Your tranny mounts may need replacing, but high revs are likely the reason for the tranny jumping into gear. An engine at operating temps should be idling at ~650 rpm. Check your throttle cable - may be sticking or need adjustment. If the shifts are smooth once you're under way, you fluid level is likely fine (check anyway). Also make sure you use your pkg brake if your on an incline, otherwise this would also cause your symptoms.
