  1. a shot in the dark........ But maybe your drains from the sunroof are plugged; and the water is backing up and running into the trunk area???????? you can get some bailing wire and run down the drain lines from the sunroof to clear out..... Good Luck!
  2. texas, My anti - theft code wasn't set....................I've changed the battery with no problems........... But I'll remember this little bit of info forever!! Thanks!!!
  3. 95LS, excellent diagnostic!!! I'm staying tuned!! :D
  4. That's probably in the ball park........ I think the Lexus dealer would do it for that, though........ ;)
  5. It's a shame to be have trouble like this........you've paid a good sum for the automobile - and you deserve the "red carpet". ;) let us know how it ends!!
  6. Agree Silver!!!!! I"ve got a few maintenance procedures with photos - OIL, Tranny, Diffy on MS Word files rarin' to go............
  7. Well said Texas!!!!!!! It's sooooooooooo logical isn't it: you press the button DOWN to put the window down.... you press/lift the button UP to put the window up........ and nobody gets hurt.............. But good old GM is too CHEAP and arcaic to change their 30-40 year old design Their cars are junk (although with a few exception) - they know it; and we know it.
  8. jg, you've got the right operation going there........its a pain but a good way to go. After that flush, just do a pan drain every 10k and your fluid should stay clean for a long time...
  9. Mine's under the passenger seat....... Is that what you found out?
  10. That is one LOW, LOW mile 95 LS So that's why they're wanting the big bucks. The 60K service is nothing but filters & fluids - so its a cheapie for the dealer to do. Tires cost them nothin... Ball joints maybe $200..... Did they mention anything about the Timing Belt / water pump / etc.....? So, although it'd cost you a bunch, these repairs aren't a big deal or cost to them. It is also very typical. They won't CPO the car because its too old, but they're doing similar maintenance to put a good show on.......Lexus does want an up to date serviced car when they sell it - its what the do - and it's a good thing. Check the papers for similar year LS's to get a "real world buying price"....
  11. Ball Joint wear is consistent with the "wander" problems you have... That bushing is the lower suspension arm - definately in the ballpark for wear & replacement. DId the alignment guys say anything about them or check??
  12. ps leaks are a common problem with older LS's........ Run a search with those keywords, including PS Rack, and you'll find a lot of information.... What year is your LS?
  13. Bob is correct!!! Those strut rod bushings do wear and "clunk" metal to metal.........
  14. I do the same thing SRK Blake, I had an indep. shop change mine @ 60K for $75 - well worth the money due to the mess. I watched the guy and gas was draining all over - He did a great job, was careful about the fuel lines, etc. The filter was dirty - and he agreed it was about time. I haven't noticed any difference in the way the LS runs. Now, you know me, I think any filter & any fluids should be changed out regularly. So I'll probably do this again - but it's only needed every 60K according to my manual. Every Lexus dealer is different. the fuel filter replacement is part of the 60K service on my vehicle - and the local dealer lists it on the service........I guess it's not everywhere though---------isn't this strange I think your okay............. I wonder if that dealership changed one out and had problems? You know, like the fuel lines busted, the car had more fuel related problems due to the error - cost them a lot of $$$ and time, etc...... I did get my car inspected at the dealer last summer - and had a great experience just like you. Nice waiting room, drank a million pepsi's!!!!, they walked me to the car and gave me the keys - the red carpet for sure!!
  15. He'll probably need 225/60 - 16's.........
  16. THere is an oil pressure switch underneath the oil filter. More than likely it has developed some "sludge" in in over the years. If the problem persists........I"d take it in for another oil change and while the pan is drained- unscrew the pressure switch and clean it; or replace emtirely. You don't need to change the oil filter........just replace with fresh oil.
  17. good point there Silvermate :D that reminds me of another area: do a check on those Tie-Rod ends.........those are what connects the PS Rack to the wheels (lower ball joint assembly) so if they've got "play" in them.....you'll get a shimmy / wiggle.
  18. 92 lex, I'll think you'll be in pretty good shape based on your collection. I'm a torque wrench nut - so that's my most valuabel tool(s). Everything to spec ...........you'll need a 3/8" amd 1/2" t-wrench for sure.... Keep a 1-1 1/2" dia iron pipe about 2 ft long handy for a serious "breaker bar" aid....in case you need the leverage. I'd make sure I had another car to drive while the LS is down.............
  19. I think you should try texuslexus94 diag on the ac.... Either way........you'll could spend $1k to get her fixed up a little........then you have a worn suspension anyway....... Put it in the paper for $3 grand and see if you can bread even
  20. 90ls..... I think your tires could be the culprit. When you turn, the outside tire will rotate faster - and if they are cupped pretty well, I could see it causing a little "shimmy". Lack of solid contact over the width of the tire. Sounds reasonable!!!
  21. I don't know about the rx330's......... but I did test drive a 2000 rx300 and was unimpressed......actually thought it's a pretty shoddy SUV......the rx330 needs to be much better ;) That Kia could be okay........is it a Soreno or something??
  22. I don't know what years they started on...... but they are on the right front and right rear calipers. They snap in place on the the inside pad and have current. It is not a big deal to unhook them; but you should pay attention and be careful about it. You unsnap them remove the old pad.......put on new pad and resnap......
  23. Ditto VBDenny and 1990LS400...........
