  1. Here ya go...now you can say that you've seen a '94 that's OBDII!! I'm a stand up comic on the weekends, btw! lol [ I'll mail you the title and keys(to both Lexi!!!!!!) tomorrow if it's not! Sheesh, I didn't think this was such a complicated thing! I guess I'll have to get sk in here to verify this for you. lol UCF3, my ES was made in 5/94. Why??
  2. I'm not irresponsible! lol I'm 17(almost 18), and I have 2 Lexi- '94 ES300(first car-June '03) and '95LS400(second-March '04)- that my parents bought for me. I have more respect(and enjoyment) for those two cars than one could fathom. I perform all of the maintinance, detailing, etc because I want to and enjoy doing it. Just because someone buys some expensive things for their son doesn't mean that the he won't appreciate them. I work 50+ hours a week during summers, and I think I've been working since I was like 12(mowing lawns)! Trust me, I know how to work hard and appreciate the things I buy and recieve, and I take nothing for granted. ;) How do you know that your ES would be worthless if your parents had bought it for you? Likewise, I wouldn't know if my Lexi would mean even more to me had I shelled out the duckets for them...I'm just saying it's a bold statement for an unknown. ;) I chose the ES for it's dazzling front profile(mainly the projectors!), superb reilability, V6, excellent interior, prestige, comfy ride, and quality, quality, quality. Everyone here had prestige in the back of their mind when getting their Lexus; otherwise, a Civic (it's roomy, fuel efficient, reliable, high quality, and a hell of a lot cheaper than an ES) would do. Tundra...what was your deciding factor for the ES(i'm curious because it almost seems like you are dissatisfied with your ES)?...other than dependability because Lexus isn't the only auto maker that makes reliable, well crafted cars! :D
  3. Happy Birthday Craig! :D I'm a Leo too! My birthday is Aug 19, 1986. I'm 17 now but feel more like 71! lol
  4. 1) The "OBDII" insignia on the diagnostic port cover 2) The real, hardcopy Lexus Reapir Manuals that I have for both Lexi give the complete break down of OBDII codes and probable causes 3) And best of all, I've had check engine lights on both my LS and ES that an OBDII code reader retrieved the codes that I identified in "2)"
  5. -from the website That's wrong info! Both of my Lexi are OBDII, and they are 1994(ES) and 1995(LS). 1996 was when the vast majority of cars started using OBDII codes, but Lexus stays ahead in the game. B) The website is wrong when it says 1996 was the first year for OBDII codes. Both of my Lexi that are older than 1996 utilize the OBDII system. I never said OBDI doesn't exist!!

  7. I found the 128 point check list: checklist . The pdf download is at the bottom.
  8. Those are all pretty serious on a CPO car(especially a trunk that doesn't stay open)! Does anybody have a list of what is inspected on the CPO's?? That'll show exactly what kind of leverage you have.Personally, if the dealer treated you well and gave you a loaner, I'd probably let it slide, but if they are rude and snobby like my dealer, I'd start talking to managers, and if that fails, call Lexus HQ to file a complaint. You probably could talk them into some kind of compensation for your inconvience. I'd push the trunk issue since that's even obvious to a chimpanze much less a Lexus tech!
  9. You're right-I am lucky! The CEO of the company I work for is a close personal friend of my dad, so that's why I have the job and do so well.
  10. My seat memory in my '95 is not working properly. When I push the different memory presets the mirrors and steering wheel move while the seat does absolutely nothing. The power seat works fine if I use the controls on the side of the seat, but the memory buttons make it do nothing. Any ideas??
  11. I do mind, so I'm not telling...nooo, I'm just being facetious! I work at a small engineering firm that custom fabricates automation devices. I work both in the field helping electrical engineers install them and in the office doing paper work(creating drawing indexes). Our biggest customer is located in Venice, LA(I refer to it as the armpit of LA[along with the rest of the state]! lol), and the drive takes about an hour and a half(my fastest time was 1 hour and 10 minutes! I won't share my speed just incase my parents find this thread! lol), so in order to get there at 7am(usually only this early if one of the PLC's has gone nuts), I drive to one of my coworkers houses; pick him up(or vice versa--we carpool) and head to Venice. I should have worded it better: I wake up at 4:30, and I'm on the road at 5am. Either way, I still feel like a zombie behind the wheel of my land yacht. Office days are 8-5! Also, for extra spending money, I cut 5 lawns on my street. :D Starting July 30 I'll wake up at about 12 because I'm quitting(I need plenty of time to get ready for college. muhaha)! :D Yeah, I sometimes wonder how I do it too! ;) I'm 17, and I get 10/hour and my travling expenses are covered by my company(all the premium fuel I want is covered, and I get paid while I'm on the road; plus, mileage for maintinance on my car.), so I and my bank account are very happy! :D When I work in the office, it's weird to see a tank of gas last the entire week!
