  1. The 97 LS coach seats also have air bags in the outboard sides of the seat backs -- don't know if there is a separate connector for them.

I don't see the "turn off Bluetooth so wife won't hear conversation with girlfriend" feature described in your navigation system manual. :whistles: With all the flack and laws about talking on a handheld phone while driving, I'm doubting that a car manufacturer is going to give a car owner this type of information or make it easy. I guess you could end the call immediately and call back from your handset after disabling Bluetooth on your handset if you need to.

If maintenance was done at a Lexus dealership, you should be able to see your car's maintenance history after registering at https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/home Even without registering, you "should" be able to see your owners manual in PDF format -- if they fix that part of the website. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The owners manual section of the Lexus website work working for a while yesterday, then wasn't and still is not working today.

I don't think I've ever seen instructions on how to update the generation 6 (?) hard drive navigation which takes updates from a USB dongle but there are a number of past threads about updating DVD based nav systems and the original hard drive based nav system used from 1998 through 2000. I don't know ... the current ES is certainly wonderful but I think the winding rural roads on Vancouver would be more fun in a Boxster!   7. It's not your location. Now I get the same message you get: "We're sorry, but the document you requested is not available at this time. Please try again later." I've always been curious about why access to the owner manuals comes and goes.

  9. The listing is gone from Craigs List but this 1990 white LS400 was, as of yesterday, still on display at the Grease Monkey at 8200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas. It is identical to the car I bought new and sold in 2003 to forum member ylekiot1 -- right down to the gray cloth interior and only three options ... sunroof, keyless entry, and floor mats. The asking price is high but it is a low (50K?) mileage, one-owner car and close to showroom condition. It was obviously always garaged as there is not a hint of sun damage on the leather steering wheel. Seeing it brought back fond memories - I absolutely loved the cloth interior in my old LS.
  10. I've found the owner manual portion of the U.S. Lexus website to be occasionally flakey and I've sometimes gotten the same "We're sorry .." message you got. I just now tried it and can see the 2011 RX350 owner manual PDF's. You might try it again. Maybe it was a "Sunday" issue ... i.e. much of the world's computer system maintenance happens on Sunday mornings. I would be surprised if they are would be restricting access to IP addresses outside the U.S. but I guess it is possible.
  11. I don't know how you would find out which company or companies supplies brake rotors to Toyota unless there is some sort of manufacturers mark on the part. As far as I know, Toyota puts cross drilled rotors only on it's two "go-fast" Lexus cars - the 202 mph LFA and the 170 mph ISF. Since Toyota does not put cross drilled rotors on its Lexus vehicles that are limited to 149 mph in the U.S. and 155 mph in Europe, I'm doubting that cross drilled rotors would be beneficial on a 112 mph crossover like the RX330. And there can be safety issues which are explained at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disc_brake

I checked the repair manuals for my 2000 LS400 and was surprised to find that there are no diagnostic procedures for the lumbar support in the diagnostic section for the power seats -- I suspect due to the lumbar adjustment not being controlled by the seat position memory system. The repair manual section on replacing the seat covers seems to show the lumbar adjustment mechanism as a separate component with a separate step in the seat disassembly process, e.g. "remove lumbar adjustment assembly". Have your lumbar supports ever worked? If not, maybe a prior owner had the seat covers replaced and the lumber adjusters were either left out or their connectors left unplugged. By the way, according to the diagram the lumbar adjustment mechanism does not appear to be an "inflator" It looks like a motor and lever assembly which pushes a metal spring grid forward against the padding beneath the leather cover on the seat back.

Owner manuals for U.S. specification Lexus cars, including the 2011 RX350, are available in PDF format at https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/home - there is no need to register to view the manuals. I don't see manuals at http://www.lexus.ca but maybe they are there somewhere. I wouldn't have any idea how similar U.S. and Canadian spec 2011 RX350 models are. There have in the past been numerous differences between Canadian and U.S. models aside from the obvious metric instrument displays. Edit: Duh! I just crawled out of bed when I posted the above. The same owners manuals almost always cover both Canadian and U.S. models with the differences explained.
  14. The procedure has been posted numerous times in the past since it is essentually the same on all model years of the LS400. Remove the light housing next to the headlight (which is the turn signal on the 98-00 LS400). Remove the bolts/screws that hold the headlight housing to the body and pull it forward to remove it from the car. Disconnect the power wire from the bulb, replace the bulb, reattach the power wire, and reinstall the headlight housing and turn signal housing. All this should take maybe 5 to 10 minutes.

  17. Even in my old non-nav 00 LS400, the average speed shown in the trip computer is much more accurate that the high reading of the speedometer. My guess is that the speedometer in our cars is purposefully set to read a little higher that the true speed.
  18. How are you plugging two devices into one outlet? If you are using an 2-into-1 adapter, maybe it's defective. And some chargers are not very friendly to lighter sockets. And chargers can go bad ... the wife's Blackberry eats cheap off-brand chargers. You could try connecting a charging socket to another circuit ... e.g. my phone charges directly from the ignition switch with an in-line fuse to protect the circuit. Did the fuse blow just once? If so, just try it again - maybe the problem was an aberration.

  20. The specs and options for the 1997 LS400 are at http://www.lexus.com/contact/pdf/1997/1997LSspecs.pdf The option list is incorrect in that only front heated seats were options on U.S. models. The LS430 was the first LS that had optional rear heated seats.
  21. Here are a couple of diagrams that might help. I was thinking the reservoir was on the passenger side -- that's why I highlighted the info for the passenger side fender liner. Based on what you said, I it is on the drivers side since the diagram shows the driver side fender liner coming forward further than on the passenger side. The photos kinda show where the fasteners are. The diagram of the level switch doesn't show it's location very well. Maybe you can zoom in on it. Sorry, I was thinking the routine for getting to the washer tank was more uniform on Toyota vehicles. It's very easy on some.

  23. On most Toyota vehicles it is necessary to remove or at least detach the front portion of the wheel well liner. On some you might have to remove entire the wheel wheel liner. I've never heard of anyone having to remove a bumper cover.
  24. Eagle Eyes headlights for the 90-94 LS400 have gotten positive reviews from several who have bought them -- there have been several past threads that you can find by searching this forum. Attached are photos of forum member Python's car with them. There's almost nothing you can do to improve the light put out by the factory 90-94 headlights -- the problem is the light pattern cast into the lens. Silverstars have actually been documented to put out less usable light that regular bulbs and they have a short life ... stay away from any bulb with a blue coating. The Eagle Eyes headlights use an H4 bulb so you have to splice in an appropriate connector to use them on a 90-92 LS400. The connectors can be bought at auto parts stores. I've spliced in H4 connectors on numerous cars and its easy to do. Eagle Eyes have been available on eBay for a couple hundred $$ or so for a pair from seller Sabersport but there may be other sellers. Edit: I just now checked eBay and Sabersport has them for $194 a pair.
