  1. acw, Thanks - its the LCD assembly that is going bad for me ; and... Like you say, while your in there, might as well get the LED's too (backlights) Looks like the $150 for Mikado to do the LCD assembly is the way to go.... Good Info!!!
  2. acw, Does the "sodering" of the resistor(s) help bring back the LED's at all? My LED's for the Radio/CD/Min/Sec display are missing several "segments"........ Or does the LED unit just basically fail over time? Thanks, 99
  3. I also have 1990 Acura Legend LS and I know for sure that when the drivers side seatbelt failed to retract it was replaced for free ........... I clearly recall being happy at the time to find out that Acura is the ONLY manufacturer that does the lifetime warranty on seatbelts.:cries: ← I'm with ya 98LS........had a 97 Acura 2.2CL with bad seatbelt replaced free- was told it has a lifetime guarantee...... That's pretty weak that Lexus won't take care of it 'Gratus"......It's the LAW to buckle up - one would think "the Law" would make it madatory free fix.
  4. Jim, We've got to do lunch - I'd like to see that Doctor's Kit!!!
  5. Agree that has to work......... Good luck buddy!!
  6. I think 1990LS400 answered our question........ my 99 doesn't have a code programmed in - it comes from the factory WITH OUT any code. The owner must program it if he/she feels the need for extra security. I changed my battery last fall, and like you, encountered no problem. I looked at my owners manual and had no indication the dealer put a code in it - so: no problem. My thought is this: why put a code in it anyway. It doesn't prevent anyone from breaking in and taking it........ :o So it doesn't do the owner any good :whistles: You have to get a new one anyway.................
  7. I just tried 3 times to attach an PDF file to a reply........ Just like I've done a thousand times with the old software. It doesn't work. After I hit "browse" - I locate the file on my computer. Then I hit "Add this Attachment" = button just to the right......... My file that I just "browsed too" goes away - completely blank. I'll await further instruction.........
  8. Ok........ This new software update won't allow me to attach.... :chairshot: remove air cleaner and MAF unit remove throttle body You gotta take the intake manifold off ; replace those gaskets. remove the water bypass "o ring" and the bypass pipe. Then you get to the starter.... All the above has lots of "individual steps" - probably 8 hours plus for dIY..
  9. I haven't changed the starter. My buddies 97 coach edition LS with 120K just had the starter replaced - $800. Heres my 99LS manual description:
  10. Must be a glitch in the new Forum Upgrade.......... yes, 15K has got to work...... MIne says "O Bytes" Too............ gotta be the upgrade isn't "debugged" yet...
  11. afaleti, Sorry about the Chiefs game........we needed a win That is a rip if the whole mirror assembly is required - but I wouldn't doubt it HOw much does that cost - $200+
  12. Ditto the above.............. You probably notice it also shifts down to First as you slow to near stop at an intersection or such - then revs a little and goes to Second gear..........not the best IMHO but she'll run Smooth after that. It's Toyota's way for engine protection - no way for it to "LUG". Let's the tranny do the work..........
  13. Craig ...... does the repair involve electrical components or is it just a lubrication issue with the gear train? ← Good point 98LS!!!
  14. Mine has done this a couple times in the last few months.... It kinda "groans" as it retracts inward - but its okay on the tilt upward before retraciting............. There's a great thread on fixing the power tilt for the steering wheels, probably current on the first or second page - it surfaced again a few days ago..... If mine gets worse - I'll dig it up and get to work... Thanks for the TSB!!
  15. afaleti, Glad it will work out....... That's a good idea to get a new bracket since you noticed it was slightly bent; to prevent it from "popping loose" again at some inopportune time.... Thanks for the photos - no I know what to look for too!!! :D
  16. Yes, I did several changes the first month I had my LS - all pan drains. It will help clear up the fluid really well!!
  17. That should "slide" and snap back into place if the top bracket with the 2 screws is undamaged.... Otherwise, you may need to find that part - if the side tabs won't hold the mirror assembly anymore...
  18. Ahh, That makes sense!! Jim, since our do not have a "antenna" - I didn't think about that possiblity (forgot it was on older models.....)
  19. I remember someone saying they could remove the pump from underneath without removing the radiator. A tight fit, had to hold it just right, but it wiggle thru........
  20. have you compared the all season rims & wheels to the blizzaks for height & width, etc...? A usual check of the struts is to: lean directly over the tire/ wheel area with arms set on top of fender. Push down HARD and let go... See how well the struts "pop up" back into position. It should be just a slight "bounce" and then into positon quickly - no 'squishy or extended bounces" - a sign of worn struts/shocks.....
  21. On the contrary Steve, I'd still be very leary until they PROOVE their worth one or two more times. They need to understand that this man paid a substantial amount of money for a car, and deserves "near perfect" service EVERY time he pulls the LS in........ Mike, I think you feel somewhat like I would - relieved but leary........
  22. I did test drive a S420 before I bought my LS..... Beautiful car, perfect condition, More interior room, longer wheelbase, etc.... But - the ride was stiff and the seats were hard. I didn't care for the interior very much either - lots of carpet coming half way up the drivers console - kinda weird to me The ride mainly turned me off - plus it was interior noise was greater than the LS.
  23. Guys, I've got the solution!!!! After watching a few minutes of an QVC "foodsaver" info-mercial, this is the answer! Get the manufacturer to make a Lexus-sized version of this and we could Vacuum Seal our Lexies for storage. :D No air, No corrosion, No deterioration...............
