  1. i loaned my brother my digital camera for him to use on vacation, but when he gets back with it i'll post a pic.
  2. you can buy a rear retractable shade for any car. you can find them sometimes on ebay, yes you can install it yourself
  3. i had that same type of problem on my LS some time ago i did i thorogh cleaning of the throttle body and added some injector cleaner PROBLEM SOLVED!! :D so do just like UCF3 said, thats great advice ;)
  4. yes 99 its wood. i have a buddy that ownes a company called Presidential Conversions, in Fayetteville, Ar, where i'm originally from, and i had him put on the wood steering wheel, but left, or somehow molded the center part with the horn and the L badge back on there to look stock. i need to go back up there and have him do my shifter as well. B)
  5. IMO i wouldn't mess with trying to DIY that type of job. especially on a 99. the reason being, you have to get the right seal in there to prevent leaking and such. some other members might have a different oppinion about this.
  6. welcome :) you can buy chrome emblems and wheels centers @ www.lexus-parts.com also, try ebay you can find those same parts on there for a lot cheaper. good luck
  7. thanks Agent 99, I appreciate that buddy i did use the orbital buffer, and it worked out very well, it got out the light scratches, and there isn't a swirl or cobweb in sight :D but partially i think the credit goes to the products, that Color X is awesome in getting rid of swirls and cobbs, and light scratches i just worked it in with the buffer. -the Show Car Glaze is awesome as well, it really made the car look wet and was very mirror like, i could see details on my face after is was done. also it brought out the metalic emerald green flakes in the paint, shines like brand new :D its funny b/c some of my co-workers seemed to think my car was black when i always showed them it was dark green, but after this they said WOW it is emerald green.
  8. well denny, there are a lot of general browsers and guests on this forum, i just didn't want to take a chance ya know yes i used the quik detail spray, it was really easy and didn't take much time, i've too heard about soapy water i'm sure it works the same, as the clay just needs some lubricant to do its job so it doesn't stick. i'm aware that many people don't use meguiar's products, and most use the collinite you are refering too, but i like meguiar's waxes and especially the new nxt. maybe some day i will switch. :D
  9. forgot to add 1 Wash/dry-Meguiar's care wash/california water blade/shim 2 Magic clay bar/quik detail solution 2 Meguiar's Color X (buffer) 3 #7 Meguiar's Show car Glaze (buffer) 4 Meguiar's NXT polymer wax (hand) This whole process took about 6 hours. and was well worth it
  10. yeah for sure, i stare at my reflection everyday, i have tags i just covered them up for the picture, so no weirdo's have my tag #
  11. Denny, i use my right foot to gas and to brake. you are right that race car drivers use both feet to brake/gas. you can see that sometimes on nascar when they do the in-car cam. i would think that would take some time getting used to, akward at first. but hey what ever is most comfortable to you :D
  12. i have a little advice don't put BMW wheels on you lexus the tires that would fit are 205/65/15
  13. sorry for all the consecutive posts, i forgot to do the big pics so you all can see more of the detail
  14. after full 5 step paint detail. --notice the deep luster and shine of the paint.
  15. dirty clay bar after used on only the left side --WoW!!!
  16. this pic was taken at my warehouse/storage building this weekend left side clay bar process, right side untouched --notice the oxidation on the lower right side
  17. All the wheels are interchangeable i believe. i have 99 LS wheels on my 92. i've seen IS wheels on a LS, as well as GS wheels on an LS. i've also seen IS wheels on an SC. your best bet for a good deal is ebay for sure. just keep your eyes peeled, and when you find a good deal close on it.
  18. denny, you could always put one of those trucker cup holders that fit on the window sill. ha ha j/k
  19. blake. there have been a ton of topics related to best oil ect.... do a search i've always used mobile 1, and my car has over 100k
  20. hey VMF can we move the throttle body cleaning tutorial to the workshop? it keeps coming up over and over again.
  21. first- make sure all of your interior lights are turned off second- if you have an aftermarket stereo head unit, if the pwr wire isn't hooked up right that will cause it to drain the batter, that happened in my brothers car once. if you do have an aftermarket stereo try turning the head unit off when you shut the car off. make sure all of your battery connections are clean and tight.
  22. hey guys just starting a general topic What kind of Shades do you all prefer while cruzin in the ole Lexi? B) i currently am sporting some Maui Jim Wailea, i love them they weigh 10 grams and have memorized metal, meaning u can bend them any way you want and they go back to straight, pretty cool before this pair is was sporting revo pythons, they were ok i guess
  23. i agree with trying to update the older LS like mine, man they can still look brand new, no one ever thinks my car is a 92 model i've put LS400 badges on it as well as 99 LS wheels, like the ones Agent 99 has. and i just ordered the chrome grille kit i think 2 days ago. i'm excited to put it on for sure.
  24. nice job blake..... the car has a really deep luster to it, ya know. keeping black (or in my instance dark green)cars clean and w/o swirls and cobb webbing is very very hard. but like Agent 99 said. the more you clean and detail your car, the better and better it looks over time, and i'm a strong beleiver in that. i wash my car by hand at least once a week, and probably take it to the self car wash probably twice a week. you know you take your care for what its worth, if you care enough about it you want to make her look the best you can at all times, i think thats what separates us from the average. PRIDE!! :D
  25. i had that same typle of deal happend with rpms at a stop a while ago, but it never died i believe you have already done this VMF, but i replaced my ingnition wires, and the problem was fixed, it was a simple as that but like i said i remeber u doing the whole nine, plugs, wires, dist.cap, rotars, ect...
