  1. those Ti-N coated bits are rubbish! they work initially because the coating is hard but as soon as that wears away the drill blanks it selfs are soft and useless. probably only good for wood and plastics. and drilling bolts that have snapped are especially hard becasue the bolt has hardened from cold working. anyway its worth it to buy a decent set of bits costing 100-200 bucks for a 20-25 piece set. also using any kind of grease or wd-40 will help in drilling and keeping your bits sharp!
  2. you have to try to drill it out or use your extractor. if the extractor can get it out then great! But if you have to drill it out, you may risk ruining the threads. so center punch the bolt, then drill with a small drill bit like a 5mm or sumthin and then use an 8mm or 5/16 and you should be able to get the rest out or it should jsut tear out by itself be sure to clean up the threads using a tap. worse case scenario you need to use an insert thread, and that will get costly if its done right.
  3. if you can enclose the filter area by fabricating a box, then you can!
  4. hoses that pass the power steering fluid which is ATF in this case cause the hoses to harden and cause oil to seep past the clamps. this could be the case where the return and or feed to the pump may be leaking. i think the oil you see on or around the cap is caused by the owner spilling when filling. also the ps pump may need to be rebuilt or changed. this can cost 50 bucks to ~800 bucks depending on if you rebuild it or take it to your dealer.
  5. the batt light can turn on and off when the alt. is bad. grounds and wires to the alt. can be bad but mostlikey its the alt. i have had frayed wires from heat on a alltrac celica give me batt light troubles but the wires run close to the exhaust manifold so the heat ate up the wires.
  6. the thread should be 18x1.5 but not like its crucial cuz you wont find a 1.6 pitch anywhere... but anyway like drifter asked, any gains you can feel?
  7. ^ i agree. but if all fails the regulator may need changing if they didnt.
  8. 4th gear is the least likely to fail the rpm sounds normal. as far as i remember at a little over 2000 rpm say 2250-2500 my 4speed is going about 60. other things to maintain may be hoses if they seem old, heater valve, radiator if it seems corroded or worn in any way.
  9. it should be level as too high of an oil level may casue the seals in the outputs of the diff to leak.
  10. a dead wheel bearing can cause the rim to touch the suspension components. also if your car is super low it can cause the axles to pull out under suspension movement
  11. yea the rpm is normal. im pretty sure its the mounts though.
  12. motor and trans mounts! i havent tried this but you can try slide a small jack under the car and lift the motor and trans up an inch and hop in the car and see if it vibrates. assuming that the car vibrated even with the car not moving this may cure the vibration making it 100% engine and trans mount faulty.
  13. both are the same level of difficulty. but why jdm?unless you want a 1j go with a usdm 2j becasue it has bigger injectors so you can push the stock turbos a little harder than jdm if you want shear power go with the 2j. if you like the sound of the 1j(which i do) then go with that!
  14. oh ok i think one of your tail lights are out or something cuz my ls did that when the tail was out. some stupid saftey feature that doesnt let your drive at night.
  15. just checked at the dealer. the price of the shock have gone up since i bought mine. they are over 400 for all 4 corners now.
  16. it was made in the us from 92-97. and i hear that only 10% or less were 5 speed
  17. well the thing is the GS rim's spoke will hit the brake caliper becasue it is now alot thicker. so if you can find a spacer that will space out the rim enough so that the rims dont hit the caliper or stick out the fender then you got it!
  18. sorry but no. maybe with a spacer.
  19. it could be the relays. which i think they have becasue power windows draw quite a bit of current.
