  1. print out to read better; kb's limited here.
  2. attached '93 shop manual instructions regarding antenna. page 1 here---pg 2 on next one
  3. if you need to replace the antenna mast--let us know and we will advise the special procedure[pushing certain buttons] in order to do this--piece of cake; but without knowing, you can't do it(tells you in the service manuals.) not saying that the mast is making the noise--probably the motor.
  4. I was the 8th one to reply to this so I guess I am due a follow-up. I wanted to show everyone what $6100. in damage looks like--Just the exhaust system was damaged in amount of $1300. You could never tell that damage was that much. Bad thing is that my wife has to have a rod put in her back !!!! [and lawyers get 1/3 !!!] Oh, the 2003 Lincoln looked terrible !!! guess the attachment will work-haven't done that before on here.
  5. will chime in since mine is different--the 6-disk CD changer is in the trunk under the first aid kit. is it also Pioneer also?
  6. I call the 'snipe' : feathering. It has been present on my tires for about 40 years !!!! goes with driving. It is corrected by 'X' rotation[regardless of what the book says] every 5000 miles. that way it corrects until the next 5000. Most places you buy tires from will rotate free at that milege--if it is a good place.
  7. My wife said I was wrong--and would you believe it: I was !!! You can't set the alarm with the armrest lock while you have the door shut---but you can do it when the door is opened--just sit in the car, open the door, set the armrest lock, shut door, wait until the lite blinks[30 sec] , then open the door----it does go off !!! Guess you would have to get out and unlock the door with the key to shut it off--or maybe insert in ign and turn to acc--didn't check that-used the remote. Of course all this assumes you have the alarm installed !! If so, you should always lock the car with the armrest lock. Advise what you find out to complete the thread. :P
  8. never heard my alarm until I tested it after seeing this post. Looks like you are out of luck--I could not get mine to work without setting with the remote--the inside lock won't set it and the key in the door won't set it. But tks--I heard mine for the FIRST time--
  9. found this on the 'Tire Rack' website. Note this doesn't include shipping[uPS] ALSO you get a FREE DVD player ALSO you may NOT pay state tax[didn't go that far into it] if all this is true---you could be saving considerable funds !!! Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus (Grand Touring All-Season) Specs | Warranty | Reviews | Test Results | Survey Results Sidewall Style: Blackwall Size:225/60-16 OE HR Speed Rated Price: $128 Special Offer Estimated Availability: In Stock Qty: 12345678 SPECIAL OFFER: Free JVC DVD Player when you buy 4 new Michelin® brand tires.
  10. First you should take a wheel off your car[ft] and mount each wheel recd to check for warp, etc. The price sounds high to me $179 ea.!! check the ads in the back of Road & Track, etc for the Tire Rack[maybe you can on line] or similiar tire dealers--you should be able to price the same tires from them and see what they would be to your door. Don't think you pay tax on these from a shipping dealer. Then you pay for mounting and balance. May save some--don't know. You originally asked about chrome wheels as I recall; I do have things you should look at and do if you got these. As info, they are chrome plated alum; and chrome tends to flake on the inside[of tire], also it is MANDATORY that you use stick-on wts[dynamic balanced] on these---not 'drive on' wts. This is from experience !!!
  11. Neat, Terry-----now about that '55????? nice HAM tag !!! N4FHB
  12. Since I brought up the above-I looked at the data for clarification. It is a Sparkomatic,SS65, 6"speaker,2 ports, dual voice coils, heavy magnet, has level control on unit for blending w/ existing speakers, freq. cutoff above 120hz,100watt max,50watts at 10%, freq 30-120hz @-3dB slopes. Cost was $49.95 It does make a big difference and unless you are a 'phile' the 10% doesn't matter.
  13. I understand that the following is not state-of-the-art high tech stuff, but someone may be interested: Sometime back, I bought a amplified(powered) woofer[2-channel] system and installed in an extended cab 97 F-150. Now the bass is really there !!!!! So much so, that you sure don't want to turn up the bass control very high. The system is about 8" x 2 1/2" x 7" and best of all it cost around forty ($40.+) dollars. Believe I got at a Western Auto or Pep Boys. I really should put one in the Lexus since it is low on bass. FYI !!!!!
  14. those CD's could be copied and you could sell for the same price you paid and both of you would come out ahead!!!!
  15. I concur with recent thread that the lite has no reset and actuates by grounding the lite at the brake pad sensor. My lite is ON; I have checked each brake pad sensor wiring for continuity[taken each wire off car and checked---there are 2 wires here and if wear occurs at tip(by rotor) then must the rotor wear thru the brass end connector or the 2 wires for the circuit to be broken. I DO have continuity in all the wires]. When I connect them back to the connector on the chassis why does the light not go out. This is contrary to the single line wiring diagram in the service manual that shows a grounding to take place!!!! Or is there a certain resistence that this brake pad sensor wire must have in order to trigger the lite[this is NOT indicated in the manual-so would assume not. Gave up on this several months ago but want to pursue it again. I have not,but intend to, loop a standard #14 wire in the circuit connector on the chassis to see if the light will go out but will check the following first. I have an idea that the 2 wires are really 'one' wire[as per wiring diagram] and the system grounds against the rotor whenever the plastic tip wears off and exposes the brass end to the rotor. Think this is standard for most auto system. But why with new pads and nothing is touching them is the lite ON?? Guess I need encouragement to start looking at this again--it is so unorthedox I just quit!!! Any ideas or encouragement out there???
  16. May sound 'tacky' but you might want to check at the 'junk' yard. They can post on the 'wire'--may be interesting--free info. I have '93 optional CHROME 16" wheels on my 93 and they look super---but evidently they are rare since I have only seen about one other car in 4 years with them. also the caps are chrome[have to be] and have a gold "L".
  17. Forgot--if you are real cheap, try just one new strut--that is really all I needed--but I bought 2, the hood opens by itself with 2 new ones !!!!!!!!!
  18. Since I started the topic, I suppose I can finish it !!!! Well, tks to everyone--I got the $15.99 struts today and installed------no more prop!!!!! bye--prop--I haven't enjoyed you for the past year or so !!!! Didn't use a drill--just a grinder--you have to get the 'ball' out of the Lexus strut then put on the aftermarket ones. Also, tks to the VA. Beach Flash and the links that had the pixs; tks to whoever tried this and shared. No tks to Lexus for fixing the ball to the part and not the car---then charging $70.00 each for the 'special' part---BULL s---!!!
  19. If you want a 'HARD' copy of any of these tips: do NOT copy the page in the site!!!! these have black background and white lettering----will use a h+++ of a lot of ink. Copy & paste to an e-mail to yourself, then send to yourself, then copy the e-mail----you have black letters and pictures[color if you want] (NORMAL) on a white background and you have used 'not much ink'!!!!!! :D
  20. You could also use Redline syn. in the diff.; but match the type[wt.]; Redline is super!!!!!! Use the man. transmission fluid in any straight shift(other car!) and SPEED shift at 0 degrees!!!!! But stay with Lexus on tran. fluid---I need to change that also.
  21. go to: www.crutchfield.com they have lots of stuff-also you can call their 800 # listed on site
  22. Here I am again !!! ;) Back up even further on the URL and you get a new [at least to me] Lexus LS400 website: http://www.cureline.net/lex/
  23. Go to the following site index for this data: http://www.cureline.net/lex/howtos/ May have to copy & paste??
  24. you-all need to back up on the URL for Obergt's site. will post under new topic.
