  1. I don't think there's a yes or no answer for that question. I have Verizon and hate it because I roam and drop calls on a daily basis while others swear by their service. Cingular is the best here. I guess it's all based on who has access to what towers and where they are.
  2. Congrats!! She's a sharp looking car in my favorite LS color! Is your CD changer putting an error code on the stereo readout? Does it still play cd's? CD changer failure seems somewhat common for 95-7. Mine has been dead for some time now. It doesn't play CDs, and it holds my mag hostage until I turn the car off. It's showing ERROR 14. As far as the speakers, maybe a fuse (long shot, but worth a try), loose connection, or more likely, the amp. Maintinance...change the oil regularly, check the color of the trans fluid (and go from there), check air filter, maybe a new ignition system if you get bored one weekend, and keep her filled with 93 octane and enjoy the ride!
  3. Take this with a grain of salt, but we put the crank at 0 and matched the 2 cams with their markings on the block, and it worked. I hope you did the cam and crank seals while you are in there!
  4. He has patterns for all of the models I think. They run some great specials on ClubLexus group buys. They have tons of pictures in their group buy thread (their LS pattern is gorgeous!). ;)
  5. '94 ES300, it's a great car eventhough we did have a lot of problems with it. My only mods were Silverstars and gold emblems. My sister has it now. What a waste. :chairshot:
  6. Why is the F body gone?? Because their looks are right up there with the Aztek, so only those who bleed for GM bought them. The rest of that nonsense is not even worth the server space it's taking up. Of course the Mercury is supposed to be a higher class model over the 500 (that's the very reason for Mercury's existance.).The Montego has hid lights and led tail lamps. I'd probably get the Mercury for those reasons, but I like the style of the 500 better. I find your comments very funny! Why you ask?? Because the very truck that you brag about having 460k+ trouble free miles went through a name change of its own. We have pickup of our own (which is rusting away from too many years in St. Paul, MN), and when you tell someone you have a Toyota Pickup, most people don't know what that is since it was finally given a real name in the mid '90's- "Tacoma." And what ever happened to the Cressida, Tercel, Previa?? I'm sure there are more that I don't know too. I'm sure it's a tribute of the Fords of yester-year with 500 in their name. Galaxie 500 immediately comes to mind, and when I hear the 300, I think of the old Chrysler 300s.
  7. Wow, I never knew that. How does that feature get activated...when you hit the rear defrost button? I want folding mirrors for my '95 very badly. lol Do they just bolt right to the body, or does that require modification?
  8. The Taurus was a best seller just as the 500 will likely be....thanks to Hertz/Enterprise/ corporations. A Ford salesman told me the 500 is the replacement of the Taurus (don't know if it's true or not). I really like the 500; the interior is HUGE (big trunk too). It rode well and was quiet for a Ford. Ford took this car in the right direction when they based it off of the S80 but kinda took a step back when they but the small Duratech in such a large beast. They are really a lot of car for the money since they max out at ~$25k.
  9. You are paying for a name that has years and years of history and for someone to hand build it. But even more so than heritage and hand craftsmanship, you are paying for a status symbol. Not to mention, none of those makes have a desireable reliability record. In essence, you are missing nothing! lol
  10. Cool, I hate Sprint too! lol My dad has a Razr, and I just don't see what the hype is all about. I find that the buttons are hard to press, and it drives me crazy when he rides with me in the LS because it interferes with my stereo speakers (which are stock). The coolest thing about it is that it's paper thin. Other than that, it's just a well marketed phone.