  12. Here is a pic of my car pimped out by 93LSOwner. He lowered it, tinted the windows, and put the clear tail lights on. I think it looks great! :D I'm getting tint this week. After seeing the pics, I can't wait! Before: After:
  13. Ha, I wish!! Try $3k. I spoke with a bodyman(that does excellent work) about repainting my LS, and he gave me an estimate of $2800-$3k. His price included removing all of the lower two-tone cladding and repainting(he said this is the expensive part of the job because of the labor time to remove the cladding) it along with the rest of the car. I'd still be wary of places that charge less than $2k to repaint the whole car. I'm sure you could find a guy that'll do it for $1k, but I can just imagine what it'd look like. Make sure he's got a bunch of expensive cars in his shop. ;) Check this too: Repainting LS400
  14. WOW! :o Very nice work guys! :D I wonder if a mod could pin this thread since it is such a common topic. <_<
  15. Why couldn't I live in Dallas???? :( ...or JPI over here?!?!
  16. I think you're thinking of the C-Best settings. I believe the dealer has the strong arm on this one. :(
  17. I know the feeling! I head to work at 4:30 every morning, and eventhough I get plenty of sleep, my eyes feel like they weigh a ton. What works best for me is sunflower seeds! I get a pack of Salsa flavored David sunflower seeds and chew on them babies for the hour and a half drive. Works like a charm! I also drink a few Diet Cokes to get a little caffiene! :D 93, 1,200 miles since Jan.?? Sheesh! I've had my LS since March, and I've already clocked about 8,000 miles!
  18. Thank you. I truely appreciate it! I love that quote--"accept things you can't control." :D
  19. It's for some aftermarket phone because Lexus phones are mounted in the console. Also, on the Lex phone, the microphone is mounted inside the control module on the steering wheel. There was a guy in LOC who was making some kind of adapter for the Lexus phone to work with other more modern(like non analog phones!!!)...I want to say dogboy??? You might want to PM him to check on the status of his creations. What make and model phone are you trying to make hands free??? I'm guessing that all of the hardware in your car is worthless. :( It was probably for a phone that exclusively stayed in the car, and most likely an analog only phone.
  20. Welcome '91!! :D It sounds like you got a great deal on the car! My LS also has high miles-232k as of today. I love the car and plan to keep it for a long time! I wonder if a moderator could move this thread to the LS section so you can meet everyone?
  21. Welcome Jack! 95+ if the budget permits. On any year 9+ year old LS expect: worn suspension bushings, dead or leaky stereo and climate control lcds(respectively), maybe tired lower ball joints, engine and or tranny mounts, the first gen car commnly has dead speedo needles, leaky p/s pumps are notorious(then, they leak on top of the alternator which cause another problem!), possibly a little oil seepage on higher mileage cars(not really a big deal as long as it doesn't burn, leak, consume any oil) and the grinding antenna mast. The 5k dealer service intervals are always a plus, but at the bare minimum, the engine oil should have been changed every 3k-5k miles and whatever the tranny interval is(I do mine with every oil change; it takes all of 3 more minutes.)! The timing belt service is a very important and pricey job. I think they recommend this at 60 or 80k?? Do a very thorough test drive and inspection of the car. Do stop and go type driving, and do 80 on the freeway. The car should always feel smooth and controlled(in the LS, the higher the speed, the smoother the car is!). Run Carfax to check the history of the car and check every panel on the car for a VIN sticker so that you'll know the panels are origional(no wrecks). I'd be iffy buying off of ebay! I know there are some members that had very pleasureable ebay experiences, but I'm sure there are also many crooked sellers out there too. I can't remember what LOC member said this(I'll paraphrase since I can't remember verbatium.), but there's nothing like kicking the tires yourself! I couldn't agree more! I couldn't imagine buying a car based on some used car salesman's description and pictures! I see many '95 LS's on ebay with 115-150k for under $10k in nice condition.
  22. Welcome to the club!! :D Are you positive the moonroof isn't tilted or opened any? Maybe you could double check(tilt and slide. tilt is a common one to leave open) just for the hell of it since the moonroof is just about the only thing that will give a warning sound when the car is off unless your key is in the ignition. j/k The headlights don't make a chime since they go off when you open the door. ;)
  23. Not for long!! ;) I'm 17 too; I'll be 18 in mid/late August. :D LOC has members of every age from 16 to 70...they're all here!
  24. Not really...sorry. :( I was just curious because I stopped in one day and looked at a CPO RX300, and they didn't budge from their asking price-$27k. I didn't really push the issue because I was just getting some ideas on the SUV, and $27k for a RX with 65k is rediculous. Did you try LeBlanc Lexus in Baton Rouge or Lexus of Shreveport? Do you live in NO?
