  1. u could use 225 60 16 if its a 16 inch wheel.
  2. ebay would probably be the cheapest place u could get them, if u can find them that is. i've seen center caps on there quite a few times though. i believe u can just buy them straight up at www.lexus-parts.com.
  3. even better. thanks Tan. thats a cool site.
  4. just a guess but i believe they will not. i think the 90-92 use 15 inch wheels and the 93 models use the 16 inch wheel, therefore i don't think they would fit, or match. but thats just my guess, i'm sure someone else can give u an exact answer.
  5. thanks so much mapman. that is a very helpful site. found just what i needed. thankyou
  6. Hey guys. i recently put 16 inch 99LS rims on my 92LS which had 15's. my question is with the bigger wheels how off is the speedometer going to be, and lastly how much will these bigger wheels effect my calculation of gas mileage? i know its not going to effect the actual gas mileage but just figuring out how many miles i get to the gallon, ie....the trip odemeter, + or -
  7. oh ok. yeah like swo3es said all ls rims are interchangeable. you can see the 99 rims on my 92 in the gallery, i think the pictures are on the last couple of pages in the gallery.
  8. do you have a picture??? what rims are you refering to. i have 99 LS rims on my 92 LS, they fit perfect, and make the car handle twice as good.
  9. have you had a recent tune-up. i had a similer problem, where the rpm's would surege in neutral and in park with the engine running. i changes the plugs and it did nothing then i changed the ignition wires and it fixed the problem. give that a shot.
  10. i've been calling leather upholstry people all week asking them about restoring dried out and cracked leather. and i've been hearing a lot that there is nothing u can really do to fix it. some products may help a little but it will never be fully restored to soft leather. anyway thats just my finding. kind of disapointing to be honest as i need someting to help my leahter out. a lot of them also said that saddle soap is good, but i haven't tried that
  11. congrats on your purchase. you will love it, its the smoothest ride ever and you will really realize that after driving the LS daily and then getting in another car. about the oil i just use mobil 1 i don't think you can go wrong with that.
  12. yeah i'm sorry, your model probably doesnt' have that switch. my Ls has a little switch by the dash light knob on the left side that you can turn the remote on and off with. You might just have to reprogram ur key fob.
  13. thanks 99. so u have the conical air filter that fits in the oem box?? the good thing about the K&N filter is that u can use it forever with the recharger kit. so it could save u money in the long run as well as a little better performance and gas mileage i assume. This doesn't apply to the LS but i had a 97 Eclipse turbo with an ice-man cold air intake that used the conical filter, and let me tell u when i creaped that think up to 3K RPM and then stomped it it screamed like a scalded ape. i mean it was loud, u could here the air sucking in for about 3 blocks away, but that was also with a 4 cylinder engine, i don't think the V8 would make that kinda sound, nor do i want that kind of sound coming from a lexus.
  14. when you say you have a K&N air filter. do you mean the filter that fits in the factory air box, or the cone filter that u attach to the intake hose and you have to remove the stock air box? i was actually looking for a cone filter for better breathing, but i haven't seen one for an LS. i also wandered if you remove the stock air box and put the cone on if that would mess up the computer in some way in reference to air/fuel. and cause the car to die or idle low.
  15. try replacing the battery in the remote. if its old its probably getting weak, therefore working on and off. also make sure the switch on the dash for the remote is turned on.
  16. i had a similer problem some months ago when i disconected the battery to do some regular maintence ie...headlight bulbs, plugs, ect.....when i got everthing back together and tried start the car all i heard was click click click. i initially thought it was my starter but on closer inspection it was just the battery, it didn't have enough juice to start the car for whatever reason. to make a long story short i just replaced the battery and it fired right up.
  17. update.....exotic wood just emailed my back about the wood trim piece for the shifter and she quoted me 79 dollars!!! just for the little shifter piece.WOW
  18. this might help.. i had that same kind of problem when the car shifted. it started out to be a kind of vibration and then started to make a popping sound when the tranny shifted, so thought for sure the tranny was going out so i took it to my mechanic and i turned out to my fortune that it was just a 15 dollar rubber bushing that went out on the differential mount in the rear end. so when the car torqued it was hitting metal on metal.i had the bushing replaced for a total of about 40 bucks, and the problem ceased. haven't heard it sense. about the vibration problem,,my car is a 92 with 140k on it and drives like a dream, the only problem i've had with the drivability or comfort of the ride was the bushing. also in my oppinion comparing a honda to a lexus is like comparing apples to oranges---they are both cars and both fruits
  19. thanks... i emailed exotic wood dash trims to ask them is they could just sell the wood trim piece for the shifter. but i guess they haven't had a chance to get back with me. i've found that thats probably the best best for upgrading the look of a gen 1 shifter becasue with the shifter button and the o/d button it seems its hard to find a fit. and if i just had the little wood trim piece it would definately look a 100 times better
  20. Hey guys i've been all over the net trying to find information on the champane colored tint i've seen on some of the LS's. its not dark at all, actually u can see right through it, its kinda of maybe transparent gold or something. i saw the tint on a 98-2000 light green colored LS, and thought it was really classy looking. and what i was trying to figure out is if it was stained glass from the factory or an actual tint you can purchase. it kinda resembles the blueish tint that mercedes has but only its champange colored. if anyone knows what i'm talking about please add ur 2 cents. thanks
  21. i am also very interested in upgrading the interior i've been looking all over for a woodgrain shifter nob that will fit the automatic oem T shape, with no luck. i just got off the phone with american stitches and they charge like 450 to do the steering wheel!! thats rediculous. i also asked them about the wood and leather combination for the shifter nob, and they don't do the wood for the shifter they can just reupholster it and they wanted $150 to do that!! i was kind of excited when i went to the website but after i heard the prices i'm back to square 1. i'm still on the prowl ha ha.
  22. u can find center caps on www.lexus-parts.com
  23. yeah you could do all of that or you could push the pwr button and just turn the phone off. thats how i have mine and i won't beep at all
  24. I agree with the above. i had the same light stay on on my LS, checked the brake fluid and it was just about 1/4 an inch low. so i put more in it and sure enough the light went off. some of the sensors in the car are extremely sensitive.
  25. i have the dunlop sp. 225 60 16 and i like em a lot. i put rims off of a 99 ls on my 92 and got some of the wider dunlops to fit. and it corners so much tighter. the grip is much more prevelant. they are pretty good in the rain also. but with any high powered rear wheel drive car u have to be carefull in the rain getting sideways and such. haven't tested on snow or ice, i park it in that kinda weather. to dangerous
