  1. sometimes putting a thicker oil stops leaks but i think that just changing the seals are the best way to go! also synthetics seems to make more oil leaks just beause it seems to get in to places better...
  2. happened on my LS. cable broke in a semi open position and casued the trans to shift in to gears hard becasue the extra line pressure. if its no that some people have fixed the problem by changing the rubber coupling in the driveshaft i dont really know about that though.
  3. there are probably endless things you need to change or address on a 92 and it will become endless. do the small things if time allows and your wallet agrees. my 93 also has many small problems here and there that need to be fixed and its exhausting to even think about! and about your O2 if its throwing a code you might just want to get a new one.
  4. i also suggest getting your transmission throttle cable looked at and maybe just replaced. my LS one was brocken casing high line pressure at idle causing harsh shifting from P-->D
  5. cool! just watch out for them deep puddle of waters!
  6. i dont think you need to take the engine out... its supposed to be inside the dash.
  7. yea its just time consuming as with everything if you have the time why not do it yourself! its a good learning experience! plus if you run in to problems we are always here to help!
  8. if you are having transmission troubles then now is the time to rebuild. i got mine done on my LS for a little over $2000. i think that this $1000 rear main seal job is a bit over the top. i dont know what the labor rate is but it should typically take about 8 hours and if its a dealership i guess the price is right. anyway maybe have the trans torque converter seal and driveshaft seal changed while the trans is out but getting that torque converter back on is quite a job so it might cost a bit more.
  9. i know that the high pressure hose is a big one and costs close to 400 bucks! but they dont want to sell just that?
  10. yea you need to get that checked out. overdrive blinking light means there is a problem
  11. you should have your transmission throttle cable checked out. my LS had similar symptoms. turns out the cable was brocken and stuck in a partially open position.
  12. ebay? a junk yard maybe?
  13. some people tint it with like a 50% so its less obvious... and most time you can get away with a 20%, its kinda hard to tell unless they bust out the gun, or if its like 5% haha!
  14. tinting the windshield is illegal, but so is tinting the windows too dark... if you want it done you just have to give the guy extra cash and maybe showup after hours
  15. the easiest thing you could do is just replace it with a rebuild
  16. try changing your trans mount. its about 50 bucks, and takes about 20 min. to change on the ground! that would be my first guess since your car is reaching 10 years.
  17. im so glad that you took those rims off!!! i was hoping as soon as i saw the first picture that you didnt think those rims looked even slightly acceptable anyway i also hope thats a genuine vertex kit you have... very nice nonetheless!
  18. start checking your oil frequently! if it seems wierd like kinda watery then its probabaly head gasket. overheating will cause the gasket to go bad, but under normal use its unlikely unless you havent changed or added coolant since the car was new in wich case the head gasket may have erroded or coolant level got low and overheated a bit...
  19. the pressing on the brake should work but its messy! but ya gotta do whatchu gotta do...
  20. its possible... but i would try check the resistance first before jumping to conclusion. if possible borrow one from a friend if you know anyone with another 300
  21. wOw!! low boost got mine out... i dont know what to say...
  22. coil? if not might be injectors. but if it were injectors it would be constant.
  23. if your getting in to the higher miles maybe a tuneup is needed. ignition components coil, wires, plug, cap, and rotor could be the culprit as you will not get a MIL in most cases just from some rough idle unless you get a misfire or knock or something of that matter.
  24. im quite the greasy monkey
