  1. the ozone generators are avail. in 12v; type into Google--this is one of them: http://www.ozoneapplications.com/products/...al/Autozone.htm
  2. super idea on a charcoal aftermarket item. I have one to check out; this goes on a Kenmore HEPA 130 Air Cleaner[that I have]. The wrap-around charcoal pre-filter[about 10" by 24"--as I remember] is #83155. This is sold by Sears. About 1/4" thick.
  3. to my knowledge--the a/c filters are activated charcoal--at least they sure cost like it [+ they are black]--that means they filter out odors(unless they are full of tobacco tar to start with !!!!!)
  4. be sure to click OD off when going down a hill [or mountain in this state !!] sure saves brakes!!!!!
  5. Hey Doc--trade my '93 for your '96---I have an OD button!!!!????
  6. Gallery photo #219 may help on the removal and installation of new antenna; old one just ejects and new one refeeds if you push the correct buttons.
  7. You may have to do an adjustment on the linkage under the car. An indication of this is requirement is that the marker does not exactly line up with the marks[on left] of p,r,n,d,etc when you are in each of those gears. advise.
  8. May be of interest re non-amber ft. turn signals: "The basic Federal motor vehicle safety lighting regulation is 49 CFR 571.108 Standard No. 108, Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108 applies to both original and replacement lighting equipment. Title 49 U.S.C. 30115 and Standard No. 108 require that all lighting equipment that is intended to replace original lighting equipment be certified as complying with Standard No. 108. Paragraph S5.8.10 allows the certification to be in the form of a DOT symbol on the product. If the certification is not on the product, Section 30115 requires it to be on a label or tag on the item or the box in which the lighting item is shipped. Therefore, in any enforcement action, it is important to examine the item or its container for certification to see whether the certification requirement of Section 30115 is being met. Table I of Standard No. 108 (applicable to trucks, multipurpose passenger vehicles and buses whose overall width is 60 inches or more) and Table III (applicable to motor vehicles whose overall width is less than 60 inches) require front parking lamps to be white or amber, and front turn signal lamps and front side marker lamps and reflectors to be amber, and all rear and rear side lamps and reflectors to be red, (except that amber is permitted as an optional rear turn signal lamp color, and white is required for backup lamps). The colors themselves must meet the requirements of SAE Standard J578c, Color Specification for Electrical Signal Lighting Devices, February 1977. The colors amber and red may be produced by either a white bulb and amber or red inner or outer lens, or by an amber or red bulb and a colorless or clear lens."
  9. Am curious where the 'cold start injector' is located on a LS---I know what they are[ have had Bosch systems for years]; but I cannot find them in the service manuals [MFI sect. esp.]; cannot find the name even mentioned anywhere. I DO NOT have any problem; but if they exist , why is there NO reference to them. I can't imagine what is being cleaned when someone cleans the cold start injector. Can someone 'enlighten' me so I can stop thinking about this.
  10. Clacey--good post; will now try on mine[before I order the new pipe]; it is tight I know. Did get a price, for info, on this stuff[below]; may stop at the Lexus dealer and get new gaskets for each end. But may be a while before I do it--will advise here what happens, whenever. tks again RICHARD HERE ARE THE PRICE QUOTES YOU HAVE REQUESTED FOR YOUR 1993 LS400... EGR PIPE 25601-50010---$116.14 EGR PIPE GASKET 25634-50010---$0.74 EGR PIPE GASKET 25628-50010---$3.37 SHIPPING DETERMINED BY DOLLAR AMOUNT ORDERED. PLEASE SEE SHIPPING CHART ON ORDER PAGE. 11. Think you should get a rebuilt pump at Autozone[$104us]; the repair kit for the pump will cost you about this much--and nothing is guarenteed---the pump is warrentied for life !!!!
  12. The 'idle-up' can leak if it isn't screwed in tight. I broke one plastic fitting[where one of the two hoses connect] and had to buy one---GOODBY $120. !!!! The drip may be originating from above--wait and see. Can't remember if there was an o-ring there or not. If you unscrew later, be careful not to break anything--it is all plastic[except where it screws in].
  13. This may help--the CD changer is on the right side of the trunk.
  14. should NOT be a prob with a 6-point socket. First of all, no one should use an impact or anything to remove a 180 ft-# bolt with a 12 pt socket (even if it is a correct size !!
  15. don't know if it is possible but maybe you can switch coils and see if you have any fire(spark) on the opposite side. then you would know if it was the coil. should take 2 people since I can't imagine it running without 4 cyls--but all you need is a cranking whether it is running or not.
  16. again--you do not need to undo the transmission lines or the radiator hose--just pull the trans lines toward the rt. once the fastener is loose.
  17. as I recall, you need to unbolt the transmission line holder from the ft. rt. lower part of the block and pull them out of the way. the alt WILL pull out toward the front.
  18. on a constant misfire the fuel mixture goes out the exhaust and burns in the cat. never seen this happen, but guess it is possible. kinda like a sparkplugs in twin exhausts on a 1940 Ford---you could throw fire for 20 ft.--ahaa--for the good ole days.
  19. Joe--noticed that type V was not said-just Valvoline !!!
  20. I found it: " lexus uses valvoline now and it works great." under 'overdrive off light is on..' dated Jan 12th That is ALL I know: it was said !!!
  21. Joe--someone here said that the new Valvoline type V would work ok---know it says for Toyotas on their website---but think we need additional confirmation.
  22. Joe, you can buy a hand held vac that plugs in the lighter outlet--not sure where I got mine tho--use it at car shows(not Lexus) after parking. But probably at Pep Boys, etc
  23. JPI--please be more specific[since you have done this]: Are you saying that the pipe can be removed by twisting and pulling it free? Does it come out from the bottom or from the top? If from the bottom, does the rt. cat. need to be removed? Can the new one be inserted without any major problem?? Did you have a problem removing and reinstalling the middle bolt holding it to the engine block--have to use a mirror and flashlite to even get a glimpse of this bolt-appears to be very difficult to remove--a blind installation. TKs for your reply. I am seriously trying to find out if it can be done without dropping the tranny or removing the intake as many have said. It does look to be questionable. Would certainly prefer a replacement rather than a replacement. Glenmore---do you know how the dealer did it--curious??
  24. Assuming the unit is an Escort: Find out what type it is then go to the online manuals from the Main site: http://www.escortradar.com NOT the site I listed above since it is for one model only and that may not be yours---print out the manual---there are adjustments for sensitivity(door openers), volume, etc.
