  1. Paul...you are quite observant. "Yes", I have "concerns" when it comes to certain auto dealerships who compensate Service Dept. personnel based on "commission only ", etc...(which is the case here). They are incentivized to generate as much service revenues as possible....while my objective is to find the quickest, most cost-effective solution to the problem. As an example....I had a recent issue with my tire pressure monitoring system whereby the symbol on my guage stayed lit...even after confirming proper air pressure, etc... Took the vehicle to the local Toyota dealer, paid $47.50 for
  2. I have a 2006 Lexus GX-470 and the Multi-information system began working intermittently. Recently, it has stopped working altogether. I checked all the fuses which reference the unit and they looked good. I then carried the vehicle into the local Toyota dealership and they ran the diagnostics (supposedly) and claimed the unit was getting power and quoted me approx. $650 for a new unit. Upon leaving the dealership found they had somehow messed up the electirical outlet which had been working prior. Not sure I want to pay that much for new unit just to have the clock, outside temp, etc...
  3. I have a 2006 GX-470 purchased used and want to pull a trailer with boat or motorcycle, etc... There's a bar under the rear bumper which looks as if it has been manufactured such that I just need to install a hitch receiver ($30 and bolt it on, versus installing a complete/separate towing bar ($350...or $700 at the Lexus dealership). I would want to pull up to 3,500 lbs. Can anyone provide their opinion/advice on this? Thanks.
  4. Yes, Paul. I was curious as to conventional vs. synthetic, along with brand or quality experience. Thanks for your response.
  5. Anyone have recommendation on type or brand of oil to use on oil change?
  6. Now, Jim...that would be a problem worth worrying about! Seriously, I could disable the Bluetooth from my Blackberry. It just seems there should be a more convenient way in which to accomplish this on a call by call basis. This sorta defeats the "hands-free" concept which Bluetooth is based on!
  7. Need some advise, please. I have a 2006 GX-470 which is Bluetooth capable. I have my cell phone initiated just fine. Here's my question....is there a way to temporarily deactivate the Bluetooth when I receive a call? The problem....I may have people in the vehicle with me when a call comes through and would prefer not to have the Caller's voice amplified through the speaker such that everyone can hear. Would prefer to keep the conversation as private as possible. So, is there a way I can temporarily deactivate the Bluetooth and field the call with my cell phone only...without deleting th
  8. Recently purchased a 2006 Lexus GX-470 and would like to update navigation system. Can anyone help with the Gen 4 ver.7.1 or 8.1? Thanks.
  9. I recently purchased a CPO 2006 GX-470 and would like to upgrade the navigation system. Does anyone have the Generation 4 version 7.1 or 8.1 upgrade they could help out on? Thanks.
