If anyone is interested, Lexus is coming out with their own Ipod integration unit. It will connect through the glove box and will recharge your ipod as well. Your vehicle has to be satellite ready since it works through the SAT input. This is a limitation of the Lexus version since you can't have the factory satellite radio and the ipod. Its either the ipod or satellite radio, not both. No official announcement from Lexus, but the kit is available for order.

Its funny how things have reversed. Todays Camrys and Avalon ride like the old Buicks...soft, floaty, too much body roll, no road feel. Not like the old days when the Big 3 made crap. Toyota's demographics has shifted toward an older age group, essentially filling the needs of the generations that uses to buy Buicks and Cadillacs, since both Buick and Cadillac have over the years *BLEEP*fted toward more driver oriented vehicles. Lexus has done the same thing. Since Toyota has gotten older, Lexus has shifted toward younger, like the IS-F with more perfomance. Lexus has always tried to model itself after its German counterpart, though the early LS were a little softer ride. Its ashame we here in the US don't have roads like the German autobahn, then people would understand why certain vehicles, like BMW and MB, ride and perform like the way they do. As mentioned by someone in an earlier reply, part of a vehicles ride characteristic is in its tire and if people just looked at the tires of the LS460, they would have notice the car has 50 aspect ratio which pretty much says performance and road feel since the tire won't have as much air as say a 65 aspect rato tire to cushion the ride.

Yes there are differences, but the differences are more added functions that I don't think were available on the 2004. The display only shows 10 characters, unfortunately 2 less than the 2004 model, and if there is more text press the TEXT button until it beeps. This is somewhat similar to the 2004 model for the cd player where you had to do the same thing. Not sure about the radio. As for title, artist name, channel name, and channel number, those I believe are the added functions. See page 186 in your owners manual. The display info changes each time you press TEXT. This added feature is probably whats causing some confusion since its tied into one button, that is used by the radio and cd player. Personally, I don't understand why there isn't an auto scroll feature in the radio. I have this Sirius satellite plug and play unit that I paid $50 for and it has autoscroll, and I believe the autoscroll is a function of the radio unit not the satellite service.

Bluetooth Phonebook Transfer - *success*
gordonw replied to David S's topic in 07 - 13 Lexus IS250 / IS350 / IS-F
I'd recommend you check to see if you have the most current firmware update. Also you may need to change your format. The phone number listings should only be digits, no special characters such as "-", "(", or ")". If you still can't transfer the contacts, see if you can put your phone numbers into a quicklist category in your phone and try to transfer the quick list. Also I would check with the Treo forums such as Treocentral for more help. -
Reread my prior post and your owners manual. The seatbelt pretensioners use the airbag sensors but can activate INDEPENDENTLY. In simple terms, the belts can activate but not the airbags.
-
There seems to be some confusion. Airbags are not your prmary safety feature. They are a supplement to prevent your impact with the interior such as the steering wheel, dash, or windshield. Your seatbelts are your primary safety feature. As you may or may not be aware, your front seat belts have pretensioners built ino them to help restrain you. They use the air bag sensor to activate, but they can activate independently of the airbag. Another thing is the car is smart enough to know if the passenger seat is occupied. If it is not occupied, the passenger airbag will not deploy.
-
Another thing to note is that you can't go by the physical damage of the vehicle. It may look like excessive force impacted the vehicle, but todays cars are are better designed with safety features like crumple zones and such that are designed to absorb the impact.

Did you check the fuse block under the hood on the passenger side.

