  1. I have a 92 sc400, and when i remove the key the dash stays active and the running lights stay on. This problem has been happening for about a month and has gotten progressively worse. Usually i can restart the car, remove the key a couple of times, etc etc and it will eventually shut down normally. As well even though it will appear shut down when i park the car, sometime over the next few minutes/ hours the dash will spark to life, or flicker as though i just put in the key. I have not been able to lock my car doors as when this happens it will trigger the alarm. Its a crapshoot whether my car will start, as this drains the battery dead when it happens. On a side note, there appears to be sporadic engine lag when putting the engine under load, like its missing a beat. This doesn't happen all the time, but fairly regularly. The engine idles smoothly and appears to have lots of power under normal driving conditions, but i'm afraid to accelerate with any confidence. Not sure if this is related to the electrical problem or not. Ignition wires, timing belt, distributer caps, water pump have all been replaced within the last year. If anyone has any suggestions i would be very grateful.
  2. I don't think its the switch or the motor for the windows because it affects both sides simultaniously. I lose power to both side windows at the same time, and the switches in both doors don't function. Occassionally after the car sits at idle, both windows and both switches in both doors miraculously work, and the windows go up and down just fine. Then they stop working again. I don't think its the fuse either as the moonroof operates on the same one and functions without any problem. aaarrrrgh. maybe ill install window winders
  3. I have a 92 sc 400 with the same problem and there's no issue most of the time. The traction control is engaged about 50 percent of the time upon starting, but usually I get the light after a few kilometers or aggressive acceleration. One thing I noticed however: when your key is turned but before you start your engine, you should be able to turn the trac on and off. do this about 5 times and start it with the light off, and usually it stays off while driving.
  4. I've been having trouble with the 12 disc changer on my 92 sc400, and it seems like a common problem on here. Discs don't load and an ERR message appears. After reading one post on here suggesting cleaning the rubber roller just inside the open compartment I thought I'd give it a try. I wiped it clean and then sprayed the heck out of the entire unit - inside too- with one of those compressed air cans.(What have I got to lose?) Let it dry, loaded my changer with CDs and...... voila! IT WORKS!!! Not sure if this is a permanent fix or not, but its good to hear something other than a radio again.
  5. I have a 92 sc400 and have been experiencing some electrical problems with the power windows. Driver's side door panel switch buzzes and whines while trying to lower or raise window, but doesn't have enough power to move it. Also cannot move the passenger window from either door panel, but no noise occurs. Occasionally if I let the car sit idling for a few minutes the windows work fine, but then stop working moments later. As well the auto engage door lock when putting the car in Drive occassionally doesn't function. Everything else seems AOK. Would this be a battery problem?? I recently had the rad and thermostat replaced.... Could the mechanic have damaged a wire? Help... as its kinda crappy having to pull up windows by squeezing the glass
