  1. oh yea lex4me: i used a 2jaw puller and an aluminum punch that i machined to push out a rear bushing i did ( theres a tutorial in the tutorial section the pics and proceedure are on the second page.) and well you probably cant machine the punches but i think you can find some punches at a local autozone, napa, checkers/kragen...you get the idea.
  2. lextreme: i think he said that he said he has new arms, so thats why i suggested that he could put the bushings back. and you dont need to destroy the bushing to remove them, but you need a special punch so it doesnt push the inner sleve. but thats hard to come by but well i had to make my punches.
  3. well just keep the new(old) bushings after being pushed out, and if you dont like the ride with the urethane then just have the old ones pressed back in.
  4. hey bean, alot of japanese people dont like leather thats probably why you ended up with cloth interior
  5. actually a turbo car is quieter than an NA car because the turbo gets in the way of the exhaust acting like a baffle. its the aftermarket exhaust that makes it so loud .....so you will be putting turbo in? . and any sc can be modded.
  6. so sorry for your loss. but no need to leave the forum just because you dont own a lexus. some of our advice and your advice can always be of use no matter what car we drive. and remember there are other models then the LS so well we will see what happens.
  7. just keep it in 2nd and well you can go above 50mph and thats fast enough. just turn and then turn the other way to get the weight of the car to shift and well step on the gas to spin tire but not enough to spin out.
  8. if you look on ebay there are people who sell replacements for about 150 bucks (ithink)
  9. 500hp @ 6psi??? wow! is that really true? thats alot. the trans probably needs better work if its still slipping. there are aristo's pushing more than that without slipping.
  10. i have my eye on some Bride leather seats. they can get pricey but well leather and some versions come in reclinable seats no power though.
  11. blitz in japan has made a blower kit for the 3uz-fe( LS,SC430 motor) and TOM's also has a kit but its about 10 grand. the blitz should be a bit cheaper.
  12. be sure to vacume the system and as AWJ said you should change oil as it is better for the system. you need to evacuate all of the exixting r12 gas. mixing of the two could cause or would most definetily cause damage to the system
  13. my bad i always get the two mixed up. (my brother is the ac man he does the charging of the gas around my house)
  14. swaybar bushings should be available through the dealer. and oh your car will be as good as new once you do all that work. did mine a couple of months ago (with a bit more parts to to you list) and well its a pleasure to drive again.
  15. yea i mentioned in your other post that you should change it.
  16. cool wish i was there. see no lsd but did it right? sometimes it goes well and others it doesnt and you just spin one tire (or maybe thats just at low speed)
  17. well there goes all your trunk space looks like alot of work! well looks good ! keep it up ;)
  18. ahh i was just going to ask but theres my answer you having to jack up the motor to get the rack off is a good sign of your motor mount gone bad so i would change it out now while the rack is off (if you already didnt put it back on.) the replacement of the motor mounts will have a very big improvement in noise, and vibration. you will find after you change the mount that you dont need to jack the motor up to get the rack up. well if you want to see some pics of the rack and motor mount its in the gallery.
  19. that bolt has a big washer stuck to it that has some markings right? looks like angles. i hope you marked where the position was before taking off that bolt because that will change your camber. and well if you believe that it can be done the other way then give it a try you just might have to get it alligned.
  20. the smell is coming from your cooling unit otherwise known as the condensor(i think) its under the dash and sell to get rid of the smell you have to 1 change it out which is the least practical plus you have to recharge your system,2 try to expose it and dry it out or sparay some kind of mildew cleaner in or on it. or you could roll down your windows and drive with the air on without the ac being on (just the fan) and eventually all the water that can't escape will dry up and your mildew smell will be lessened or gone(if dry enough)
  21. ask them if they have seen them. and if they say they have then their wrong. and sometimes its mistaken for the 5speed auto tranny that bubbles mentioned
  22. i think it only looks like that because of the resolution of the picture. how is it compared to the hood? pin holes and stuff?
  23. since it seems to have gradually gone out try replace the plugs, wires, distributor caps and rotors.
  24. oh yea forgot i had a compressor. (not a very big one though) and an impact that cant even take off lug nuts (probably because of my 5 gal. compressor) and a spray gun and air brush for those spot paint repairs.
  25. you have to put it in the same way, because of the camber issue. and make sure you mark the camber bolt position.