Throttle Body Gasket, 99 Gs300
gordonw replied to snx37's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
Part number for the I6 throttle body gasket is 22271-46070. The gasket is rather thick and the $39 price sounds about right. -
Navigation System Manufacturer /help
gordonw replied to Scott_lmtd's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
Don't expect a quick answer from the service manager as he probably won't be the man making the final decision. He's going to have to go talk to Lexus, which may take some time. The problem is that the screen comes from a vendor, which will send a repaired unit for the dealer to install, but they won't take back the broken display because of the physical damage. Because of the physical damage, the replacement unit gets billed to Lexus as if it was a new unit which is quite considereable(about 6x the cost). If the unit had just stopped working (no physical damage), the warranty exchange pricing would be reasonable. We had a similar situation awhile back. We had to get confirmation from Lexus that they would cover the full repair cost since the unit was physically damaged. Until that happened, the dealership wouldn't install the replacement unit. Here's how the money thing works.... Dealer orders replacement unit.... Dealer installs replacement unit... Vendor bills dealership for replacement unit (normal warranty cost)... Dealers sends defective unit to vendor for repair... Dealer submits warranty cost to Lexus... Lexus reimburses dealership... Vendor inspects and repairs unit.... here's where its get to be a problem, vendors notes physical damage, rejects units, bills dealer for the cost of a new unit and dealer can't submit a new claim. -
That price might be a bit high. VIN doesn't seem to pull up for me, but if you do have a Japanese built sport package RX, the only headlamp available for the vehicle is the lens capsule only. No bulbs or ballast. Everything gets swapped over to the new headlamp. The capsule lists for a little $600 plus tax and then the labor to swap over components. Only the North American built RXs have a listing for complete headlamps.
-
Is that price, $1300, for just the part or part and labor?

Theres no harm in talking to the manufacturer. It will depend on your attitude, in other words don't give an attitude. Ask politely for some assistance. Understand you are out of warranty and manufacturers also look at your service history as a guage. Business is all about relationship. You chose to go somewhere else for service, which is fine as Lexus costs are generally high, but now that you have a problem, you come back expecting to be treated the same as someone who regularly brings their car in to Lexus for service. Is that fair to the other owner? Lexus dealers understand servicing a Lexus can be high. If you were a regular customer, you would have had the dealership service department on your side. The dealership would have worked with the manufacturer and could have provided some assistance, possibly even warranty the part. This is not unique to Lexus, as all manufacturers do the same thing. Returning customers are loyal customers and therefore are valuable customers. Remember, work with your dealership as they can be a valuable ally to you in looking for assistance from the manufacturer. Good luck.

Code 25 is for your ABS/TRAC system.

I would try the Blizzak DM-Z3, which comes in that size. Blizzaks are always a popular winter tire.

2004 ES330 has quite a few choices in radios. There is an amplifier in the car. I'm going to assume base radio, no navigation, and no cd changer. As far as I can tell, the color of the wires don't seem to change between the options. Front speakers left: P(ink)( + )and V(iolet)( - ) Front speakers right: LG(light green)( + ) and L(?)( - ) Rear speker left: B(lack)( + )and Y(ellow)( - ) Rear speaker right: R(ed)( + ) and W(hite)( - ) Mute: BR(own) Sorry can't figure out what L is for a color. Its looks bluish in the manual.

Verizon "envy" Cell Phone And Bluetooth
gordonw replied to shellybelle's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
You're a little late. A class action suit was filed a few years back against Verizon, and Verizon lost. Should google Verizon V710 lawsuit and learn what crippled bluetooth is. Even if the Lexus bluetooth may have compatibility issues, thats no excuse to blame the car if your phone doesn't have the proper bluetooth profiles. People tend to overlook their phone and carriers for some reason. FYI, the bluetooth profiles the car needs to see from your phone are listed in your owners manual. -
The Sirius antenna thats used on the ES is the Sigma type which is supposed to be placed on the windshield for the best line of site. It may be an issue in the back glass area, and is not designed for outside use. My suggestion, if you want to keep it on the back shelf, would be to get a different antenna. I would recommend the Sirius Dot Micro, which can be purchased at BB or CC. Its a very nice high gain antenna with very good reception.
-
The factory Sirius install has the antenna mounted to the front windshield, so this is probably not the factory system.

To be honest, there's no guarantee the new update would even have your missing roads.

The only two nembers you need to worry about are generation and disc version number. You have a generation 4 navigation system. To find out which disc version you have, just access the disc information on your navigation display. The most current version is 7.1.