  11. Yeah, there were only 3 magnets in my '95's pan when I dropped it last month. I don't know why that spot is there!
  12. Happy Birthday and have a great day, guys!
  13. LSRX, here are all of the changes from year to year you'll ever want to know about! lol http://www.lexls.com/info/lsgenerations.html I'd go for the '04+ over '01-'03! ;)
  14. Maybe it's worth a try for you one day when you're bored; you can't break it any more (short of dropping it)! lol I have very large hands, so it was hard for me just to snap it back in to it's little bracket. If you do decide to try, there are 4 philips screws that hold the ash tray to the larger wooden trim. After you have just the ashtray in your hands, there are 2 small philips screws on each side that hold the ashtray in its little mounting bracket. It's now ready to be pried out. I had to use a small flat-head screw driver to get it out, and in that process the springs came flying out. Maybe you might be better at this than me and get it to work again! ;)
  15. Mine does the same thing. I have to press the top of the ashtray to "unhook" the locking mechanism and then press the bottom to get it open. I had to remove my ashtray last week because the lighter was loose, and it was blowing a fuse--disabling my a/c and abient temp. We broke it(the springing action of the ash tray) from the first time it the lighter came loose. I've learned to live with it since I don't want to pay a few hundred $$ for a new one. The ashtray has gears and springs on the inside to make it spring open, so when you take it out of its bracket that holds it to the larger wood trim, it's really, really, really hard to get it to work again. Best of luck!
  16. Anything from today's market won't ride like a '90 LS. The first LSs have a very, very soft ride. I also find that German V8s give off a little noise but only at WOT...not a bad thing in my mind! B) A '06 S500 is a great car...enjoy her! 01-03 LS430s are extremely similar...no real changes came for the LS430 until '04.
  17. Owwww, $980 for O2 sensor replacements!!! Two OEM sensors should be well under $300. Then, $700 for installation...that's insane. Changing two o2 sensors should take less than 30minutes, maybe an hour if they are really frozen in there. http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...993&catalogid=1 I'd say no more than $200 for installation, and that's more than generous since it's a matter of unscrewing and unplugging the old sensors.
  18. Garmin iQue 3600. Seems too good to be true for what I paid! lol I don't know how I got around before.
  19. I've wondered the same thing. I suppose someone could get your address from your plate #'s if they find the proper resources (dmv contact and I've seen some internet sites that say they can give you someone's info from plates.). I used to hide mine, but I don't do it any more (I pitty the person that would try and break in to our house. lol My brother is a gun collector.). If someone really wants to find you, they will, plate numbers or not.
  20. I never said anything about 80 being slow. I said slower, and 80 is slower than ~100: If you were cruising in the right lane, he would of never swerved in front of you and been riding your tail. You could have easily prevented this entire situation.
  21. He probably wasn't trying to impress anyone; I would bet he just wanted you to get in the right lane so that he could pass on the left like we're all taught to do so. Hell, there are even signs that say "left lane for passing only" on most interstates. I would swear that there is some kind of magnetic force to the left lane for the slower drivers on the road. "Left lane bandits" really push every one of my buttons.
  22. From the looks of that mullet, we'd consider him a celeberty in Mississippi.
  23. I wouldn't let the mileage scare you as long as it drives well. Make sure you are thorough in your test drive and inspection since those dealer servicings are mainly concerned with fluids, tire rotations, and road tests (Save 60 and 90k which are plugs and timing belt/w pump respectively. all are good to do, but they certainly aren't indicative of the car's condition.) My LS has nearly 260k miles, and it is the most reliable car we've ever owned! I'm expecting at least 350k-400k miles out of this car if not more. I want to beat that guy in the Lexus magazine with 550k miles! The worst part about LSs are the repairs since parts are expensive and most tasks are not quick (time wise)=costly. I guess in the end it all works out, since they hardly need servicing!
  24. That's impressive! Congrats to Lincoln; I've always loved their offerings! I think the Town Car is one of the best bang-for-buck cars out there (dealers here aren't bashful about knocking $10k-$13k off the stickers). I loved driving my dad's LS V8 co. car; I think I cried the day he quit and had to turn it in! lol I guessed Saturn while the page was loading. I remembered reading a while back how satisfied their customers were with their experiences-it looks as though they've fallen some.
  25. You should pick which ever one you prefer. Both will have different driving character, seat designs, seating positions, materials, etc. Both will last a very long time with regular maintinance, so take them both for a spin and take it from there! Good luck!
