  1. You need a nakamichi cd changer for the 94 and a pioneer for the 91, Why don't you just get the changer and forget about the bypass. ← I do plan on getting the other changer if this is not possible, I don't plan on keeping this car forever and was looking at cost efficienct ways to fix the problem. Thank you for your help.
  2. I have a 1991 and a 1994 Lexus Ls400. The cd changer in the 1994 was not working and had to be replaced. I purchased a used cd changer that works in my 1991 but is having trouble in the 94. The reason is that the 1994 has a nakamichi amp and the 91 doesn't. There is an extra plug-in on the cd changer for the nakamichi amp which now has no place (the used cd changer just purchased did not come from a nakamichi equipped car.) Now that the amp is not plugged in anywhere, the radio will not work either. Does anybody know how to bypass that amp and configure it to work? if not the cd changer, how about configuring it so atleast the radio will work? Thanks for your help, it is greatly appreciated.
  3. Hey all- My 1991 Lexus LS400 has been having a little bit of trouble lately. It has 130k miles and has been running great until recently. Whenever the car gets up to highway speeds (55+), the brakes have a little trouble. When I apply them, the car starts to shake and the brakes emit a weird noise (again, this is only at higher speeds). I think that the rotors are just warped and need to be replaced. Does anybody know if anything else could be wrong? also, if you think it is the rotors, how much would you expect to have those replaced? Thanks alot fellas... Willy
  4. thats the thing, my battery was said to be brand new when I bought the car 1 year and 3 months ago....I don't think it is the alternator, because of the fact that once I do jump it I am able to drive until the car turns off (meaning the alternator is powering the whole car and the battery is just not holding any juice) but then again...the battery is not old at all and well within its expected lifetime. The other thing that I wasn't sure about is how this would just happen overnight, I didn't have any problems with the car at all the day before while driving or anytihing. Thanks again... Willy p.s.- also, there are no warning lights currently on in the car when it is driving...i dont know if that helps anything.
  5. I own a 1991 Lexus LS400 and I was wondering if you guys could help me figure out an issue I just had with my car. I went to start the car the other day and when I turned the key, there was nothing...it was like the battery had been dead for weeks, it didn't even have enough juice to push the steering column into place. I had driven the car the day earlier with nothing wrong, I didn't notice anything different. So I am able to jump the car and allow it to run and look around to see if I had left a light on in the car or anything of that nature (to see if it had drained the battery) and there was nothing.... I had to drive close to an hour on the highway so I start driving and every so often my dash lights would flicker off and then turn back on right away. This would happen close to every 5 minutes or so. I was able to make the drive back without the car ever stopping (luckily) but as soon as I turned off the car in my driveway, the power was completely gone once again (it didn't even have enough power to put down the antenna). I had to jump it once again and drive it over to my mechanic and when I parked there, same thing happened with no power at all. I was wondering if anybody had any issues like this before and if so what the diagnosis was. Thanks for your help, please ask if you need more information. Willy
  6. Fellas- My CD changer on my 1991 Lexus LS400 has decided to quit on me. I took it into an audio professional and they said that the changer has to either be A.) replaced (about 800 at the dealer) OR B.) refurbished (which they said would cost 300 at the place they send it to). Does anyone know of a better way to take care of this problem? Is there a company out there that is reasonable in pricing and you are able to trust to refurbish the CD changer. Thanks for the help, please let me know any/all suggestions that you have. Willy B)
  7. My Lexus is a 1991 LS400 and my LCD screen has blacked out (like almost everybody else's) The part that is blacked out is the screen in which the climate control temperature and the clock is located. Anybody have any suggestions on what route to take to get this fixed? whether it is sending it in to somewhere or buying a new one...I am up for suggestions. Thanks Fellas.... Willy B)
