  1. I have the codes on my computer at home, but I am at my other home right now so I don't have access. I know this was a topic on discussion on this board a year or so ago. Maybe try doing a search? On the right side of the dash almost to the right side (pass side) of the windshield is a little black looking bump. That is the solar sensor. I seem to remember code 24 being a solar sensor issue. I do know that these cars have rather complicated climate control systems. Mine has a code something to do with the damper door?
  2. I got the same code on mine when I tested it inside the garage, Once it was in the sun, it was gone. The other one that the beltway bandit gave was and ICT? Hopefully that doesn't mean I C Trouble.
  3. Hey Craig - my wife selected a 300. It is the touring limited and she want cool vanilla for the color. I've been to Victoria and Vancouver, wow a very nice place in my opinion. I never knew they had palm trees in Canada since I gre up near Quebec and Ontario. And SWO, oh yea man, I promise you we will get a good deal. Company pays, we drive. Or should I saw, my wife drives. I can drive it as the company allows that, but if it;'s all just the same I'll drive the LS400. I completely cleaned, waxed and conditioned the leather today. I took pictures but since I'm in NJ I haven't put the software to download to on this 'puter.
  4. I agree with SWO. I own 2 American cars and I am looking forward to smoking the tires on my borthers SS-396 in a few weeks. Syracuse Nations coming up you know. Give me a C6 or something with a hemi. BUT, when it comes to buying any new cars.... they better be made by made by Toyota.
  5. Just today I bought the Zymol Cleaner and the coditioer at Target, then I came home and put it to use. Came out nice.
  6. One other think you should consider is that the new battery you got is bad. My neighbor had a bad battery in his car and bought a new one. It still wouldn't start the car. I went home and got my meter and found out the new battery only had 11.2 volts. We took it to advance auto and they tested the new battery and determined it was defective. He put in a second battery and everything is fine. Just because it is new doesn't mean it is good.
  7. I think that if you test the codes when the car is in the garage, or where it is dark, this code will appear. It is related to the solar sensor on the dash. Test it in bright sunlight and see if that code still appears.
  8. I guess the General HAD to give an employee discount to everyone to sel alll the cars nobody is buying. The good news is if one of the 25,000 people laid off need a new car, they can now get it at their old employee price. Except of course that they don't get the paycheck to make the payment with. Doesn't tempt me a bit. I probably wouldn't buy one anyway. I have owned several GM cars and everyone has had terrible brakes and electrical problems. My 1990 Caprice has had 4 radiators, 3 waterpumps, one engine (due to a headgasket failure), three air conditioning repairs, three horn repairs, two windows buttons, three sets of rotors, countless sets of pads, a vacuum actuator in the climate control, rear window defroster repair, a fuel pump, and several other little issues like radio, washer fluid pump, etc. My 1990 Lexus has had one caliper replaced, two sets of pads, and the strut bar replaced.
  9. I use ziplock bags and label them with a Sharpie. Hmmm, maybe I should use generic terms. I use clear plastic storage bags and label with a permament marker.
  10. In the three years I have owned my 90 LS, the temperature gauge has been below the half mark and rock steady. I think that is normal for these cars.
  11. Oxygenated fuel is used to reduce emissions in smoggy areas. While it does reduce emissions, it uses more gas and hurts performance,
  12. You did check the oil level didn't you? It sounds like soemthing that happens when the level is way down. Maybe the Midas dudes only put in 3 quarts because soemone wasn't paying attention.
  13. send me your email and I will send you a tutorial with pictures. vbdenny@myway.com
  14. I'll be doing that this summer. The pressure you gave a for what year LS?
  15. Hi Craig, I really appreciate your imput on this. I have looked at them all, I wasn't impressed with the Volvo since it is bland. We do have the option for upgrades and I think the 5 speed is very nice to have. I didn't know about the option for AWD w/5speed automatic. I'll check and see what the deal is on that. Since we won't be paying for gas or doing maintenece (myself) on it it doesn't matter a whole lot. Thanks for all the pricing data, nice to know what I am dealing with. Getting rather warm down here in VB Craig, you all still have snow? Denny
  16. GM pu themselves in this situation. Building gaint SUV's so suburban soccer mom can crusie their spolied kids around town is their problem. A few years ago when gas was 87 cents a gallon, who cared? GM thought giant vehicles were the ticket so they bought Hummer, the biggest gas hog made since the 1974 Dodge 4x4 Snow Fighter Pickups. The small gas they make are junky, rental car looking things. The new Malibu is horrid! The Cobalt? looks like a cheap Cavilier to me. The only ball GM has in it's court is the Corvette, and how many of them do you think they sell? Next, cops and taxi drivers don't buy GM since they dumped the rear drive Caprice and Impala SS. Then again, they were in demand. My 5 speed Corolla gets 41mpg highway, 32 city. It has a 12 gallon gas tank which will barely hold $20 worth. Yeah, they ARE in trouble.
  17. Hey, at least I called something right!
  18. Well, my wife saw someone at work with a black 300 and likes the car, but not black. The car she gets is the touring limited. We can upgrade to the 300C IF we pay the difference. Since this is a leased company vehicle, I don't see that happening. When she saw the Pacifica, she thought it looked too much like a minivan for her. So it is looking like the 300 touring ltd. We will probably get white since black is too hot in the South.
  19. Many times when cars are financed through independent dealers, they keep a key to the car so when they have to repo it, they have the key. On the other hand, I knew a guy in Brooklyn who with his buddies would "steal" a car from one of their friends, strip all the seats, tires, engine, etc, then dump the thing in a neighborhood near another buddy. The "stolen" car would get reported and recovered. They would get the car back along with a fat check from the insurance company then put all the parts back on. Then he fell off the back of a truck at work and got disability. They screwed things up for you.
  20. So what does a crankshaft position sensor do? Seems to me if the crankshaft was out of position, the engine wouldn't run? Whatever, it sounds expensive.
  21. I think DC hit the nail on the head even though nobody else mentioned it. During the DAY it is a sunroof At NIGHT it is a moonroof
  22. LF The pictures look like a wide angle lens that has condensation on the lens. I actually have a few pictures of my car when this happened. Anyway, the carspyshot website is rather interesting to check out isn't it.
  23. I guess we will go with the Pacifica since we can get the AWD one and the Volvo is not. I looked at the S60 cars and they have 4 levels and since the company didn't specify, I'm guessing it will be the base. They are also a little small. I just found out today we can specify the color and then pay for any option upgrades. Hmmm maybe we should get a 300C. The best part of the deal is I get the LS back after my wife took it over.
  24. I also have taken my car to Charles Barker Lexus in VB. They are very friendly but they have issues. They always find a long laundry list of expensive things. What really ticked me off was that their certified mechanics failed to reinstall the under engine splash pan adter they did an oil change I specifically requested that they NOT do. I had just done a synthetic oil change not two days before and they dumped it all and put in dino. I had to redrain and replace the filter and oil again. When I asked they said huh? I would only ever go to them in a pinch because their prices are so dadgummed high for everything. I took the same car to a Lexus dealer in Syracuse and thought they were much better.
  25. My wife is getting a company car. She has five choices Volvo S60 Chysler 300 Touring Limited Chysler Pacific Touring AWD Ford Explorer XLT 4WD Jeep Grand Cheorokee 4WD We have ruled out either SUV, they are ugly. I like the Pacifica especially with AWD What do you think?
