  1. I believe the system does know, as each tire sensor has unique identifier codes, but without the proper scan tool, you won't be able to tell.
  2. You may want to check the backup lamp switch.
  3. Just curious, does anyone know which manufacturer has a better or more sophisticated system?
  4. There is no hook up for the Sirius tuner to the sharkfin. The internal antenna thats mounted to your windshield is just a simple coax antenna thats plugged into the tuner. My suggestion was to remove the windshield antenna and get a regular external antenna, mount it somewhere on your vehicle, and plug into the tuner. We've done it for one or two of our customers because of the poor performance of the windshield antenna.
  5. Thats the key word right there. Assumptions can make people do stupid things. Sometimes you have to think and take control rather than let a piece of silicon think for you. Curious why he didn't hit the button, since in a normal car he would have reached up to turn the key and taken it out. That movement is pretty much habit after all these years, almost like its built into our dna. :D
  6. Yes, as you were obviously near the car when your wife started it. The vehicle still detected the smartkey and allowed the vehicle to start. Once your wife drove out of range of the key, the "key not detected" light comes, but it doesn't kill the engine. If she turned off the car, then the vehicle will not restart because no smartkey is detected. It wouldn't make sense to kill the engine while driving as that would cause other serious situations. Besides would you like that to happen if your battery got weak or died while you were driving and the car just suddenly died?
  7. Don't there is a connection from the Srius tuner to the sharkfin, as it wasn't designed for it. My suggestion would be to get an external antenna for the Sirius. The windshield mounted one that Lexus uses sucks.
  8. XM Traffic seems to have a lock with most in car navigation systems. Sirius does offer Sirius traffic, but seems to be so far only a few Chrysler/Jeep vehicles. FYI, both systems essentially provide the same information as the information is provided by Traffic, a Navteq company. The are other ways to access the information, but it depends on how much information and detail you want. You can't beat the integration feature unfortunately. The traffic information as well as road construction and accidents are available online at traffic.com. I myself access the condensed version on my cellphone. If you have Windows live mobile installed on your cellphone, the flow rate information is available, which is the road display with green, yellow, and red overlay. There is a short time lag, but then again I personally don't need to know why traffic is slow, just that its slow and where. I believe its also available on Yahoo to Go and Google mobile.
  9. Like many manufacturers, Lexus has more than one oem tire for their vehicles. The oem tires for the RX300 were the Goodyear Integrity and the Bridgestone Dueller.
  10. You can check with the Lexus website and search for bluetooth, but it would also help if you told us what you are trying to do and what phone model.
  11. I'm not even sure what it does, but it looks like its part of the emission control system.
  12. Its the vacuum surge tank.
  13. The bluetooth antenna is built into the multidisplay.
  14. The inglass diversity antenna is for the normal FM reception. It has nothing to do with the XM radio. Fortunately the new XM antennas are quite a bit smaller the previous versions. I've looked through the brochure for the 2008 ES and all I see is in glass FM diversity listed, where do you see satellite?
  15. According to Lexus' web site, the BB Pearl from AT&T should be able to transfer contacts to the vehicle. However it only transfer the entire/group list not individual contacts. Did you follow the set of instruction from the Lexus Web site? http://lexusbluetooth.letstalk.com/brands/.../293_05Navi.pdf
  16. It is 30GB. It primarily holds the Navigation database and the Gracenote database. The remaining space can be used to store your music. Before anybody gets too excited, this is a car not a Tivo. Theres seems to be some assumption that the vehicle has a standard desktop hard drive that can be upgraded to a larger size like a Tivo. It does NOT. The hard drive is rather small that fits in slot in the back of the multidisplay. It may be a laptop type hard drive, but I can't tell unfortunately.
  17. It is true you would have to remember that your moon roof is open, but I think you can close the moon roof with your remote also. Now if the smartkey was truly smart, the moon roof would close on its own when it no longer detects your key. :P
  18. You can only rip audio cds onto the hard drive. The system does not allow you to load your mp3s onto the hard drive per page 234 in your navigation owners manual. The hard drive is located in the dash somewhere behind the nav screen.
  19. Not sure where you see that it needs to be configured. It says press button to lock the door, press and "hold" the button to close the windows and the standard moon roof.
  20. Looks like you would need to replace the terminal inside the connector socket. You can get from the Lexus dealer, probably even Toyota, and it will come with a short length of wire. You just have to remove the old terminal, insert new one and the splice the wire to main wiring.
  21. Unfortunately, people may not know the information. I can't even find the information in the catalogs, but then again, thats something wouldn't put in anyway, as they generally have only one size so theres no need for the size information and we only replace with factory oem parts. If I were in your shoes, I would actually go to Crutchfield.com since they've done most of the work for you. According to their database, it seems the rear deck speakers are a slightly different size than the door speakers. Make sure you check the installation details.
  22. Did you look in your glove box. Back then, I believe they put the tire information in there.
  23. If you are trying to connect your ipod to play music via the stereo bluetooth, its probably not going to happen since the Lexus bluetooth doesn't accept A2DP. Not sure which cars do though, other than the new Fords with the Sync system.
  24. Sounds like its just the antenna rod thats broken. The fact that you can hear the motor is a good sign. The antenna rod has a nylon cord inside with teeth. Most likely some of the teeth are broken. You don't have to remove the antenna assembly to change the antenna rod. Unfortunately I've never replace one before, but I've some do it, and it doesn't look too dificult.
  25. I'd still take it back to the dealer and see if they would still cover it. No harm in asking. Its possible the sensor has gone bad again, but I'd be suspicious as to why. My guess is thats theres something else wrong, that could be causing the sensor to fail. Worst case would be a bad cat. Do you have the code? I'll take look tomorrow.
