  1. DAMN! I just called Lexus of Wayzata (Minnesota) and the associate i talked to said the part was $299, installed it was $500. How does each dealership come up with that price? If the .pdf the other poster linked to is correct, they are marking the installation up by $200. I would really like this as i have an iPhone but i'm not willing to pay $500 for it.
  2. 17K miles on my 07 IS350. I used to obsess about the mileage by saving gas receipts and note the miles on that tank. I believe for the most part it was 22-23 MPG on average. Now i just look at the tank average on the console display and it indicates 22 and the average MPG which is 23.1. It seems like the display is pretty close to what i used to get when i regularly did the math. My commute is 23 Miles in each direction, easily 2/3rds of which is highway. I am also a lead foot surely i could drive more mild and get better mileage but i concur with one of the previous posters that i find this really difficult and the next day just revert to my heavy footed ways, so i can't say what is possible. -Mike
  3. Sorry to learn about your troubles. I think the owner's manual mentions something about disabling the traction control when the car gets immobilized in snow. This allows the wheels to spin so you can dig your way out. This is a technique that I am sure you are familiar with from your Mustang days. You have a 2007 so you can disable the traction control with a single button touch. This will avoid the traction control applying the brakes and bogging the car down. I can’t claim that I it will work 100% as I roll an IS250 with AWD but I seem to remember other IS350s with similar issues. Chicago is going to get another half-foot or so of snow this weekend so maybe you can try my suggestion up in MN. Unless of course you have already tried it without success? Regards, Yeah, i had forgotten about that switch and it's sort of hidden by the steering wheel. I tried it out just this last week and it was an improvement, to have the tires spin, even if they were slipping a bit to power through. Still not great but better for certain. And your right about being used to it with the Mustang. On a side note, the dealership replaced the summer tires with winter tires of the exact same width and aspect ratio. I have always heard that for going through snow, narrower tires were a little better as they allow the car to get through the snow easier. So i'm a little surprised that they didn't use narrower tires as the car can use all the help it can getting through snow and ice. -Mike
  4. I have a 2007 IS350 and am in Minnesota which has gotten about a foot of snow in the last couple of weeks and with the summer tires the car was completely unable to move, without checking i had thought it was using all season tires. I got a similar quote from the Lexus dealer, tires and wheels for 2300. I went with the Michelin Pilot Alpins, as i had them on my last car (01 Audi S4). It certainly made the car better, but seriously, two inches of snow can still literally disable the car. Any ice at all under the snow, which is hardly uncommon here and the traction light comes on and the car simply won't move forward. And the Etc/Power/Snow switch which i believe electronically just starts the car in 2nd gear, makes it worse not better, it can take 30 seconds in "snow mode" before the car gets moving. It's really maddening because like others who've commented on this thread i've really loved everything about the car right up until the snow fell. i knew a RWD car would be more difficult in the winter (for several years i drove a V8 Mustang, RWD) but i never dreamed it would be this bad. Given the climate in Minneapolis i think i am going to sell the Lexus next summer and go back to Audi with maybe the S5. Just my .02
  5. Really? Hmm, well whether it's monitored or not that IS a good reminder, i don't think i've EVER checked the pressure on a spare. One last comment tho, every other time pressure monitoring system i saw on other manufacturers car's could visually indicate the pressure on each of the tires and could presumably tell you which tire might need more pressure. All the comments indicating the various reasons why you should check all the tires in the event of a low pressure warning are surely correct, i'm sure i should check more often. My point which i might now have made clearly is that the system must know WHICH tire is low and it seems like an obvious implementation of the system would be identification of the tire/sensor which has exceeded the threshold. Thats all, and thanks for all the replies!
  6. It doesn't tell you which. You need to carry a tire guage in the car, as it's hard to just look at the tires to see it's flat since they have a low profile. I had come to a similar conclusion, but i have to say, that seems retarded that there is a system in place to monitor pressure in each tire but this system cannot identify the tire which is low, even though it MUST know. Oh well Thanks for the response.
  7. I've looked through the owners manual but i don't see any indication that the warning system will identify which tire is low. Can this be right? Since there are sensor's in each tire it must KNOW which one is low but i can't tell how. Can anyone confirm this is the way it works or tell me what i'm missing. Thx 07, IS350, with ML+Nav+bluetooth
  8. That patch is for the 650, didn't he say he had the 700wx? Once you applied this patch what kind of functionality did you gain? Would it reconnect when you came back into range? Could you transfer any contacts? Does the battery and signal strength display correctly on the nav screen in the car? -Mike
  9. According to the Bluetooth page on Lexus's website the wireless carrier is also something to consider, example some people say that Verizon blocks some of the bluetooth transmissions on their phones. But until three days ago i had the treo 700wx with Sprint and paired it with my 07 IS350, and it was almost worthless, and it would never reconnect once i came back within range. I went out and got a Blackberry Pearl with T-Mobile and it intergrates very well. There are complaints from those i am talking to that they can barely hear me but i can hear them fine. -Mike
  10. There are other strings that are discussing the lock out problem and possible ways around it. You can always just dial with your phone, though I find that it doesn't come out the speakers until after the person picks up that way. also, the system is set up to just have the phone, driving directions, etc come out of the drivers front speaker. as far as I know, there isn't any way to change that. Hmm, i have bluetooth transferred my adress book but when a call comes in it only says "incoming call" though the number is loaded.
  11. I picked up my 2007 IS350, a week ago. At that time i had the Treo 700wx with Sprint. This phone would pair but that's it. And once you walked out of range it would not reconect. This phone sync's with my work Exchange account and had about 150 contacts in it that i really wanted to load into the car's phone book. But this was just not happening with the Treo. After looking through the bluetooth phone list on Lexus's website i settled on the Blackberry pearl with T-Mobile. 10 minutes after pairing it with the car the complete address book was bluetooth transferred to the car. It reconnects without issue and all in all works quite well. The biggest complaint i have is that most people report that they can barely hear me although i can hear them just fine. I have a call into the dealership to see if it is possible to up the gain on the microphone. -Mike
